After being hired as the temporary director of Marietta Medical ER, Dr. Lucy Davidson meticulously plots the course she wants the quickly growing facility to take. She’s laser-focused, determined to prove herself worthy to become the permanent director. No distraction will sway her…not even the brilliant and disturbingly handsome new Emergency Room physician, Thomas McAvoy.

Fulfilling a promise, Thomas has come to Marietta to help the woman who saved his life then leave as soon as possible. Still sustaining injuries from the near fatal attack, he realizes how much he appreciates the slower pace of his temporary assignment at a rural hospital. It’s a soothing balm after years in an hectic urban ER.

The charm of Marietta and the friendliness of his colleagues lure Thomas into thinking he might like to make his temporary position permanent, especially since he and Lucy have become closer. As their relationship begins to heat up, Thomas realizes Lucy is everything he dreamed of in a life partner, and he can’t imagine letting her go. But when they both realize they are up for the same promotion, will they be able to keep their personal and professional lives separate?

steamy romance...Dr. Lucy wants to have a permanent position but initially finds it hard to fit in. New town, new climate, and scars to overcome. Dr. Thomas, playboy with no roots and a secretive past,he faces his own problems. They're attracted, and they fight the workplace romance despite the pull...until they can't. Problems in the ER, and Dr Lucy is trying to figure out the accounting errors. Dr. Thomas's protection of a friend/nurse threatens to undermine the relationship with Dr Lucy and the hospital. Can they find a way to open up about the past, find trust, and each secure a job without losing one another. A future could be in the cards, but they must open their hearts fully. Passionate read I recommend.

Seemed like FOREVER since I have visited Marietta and today was a good day to get lost in my favorite fictional hometown. What better place to start than by visiting the local ER. The first time I read this book (yes this is my second read), I was newly recovering from a nasty accident so I don't remember much. This time Doctors Thomas and Lucy stuck with me. I invite you to visit Marietta too. This book is the start of a new series. Dr Lucy has a strong will and it is needed as the director of the ER. Thomas is a doctor who travel around never landing in one hospital for long. He thinks he needs to be a protector. I love we get to meet new people and reconnect with some of our old friends . As most of you know i love Marietta, i love the people , their heart so much more. This book has heart.

Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley) I enjoyed this story, we are back in the town of Marietta and for some reason all of those men seem perfect or near perfect truly must be something in the water, whatever it is I want some. So in this story we have Lucy an ER doctor and with a tragic pass she knows what it takes to help other heal but since she was known as the the girl who survived she needed a new start somewhere where they didn't know her past. While working the ER she is attracted to Thomas another doctor but she and he are trying to resist the attraction, she doesn't want help and he tends to travel constantly not putting down roots, but when they give in the heat turns up..Enjoy!

Resisting The Doctor by Patricia W. Fischer Am familiar with the setup of Marietta and thought I'd enjoy this book. This is a new to me author to read. Book starts out with Dr. Lucy Davidsons and they've just had a patient that rolled in that wanted Love the scene by scene descriptions as I do watch medical drama shows on tv and I can feel myself being there with them. Like hearing of the patients and their problems and how they are being cured after finding a diagnosis. Lucy needs to prove herself to others and hopes to take charge of the ER soon. Another doctor, Thomas had arrived in town a bit ago and he's fascinated with the knowledge Dr. Lucy has. Like hearing Thomas side to what's going on and Lucy's side as she takes order and puts things in order. We learn different things from the past about each and the puzzle pieces fit nicely. Love hearing of the other shops in town that are visited-like refreshing my mind of places gone to before in other works by other authors. Like hearing of the conflict when new characters are introduced til you realize how they play a part in the story. Misunderstandings and confrontations til a solution is found. Liked this author and looking forward to the next in the series. Hot steamy sex scenes. Really like medical parts of this, didn't think I would. Loved the scenery as we are hikers also. Received this review copy from Tule Publishing and this is my honest review. #ResistingTheDoctor #NetGalley

This is Marietta Medical Book #1. It is the story of Dr. Lucy Davidson and ER physician, Thomas McAvoy. Lucy is determined to prove herself worthy of being the permanent facility director. She is determined nothing will sway her course until the handsome ER physician shows up. Thomas has come to Marietta to help out the woman who saved his life in a near fatal accident. He is still recovering and he appreciates the pace of the rural setting as opposed to the fast pace in the city's ER. He has no intention of sticking around until he grows closer to the facility director, Lucy. As their relationship heats up, they both have to decide if they can make it permanent. Will they let old wounds destroy the future they could have? I really enjoyed their story. The chemistry they shared was easy to see and undeniable. (girlfromwvaKY)

Resisting the Doctor by Patricia W. Fischer is a nice beginning to a new series called "Marietta Medical". Unfortunately it has a few beginner troubles. It forgets that we don't all know abbreviations, Spanish and French but if you find yourself able to read the first 6 chapters it actually takes off in chapter 7 and gives you a great story. If you love stories set in the fictional town of Marietta, Montana, you have yourself another nice series with this one.

An excellent start to a new series in my favorite fictional small town of Marietta. This is a bit of a departure from the cowboys we've come to love in the past. This series features doctors both at work at the hospital and outside of it. Patricia Fischer is a new author tome and I really enjoyed her style. Dr. Lucy Davidson is very focused. Not only with giving exceptional medical care but also growing the new facility she's a director for. Dr Thomas McAvoy is the new ER doc who has taken a temporary position. At first he thought he'd be out of there as soon as possible but he finds that not only does he find the slower pace of the ER calming but he's also enjoying his new relationship with Dr. Lucy and it's definitely worth pursuing. Things seem to be going really well until they find out they are competing for the same job. I recommend this one.

Loved, loved this medical romance. A start of a new series that takes place in Marietta Hospital between two ER Doctors. Both are new to Marietta and wanting a fresh start. Dr Lucy is looking for a forever place where Dr Thomas is working for a traveling group of doctors and just doing a favor for a friend. Both can not deny their sexual chemistry but will it last working in the same department. Patricia Fischer did a great job with the medical aspect of the story, I'm an old ER nurse and it brought back many memories for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters, including Jade. All with pasts that they all need to overcome. I look forward to reading more in this series.

Dr. Lucy Davidson came to Marietta to find herself. She wants to be respected for her abilities. She's willing to sacrifice for her dream - to become the ER director. That is until she meets Dr. Thomas McAvoy. He's here working with her at the hospital ER. He's a skilled Doctor and a good friend. He came here to try and heal and to help his friend. Lucy and Thomas have amazing chemistry. They may butt heads but their attraction is powerful. Lucy is a fiery heroine. I loved her ninja skills. I was amazed by her work ethic and by her desire to help her patients. It was easy to fall for Dr. McAvoy. He's a man who never settled down and doesn't want to have a permanent relationship, but the more time he spends with Lucy the more he want to stay with her in Marietta. I loved their story. It's a great start to the Marietta Medical series. Patricia W. Fischer wrote characters that I cared about. The story was a wonderful romance that had healing from the past and a HEA. I received a copy of this book which I voluntarily read and reviewed. My comments are my honest opinion.

Two new doctors, Dr. Lucy Davidson and Dr. Thomas McAvoy, start out butting heads in Marietta Medical ER when it comes to a drunk driving accident victim. But they soon find themselves becoming attracted to each other which might not be the best idea since they work together. Lucy and Thomas are both working temporary positions at Marietta Medical. Lucy is working as the temporary director and if everything goes as planned, she could soon see herself in a permanent position. But it seems someone is out to make her job more difficult. Thomas is the new emergency room physician. He is only in town until he finishes helping his friend Jade make repairs to her father’s house before she sells it. When things start heating up with Lucy, Thomas just might change his plans and stay in Marietta. This was a good story, but in the beginning, during the ER scene, I spent a lot of time googling words. I don’t know anything about doctors, hospitals or medical terminology. So, it did slow me down a little bit. But once I got past that part the story started to flow really well. I can tell the author has a lot of medical knowledge or did thorough research to get details like that. I liked how Lucy and Thomas were both stubborn and set in their ways and how they eventually found a way to put their differences aside to get to know each other. There are also some very steamy intimate scenes in this book too. I look forward to reading the rest of this series.

WOW!! I was blown away while reading Resisting the Doctor by Patricia W. Fischer, the first book in her Marietta Medical series. This wonderful story has two nerdy ER doctors attracted to each other, sharing sizzling chemistry, with only a couple of problems; she’s his boss and he is temporarily working in Marietta. Dr. Lucy Davidson is young looking and struggles to be taken seriously; sexism is alive and well, as she works to become the permanent ER director. Dr. Thomas McAvoy came to Marietta to help a friend who saved his life but realizes the slower pace of this assignment might be a good fit as he still struggles with overcoming the damages he sustained in his near fatal attack. After years of not finding the yin to their yang could Lucy and Thomas have found their life partners? I enjoyed the strength Lucy had in facing the world, not wanting to live on the laurels of her siblings. She fit in well with the ER team and I loved the way she proved her ninja skills, taking care of a rebellious drunk patient. Sometimes, it’s still hard to be taken seriously when you are a woman. I could associate with Lucy not wanting to ask for help but liked the manner in which Ms. Fischer handled Thomas finding a way to give her that help without taking anything away from her. Thomas had his own demons but I loved the way he found coping mechanisms to deal with them and open up to Lucy about them. I loved this book and didn’t want to put this book down, reading it in one day. Ms. Fischer wrote a wonderful story that drew me in, not letting me go until I turned the last page. I highly recommend this book to other readers and can’t wait for the next book in this series. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
