Misunderstandings plague us all. They can certainly blow up a brand new relationship. Abby Rowe is a woman who walled off her emotions. After a lifetime of thinking she could trust only herself, she's begining to open up to new relationships, friend and romantic. Then her new boyfriend sees an incident that sends him running. He believes the worst, Abby doesn't get a chance to explain her side of the issue and poof, it's over and he's gone. Spence Jameson is the son of a uber controlling Father, a CEO to the core at work and at home. His Brother Derrick needs help with the family business, he's got troubles of his own going on. Spence returns after a year long absence and finds that his attraction to Abby hasn't withered with time. He decides that these feelings are too strong to ignore and sets out to win back Abby. Whatever happened can be overcome and put in the past. Needless to say, Abby doesn't fall into line with his plan. Spence and Abby both seem to be emotionally stunted. They remind me of high schoolers with the love you-hate you back and forth. Instead of being adult and discussing their problems they shout, storm out and prickle up like catcus. The constant accusations thrown around by Abby, without really adressing the source, get boring. You know how it will turn out and that it will happen again. Ms Dimon has a lovely writing style, she's entertaining, but these two annoyed me. By the end of the book I was ready to leave these two in the rearview mirror and get on to the next Brother's story.
