This is book #5 in the Bend Or Break series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. With the potential for spoilers, and real enjoyment of this amazing series - I recommend you read this series in order intended. Tom & Reese have already been through the wringer. Now that college is over, they have jobs and life getting in the way. With the holidays looming, Reese wants it to be special. Reese has planned for Tom to meet his co-workers. Will this be like college all over again? There needs to be common ground before it is too late. These are such really in depth characters! I love we are back seeing where the series began. Wonderful surprises for the reader, and even some holiday love thrown in. ***This book copy was given in exchange for an honest review only.

In REAL WORLD (Bend or Break #5), Amy Jo Cousins gives Tom and Reese, the main characters in Off Campus (Book 1), their much deserved happy ever after. Five years following the events in Book 1, Tom and Reese are living together and facing new challenges in their work and personal lives. With Tom’s dad being released from prison on parole and Reese navigating a new role at work, they also have to find a way to keep their relationship from falling apart in the face of these challenges. It’s not easy; it’s really stressful. But Tom and Reese learn valuable life lessons as they figure out how to meet each other’s needs. I loved how they came through for each other in individual but equally grand, courageous, and profoundly moving gestures. Their unique strengths complemented each other’s weaknesses and were solid foundations for their relationship. And the sexy times were both super hot and poignant. It was wonderful to see how much Reese has healed from his past and how Tom continues to respect Reese’s boundaries and value Reese’s trust. It was also great to see how their friendships enriched their lives and provided levity and support when things were tough. Like the first book, REAL WORLD wasn’t exactly a comfortable read. It was painful and anguished at times, so I was really happy for Tom and Reese in the end. Despite all their troubles, they never gave up on each other. I loved how dedicated they were to each other and to making their relationship work. *I received an eARC from NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

"Time to break out the big guns." As in any relationship, there are times where the tensions and problems you have get bottled up. Your significant other doesn't have the time or you don't have the words. For Tom and Reese, they clearly are committed to each other. However, words not spoken are creating a huge crevasse in their relationship. Will they make it or will temptation be too much? "God, please let it be an almost." If you read my review for Off Campus, you know I love these boys. It's clearly a toss up between Off Campus and The Girl Next Door as my favorite. But, Amy Jo Cousins offers us a four year glimpse at their relationship showing how far they have come or not. One of the things that I sometimes dislike with follow up novels is that they are a little too neat or tie everything is bow. Ms. Cousins gives us a real relationship struggle, ability to communicate, that keeps you engaged in the story. And when they let their bodies do the talking - Whoa HOT!! Although Real World clearly could be a standalone, I don't recommend it. Because I think you really need to understand the start of their relationship to get the full appreciation of their continued commitment. Do you need to read the other books in the series? No. Bonus you get more Cash and Steph in this book. But WHY NOT? I recommend you BUY ALL THE BOOKS. 5 HEA stars out of 5.

I loved this aptly titled check-in with Reese and Tom, following up on their story in Off Campus (which was a stellar standalone novel with a happy ending). They are definitely in the 'real world' now - a world of job pressures that affect their relationship whether they want it to or not. Like any couple, communication is the key to continuing happy times and this is something that Tom still struggles with. But being with Reese for 5 years means that Reese is aware of all the quirks of Tom's personality, including when he's keeping things from him. And just as Tom's work pressures get worse, Reese is becoming a rising star at his own firm, catching the eye of his manager who might be a little more interested in Reese than he's been letting on. I really enjoyed catching up with them, seeing this glimpse into what makes them still tick as a couple and the hard work that goes into maintaining a happy relationship. Included in this is some super sexy times that show the sexual chemistry between them is still there, and as strong as ever. And when they sort out some of their difficulties, and celebrate some of their successes with Cash and Steph, Danny and Rafael (stars of their own enjoyable stories in the Bend or Break series) we get another great view into the solid friendships they share. There are some laughs in this one, there are some emotional moments and there is the sweetest ending. 5 stars for this entertaining, hard to put down once you start, sexy, romantic story.
