Richard by Kathi S. Barton

Richard James is a very old vampire and was already an immortal when he joined Rembrandt's team. Old grievances and heartaches, committed decades ago, still haunt him today. The murders of his mate and brother can be placed on a single culprit--Lucia Alverez.

Ryiah isn't happy. It's do as her sister says or suffer the consequences. She can handle the beatings, but being locked up in a cell again with no sunshine or earth is more than she can bear. Ryiah is fae and needs these things to survive. So when her sister says to bring her her mate, Richard James, the second lord of the Highlands castle of Ireland, that's what Ryiah sets out to do.

Vampires and fae are mortal enemies. The blood of the fae is like an intoxicating drug to a vampire, turning the vampire feral. Rick knows immediately that the beautiful woman is fae, but that's not the problem, there are other fae at Rembrandt's compound and Rick has no problems being around them. But this one...there is something different about her....

From the moment he touches her, he knows that she's his mate...the mate he didn't want...and to make matters worse, she is the sister to his mortal enemy--Lucia Alverez....

Richard has been around a long time and there isn't an end to his life coming any time soon. One thing has kept him going all these years - getting revenge for the deaths of his brother and his mate. The last thing he wants is Ryiah, the sister of his revenge target and his mate, coming into his life. Ryiah must do her sisters bidding, unless she can figure out a way to get away from her. Sparks fly and passion soars when these two finally come together. Are they enough to take the sister down, or will they fail? Come along as Richard joins the Blood Brotherhood and sets out to right the wrongs done to him. Fans of Kathi S. Barton will enjoy this read.

Richard, like all the characters in this series has had a hard life filled with loss, betrayal and hatred. He has an enemy from his past that will not give up and may put his friends in danger. Ryiah has lived with Richard enemy all her life as she is her sister. Being sent to retrieve Richard for her sister is a death sentence either way and she sees this as a way to get away from her evil twin and finely meet her end. Fate is fickle and has other plans, with the help of the Fairies they lead Ryiah to her mate. This was a great addition to this series, there were a lot of mysteries brought up and a few were even given some interesting twists. I really like that the mates bring out the best in the men, they are like two sides of a coin completing them and I look forward to seeing what each brings to the teams. The characters were interesting, the storyline was filled with surprises and you are always on the edge of your seat as you turn the pages. Ms. Barton dangles some interesting carrots out there for us to grab, leaving us wondering how everything is going to turn out. I for one an looking forward to seeing where she leads us next. I was given an ARC for an honest review

This is the fifth book in the Blood Brotherhood series. Richard James is a very old vampire and an immortal. He still holds a grudge against the person who killed his mate and brother. Ryiah is a fae and vampires are their mortal enemies. Ryiah is tired of her sister beating her and locking her away without sunlight or the earth. When her sister tells her to bring Richard to her that is exactly what she plans on doing. Richard can handle being around fae as there are some at the compound but what he discovers with Ryiah is that she is the mate that he doesn't want and also the sister to the one who killed his family. Will they make a go of it OR will his hatred of Ryiah's sister keep them apart? A must read by Kathi S Barton and would recommend to everyone.

Richard is probably my favorite of the Blood Brotherhood Series that I have read so far! What's a man to do when the one woman who's destined to be his mate is the one who's taken everything from him? Ryiah is a fae who's being ruled under her sister's thumb. Because of the blood they share Ryiah nor Lucia can harm each other. But that doesn't stop Lucia from trying. Now on a mission to try and bring Lucia's mate to her she gets the biggest shock of her life as she approaches the Brotherhood's compound. Richard is a very old vampire. He's been given magic which makes it almost impossible to kill him. He's lived through the lose of his family and his mate, all at the hands a woman who fate claims will be his fated mate. But when he meets Ryiah he's in for a shock to discover the sister of woman who took everything from him is his fated mate. Can he see past her sister's horrible acts and embrace the love that will complete him?
