Overview

Play with fire and you will get burned

Malachy Salem is a fighter. He lets his brothers handle the spells and the sorcery—he just wants to rumble. He's trained in mixed marital arts. He kills vampires, demons, and other nasties. Then he picks up a blonde for a one night stand, and gets gone before morning. Mal's life is great...until the new, curvy, redheaded neighbor Cara shows up.

Cara Michaels is not looking for romance. She just wants to finish the job—restoring a historic Victorian home to its former glory. She knows how to handle a hammer, a wrench, or a chainsaw, but handling an evil spirit is something else.

When the house Cara is working on erupts with paranormal activity, she finds out that Mal is not just a random, hot-as-hell neighbor. He and his brothers have been staking out the place, but the evil spirit is much more interested in Cara. Mal's finally got someone to fight for...if he can take the heat.

The second novel in The Brothers Salem, a new contemporary paranormal romance series where a trio of demon hunters--armed with spells and snark--are on a mission to slay some demons, break some curses, and get their girls. Unless the girls get them first.

About the Author

Elizabeth Cole is a romance author with a penchant for history, which is why she lives in an old house in an old city. She can be found hanging around libraries and archives, or curled in a corner reading, cat on lap. She believes in love at first sight. Then again, she also believes that mac 'n' cheese is a healthy breakfast, so don't trust her judgment on everything.

Elizabeth is currently writing her Swordcross Knights series of medieval romances set in the beguiling word of Britannia during the period known as "The Anarchy". The fourth novel, PEREGRINE'S CALL, is now available.

She has begun work on a new series of contemporary paranormal romances called The Brothers Salem. It follows three demon-hunting brothers, armed with spells and snark, in a quest to rid the world of evil. And get the girl, of course.

Couldn't stop reading. What a fun, spooky romance. Love the idea that things can happen outside LA or NY.

The Salem brothers are back. This time they are keeping an eye on the hellhole in the house across the street. This spot has been on the Salem family’s radar for a long time. When Cara Michaels is contracted to renovate the house, Mal hires onto her crew, just to keep an eye on thing in the house of course. Reach for Me is a spine-tingling romp in the spirit world. Everybody is here, Dom, Mal, Lex, Vinny, Lily, Behemoth and Piewicket. The family is trying to keep the renovation crew, especially Cara, from opening the hellhole accidentally. The characters work together to solve the mystery that is wrapped around the house. The friction, then tension, chemistry between Mal and Cara is hot and abundantly fun to watch. This is a scary tale complete with vampires, a ghost, demons, and a séance. It will not be easy to have a romance in these circumstances. Strong and determined characters and an action-packed, scary, and unpredictable story make this one a must read.

Reach for Me by Elizabeth Cole is the second book in her Brothers Salem series. Note: this review contains spoilers! There’s a house on a hill. Cara, a master wood worker and restoration expert, is there to restore it to its former glory. The Salem brothers living across the road are there to make sure she doesn’t. Because they know something she doesn’t: there is a hell hole, a gateway to other worlds and dimensions, under that house and it can not be opened! Mal, the Salem brother who is the fighter, the runner, the one with muscles most of us don’t even know exist, is chosen to work on the house and keep an eye on things at the house and Cara. And as much as Cara is lost in her wood work, she does notice all those muscles, er Mal. But there are three things Mal and Cara didn’t plan on: the floor that Cara is working so hard to restore is the gateway to the hell hole, there is a ghost haunting the house, and the money to restore the house but primarily that one floor is coming from a demon! Oh, boy! Will the floor get finished? Will Mal accept his feelings for Cara? Will the ghost be set free? Will the flames come again? You’re going to have to read it to find out! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Scary-good, steamy-hot paranormal romance! If you want a super-suspenseful, just-scary-enough, toe-curling romance, then this is the book for you!! "Reach for Me," the third installment in the Brothers Salem series, continued the can't-stop-turning-the-pages of Ms. Cole's previous stories. WOW! Suspenseful and scary (in a good way!), I adore Ms. Cole's engaging characters and the sense that, no matter how scary things may get, everything will turn out for the best in the end. How cool is that?? It is the best sort of literary roller coaster. In fact, after being pleasantly scared out of my wits within the first few pages, I wanted to turn to my daughter and hand her the book as an example of the best way to write scary stuff... however, this is DEFINITELY NOT a book you'd hand your young daughter! Talk about steamy! The spice level on this is extremely high, which is not usually my favorite, but I appreciate how Mal and Cara's sexual relationship is mutual, consensual, and up to date. In fact, pretty much everything about Mal and Cara is engaging. They are certainly NOT perfect, but their failings are ones that I could relate to. And then, there are the cats. Ms. Cole must truly know and love cats, because I've never seen them depicted more accurately. The Brothers Salem cats deserve their very own SQUEEE of enthusiasm. I HIGHLY recommend this book. Even though I received an advance reader copy, I cannot recommend Elizabeth Cole's work highly enough.
