Things heat up when a rough motorcycle club member comes to the aid of a stranded kindergarten teacher. Austin "Booker" Carter is from a troubled background. He's deeply involved with  his motorcycle buddies personally and professionally. Danielle Harris is from a family with strong ties to law and order. A case of opposites attract? Not so fast.  Underneath his "wrong side of the tracks" demeanor, Austin is a soft-hearted genius. His loyalty to his club isn't blind, it's based genuine love and gratitude.  And Dani, though she's wary of Austin's lifestyle and a little too apt to believe stereotypes, has a definite rebellious side. Piper Davenport does a great job showing the culture clash Austin and Dani  face as they fall in love and struggle to see how to build a future together. This  whole bad guy/good girl thing could have been a trip to cliche-land. Instead we  get realistic characters carrying serious baggage. Austin lived a nightmare  childhood in foster care. Dani's first adult relationship left her emotionally  bruised and financially bankrupt. Throughout the book, the couple's past struggles haunt their present and threaten their future. ROAD TO DESIRE provides a near perfect balance of romance and suspense. Austin and Dani face genuinely scary situations. Luckily, there's an entire cast of  family and friends to support them as they fight for their happy ending. As a reader, I wanted to climb into the story and become part of the gang. Like any book worth reading, there are points to debate over. For instance, there's an unfortunate hookup in Austin's recent past that dented my esteem for him. Though he's adult enough to admit he made a bad choice, there's a lot  more blame placed on the girl than on him. She's a whore. He was just drunk and horny. Not fair. And it's an attitude that is beneath someone who is otherwise  a decent guy--even if the girl is a troublemaker. On the structural side, a kidnapping near the end is presented awkwardly. I don't  want to spoil the plot. Let's just say that readers experience the event in hindsight when we should have been present as it happened and THEN witnessed others learning about it. This first Dogs of Fire book is a winner...kind of like PRIDE & PREJUDICE with  lots leather and motor oil. I am very much looking forward to the next one in the series

* I received a copy of this ebook in exchange for an honest review. * When the author asked me if I wanted to try her new series that was about a motor cycle gang and their friends, with a bit of steamy romance and a hint of danger there was no way I could say no!  It is not my typical "genre" of books, but I will try anything at least once and I am so glad that I did!  I loved this book ~ the characters were amazing, the descriptions that the author used made the reader feel like part of the gang and the storyline was both believable and fun.  There were tons of twists and turns and of course there were hot men in leather, muscle shirts and motorcycles.  Piper did an amazing job of making the motorcycles and the gang almost take a backseat to the story line, even though the book was about the gang.  It didn't take much on the readers part to picture the "family" dinners, the hangout, or even the setting as Piper did an amazing job with those details. She didn't bore the reader with motorcycle fixing, talk or parts, but did include enough detail that even someone with no knowledge on the subject would be able to grab ahold and not miss a beat. I loved the relationships that Dani had with her family and the way that her biggest fears were her family not liking Booker, but that it was just in fact the opposite. I enjoyed the banter between the characters, as it seemed real and like an actual conversation that two people would actually have.  The ploy flowed so smoothly that I reached the end of the book way before I was ready for it to end. I also enjoyed how the author tied some of the characters into this story (Macey, Brock, etc.) from another series, it was like a visit from an old friend, and it was one that I really enjoyed - it shows that the author, much like the reader, thinks about the characters long after the story is finished. I am looking forward to book 2 by this author and hope to see a story about Mack or Hawk and them finding "the one".  The characters feel more like friends as you read and they are fun to get to know, spend time with and learn more about.  I always enjoy learning something new as I read and the author took the time to research things so that made the book even more enjoyable for me.  I think that anyone who reads this author will be able to tell that she loves the characters, the story and the process of being a writer - she takes the time to have everything play out in real time and with facts thrown into the story (such as the insurance policy for Kidnapping and Ransom).  I will be adding ALL of her books to my TBR list! Make sure you check out this book and the others that Piper Davenport has to offer, they are all equally amazing reads!! ***Review has been done in conjunction with Nerd Girl Official. ***

Seems like I’ve gotten in the habit of trying new authors recently. This is the first book I’ve read by Piper Davenport. And really, I found her books in a rather unconventional way. I follow the R & E Frat Group on Facebook, and her husband, Jack, is one of the more recent male authors to join this frat. So, found Jack and hence, found his wife, Piper. And now that I’ve finished this book... I have SOO much to catch up on. I better get busy reading. LOL Dogs of Fire is a MC (Motorcycle Club). I am finding that I’m really enjoying these types of books. I was sucked into Road to Desire from the very beginning of the book and I had a very hard time putting it down. Dani absolutely cracks me up. She’s a kindergarten teacher, and very much a goody-two-shoes. But she is one of the most lovable heroines I’ve come across. I laughed out loud when Dani asked Austin why didn’t he talk like a thug. Austin/Booker is now one of my favorite book boyfriends. He does his best to give Dani what ever she wants, but is always on the look out to make sure she’s safe. And Austin keeps assuring Dani (daughter of the chief of police) that his club is clean. I highly recommend this book, whether you like MC stories or not. At least in this book, club life and dealings with the club are as front and center as I’ve seen from other authors. This is simply a very enjoyable and entertaining read. Now I’m off to start book 2.

Great start to the series! Alpha Male: Check, Feisty Heroine: Check, MC Romance: Check! I really enjoy MC books but often they are extremely dark and gritty. What was great about this book was that it has a great MC story that had suspense but was not extremely dark. Danielle and Austin have a great romance and at the end I wanted to see the other members stories as well!

Booker and Dani are such a sweet couple! I love how he sees her and right away decides that she is it for him. I love how protective of her he is. I love that she is still such a strong woman, despite everything in her past. This story combines strong characters, insta-love, and hot bikers with twists and turns to provide an amazing story that pulls you in right from the beginning, and doesn't let go until the end!
