Red Palace by Sarah Dalton

I am here when you run from me,
You cannot touch me, but I make you cold.
I am there in the faint of heart,
But rarely with the daring, and bold.

One by one, fall the members of the court, cursed into a deep sleep. Silence spreads through the castle, and only Mae Waylander stands.

To break the curse, Mae must face a formidable opponent. She is the only one with a chance to restore order to the Red Palace, but she is unprepared for the trials that await her. She is brave at heart, but is her bravery enough?

In this thrilling follow up to White Hart, Mae faces her toughest challenge yet. With temptation, fear, and evil in her path, can she complete her task? And what will she lose in doing so?

Book two in the White Hart series.

It would be a great series if it wasn't so jumpy. Given I am not a teenager anymore but this was slightly dissapointing. There should have been more plot, characters should have been explained with more detail, the fight scenes were too dull in like a "I stab you I roll to see if I hit" (dungeons and dragons reference for you non-nerds)kinda way. There wasn't enough body to it and there isn't really a "climax" it doesn't grab and keep the readers attention. And I don't know but most that like supernatural romance with adventure and action would be sorely dissapointed in this series. They made Cas out to be a pansy boy pamper winy prince. I understand all the "movements" this day and age have such as third wave feminism, LGBT rights ect. Is a big thing and I honestly didn't mind the whole "I love the girl and I am not ashamed" thing. BUT if that's the case she wouldn't be so interested in marrying Cas, once you swing that direction you always eventually go back. Gals that like gals find women to be more tolerable then men. Anyway, a lot of plot holes, not enough body, not enough explanations of characters and where they came from, and Def not solid "love interest. If there is a love inerest it's one sided for the main character and the "queen to be" just want the riches, she is shallow.

First book white heart was good why i purchased red palace, next in series. Imho, red palace was a disaster and a chore to read... had to force myself to finish reading it and skimmed over quite a few pages just to be done. Would not recommend.
