Overview

Rock Legend by Tara Leigh

In this emotional and "gripping rock-star romance that hits all the right notes" (USA Today Happy Ever After), a damaged bad boy fights for a second chance with the love of his life.

I'm no Prince Charming.

Most people know me as the drummer for Nothing but Trouble. Depending who you ask, I'm also a playboy, a loner, the life of the party, a screw-up, or according to my fans, "The Sexiest Rock Star on the Planet." Apparently, I'm a legend.

Am I surprised? Hell, no. It's a reputation I've earned behind my drum kit and behind closed doors. No one thought foster kid Landon Cox would become famous. Infamous, maybe. Notorious, probably. But successful? Never. No one except Piper Hastings. But I had to make a choice: my woman or my career. I picked fame and fortune... and spent every damn day since pretending I don't regret it.

Now fate's dropped Piper back into my life. I want to believe it's a second chance for me - for us. But while I can give her a few great nights, I can't give Piper a future.

Because there's a difference between a legend and a fairy tale...
Only one of them ends happily ever after.

"You will love this drama filled emotional read that is full of heated exchanges and heart-pounding romance." -Fresh Fiction on Rock King

Family. It is all about family. Landon Cox -- the drummer for Nothing But Trouble. He is living the rock star life, trying to bury his feelings. Feelings about his family, his band and the girl who got away. Piper Hastings -- PR is a fixer with a 5-year plan that does not include a boyfriend who leaves her for his boyfriend. What better way to get over a break up than a one-night stand with an old flame? Landon and Piper meet 6 years earlier, when he is a drummer for an up-and-coming band and she is a freshman in college. Their chemistry is instant and and lasts until Landon makes decisions to protect his family, both his found family and the band (his 2nd found family). Piper has no idea why Landon disappears from her life, but she picks herself up, mends her broken heart, and eventually becomes a PR wizard for the company who manages Landon’s band. The job puts Piper in Landon’s orbit and they reconnect. They must overcome obstacles (a drunken accident in a swimming pool, an ex-boyfriend, family) to reach their HEA. And it is a great HEA. There is a lot of angst, but I was rooting for both of them to succeed. Along the way, Piper learns the correct way to apply a condom. Solid friendships and family is what you make it. A solid 4 stars. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. The book was provided by NetGalley for an honest review.

Piper and Landon had me wrapped around their story so hard, I couldn’t stand from my comfy chair until I finish it. The passion, their chemistry blows me away. Piper tries to avoid the boy who broke her heart. Landon is in chaos and he needs help. When they collide it sets sparks and fire everywhere. The story line is superb and the rock star romance I wanted to read delivered with a bang.

This was an intense read. Piper and Landon had a brief history that ended in heartbreak. However, the poor life choices Landon made led to Piper reentering his life, as his babysitter. Landon is truly troubled and influenced by his past, his regrets, and his inability to cope with them. Piper definitely helped heal as much as she could but he had to learn how to do it for himself. While their relationship was a big part of the book, the more important story-line was Landon coming to terms with needing help and sticking to getting that help. Their love faced many trials and at times, I was actually rooting for Piper to give up because I didn't think Landon was healthy for her or for anyone. However, this was a story of Landon's perseverance and he does reach a point where he deserves and can be good for Piper. I immensely enjoyed this book because it was challenging and thought-provoking. I can't wait to read what Tara Leigh writes next!

Second chances and hot sparks flying? Yes please! I absolutely loved this book! This is my first Tara Leigh book and let me tell you, I am so glad that I started with this one! I was instantly pulled to the story, and was taken on a whirlwind ride. Piper and Landon truly tugged at my heart and I fell in love with them so many times over in this story. The passion that sparks between them is incredibly magnetizing and I felt it all to my core. The heartache and pain that they dealt each other became my own with each page turn. This book owned me. It's definitely worth 4 Bonfires and more! What are you waiting for? Grab it now and let it own you, body and soul. Great job, Tara! Can't wait for more. *This book was provided for review by the publisher/author. All opinions, positive or negative, are solely my own.*

Rock Legend is the second book in the Nothing But Trouble series by Tara Leigh, although it can be read as a standalone I would recommend reading the series in order so that you can follow each of the band-mates find their HEA's as they unfold since they are prevalent in each of the books. I enjoyed Rock King, but I LOVED Rock Legend. Landon and Piper get their second chance at love in this book, but it is a long and bumpy road that the two must travel to get to their HEA. There were times that I honestly didn't think things would end well for them and wondered if we were going to be left with a cliffhanger. This book was not rushed at all, it just felt like they had one obstacle after another and the way they were pilling up....well it wasn't looking good for them. Tara Leigh gutted me with the epilogue. I enjoyed the steamy read, even with all the obstacles sexy time was plentiful and HOT! But the epilogue had me crying like someone close to me was going through what was happening and I know it's because of the way the book was written. Tara Leigh pulled me in right from the very beginning and made me feel as if I was right there witnessing it all first hand as one of their closest friends would be, so yes I was balling like a baby for a while....even after I finished the book! Once I completed the book I continued reading the Author's Note and I feel the need to share it with you because I wholeheartedly agree with what she says. **Author's Note** "Piper represents an all too common problem in our society - women clinging to the idea that they have to be perfect to be worthy of love. No one is perfect. To everyone reading this note - it is our differences and imperfections that make us who we are. Please, embrace them. Life would be painfully boring if we were all the same."

I enjoyed this one, maybe even more than book one. I'm giving this 4 out of 5 stars. This review is for an ARC, and reflects my honest opinion. I didn't really like Piper THAT much in book one, but I liked her in this book. Being able to see someone's life/circumstances can really change your opinion about them. I thought Landon was okay in the first book from what I remember, but once again, knowing his past endeared him to me even more. I will say that I wasn't surprised by the "twist" in the plot; in fact I was expecting it from pretty much the beginning. I would have been more surprised if it didn't happen, but I still enjoyed reading this. If you like rock star romances, you'll probably like this one...although honestly there wasn't that much focus on the music/band. It was more just a second chance romance. This book had some sad moments, and I found myself crying a little bit when I got hit with the feels. I can't wait for the next book in this series to be published, which looks like November, so you have some time to catch up on the series!

4.5 Drummer Stars Review by Elizabeth Late Night Reviewer Up All Night w/ Books Blog Do you love second chances? Second chances at love? I know I do! Tara Leigh has again done an outstanding job with Rock Legend, installment two in the Nothing But Trouble series. Bonus, they can be read as standalones! Piper and Landon had a fling back when she was in college. Piper thought they were going to have the fairytale ending until Landon walked away without so much as a word. Needless to say, She has not gotten over Landon as much as she thinks. Piper is now working for the management company that manages Nothing But Trouble, Landon’s group. She does her best to stay away from the man that broke her heart six years ago but can she? Will Landon let her slip through his fingers again? Prepare yourselves for man whore Landon. He gets more action than my dishwasher! Naturally, he regrets leaving Piper but can he put his man whorish ways behind him and be the man she deserves? I liked Rock King but this one was oh so gooood!!

The second book from Nothing but trouble series. In this one, we read about the second chance between Piper and Landon. After seven years their path cross again and the attraction and chemistry are still going strong. This time Landon doesn't want Piper to let go. For Piper is really hard to work with Landon because the professional boundaries are easy to cross. The second time that they start their relationship is much deeper they reveal thing that in the past were left unspoken. Unfortunately the love, trust doesn't last and Landon finds another way to cope with the loss. What reason will be enough strong for him to start rehab and fight for love? Really well-written story after half of the book we see an unexpected twist. Both Piper and Landon are well developed I didn't fell in love with them but I loved reading their story. By Landon felt some spark that I didn't feel, I liked Piper more, her story is sad really sad to have a family but no love. That is why is great to read the end and all the changes. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly.

Rock Legend by Tara Leigh, a great addition to the Nothing But Trouble series. Rock Legend is book two in the series. I enjoyed the character development between Landon and Piper and the Rock star storyline. I look forward to reading the next book in the series when it comes out and more by Tara Leigh.

Landon, the hero, starts off as a stereotypical, rockstar manho of epic proportions, who is in a downhill mental spiral. “Poor me” is the tune he is singing, despite his musical fame and fortune. Upfront and center is his regret in losing Piper, the heroine, who he walked away from six years earlier. Waking up after an all too frequent, routine threesome wasn’t an opening act I wanted to witness, folks. You see, I’m just not a big fan of a man who impulsively indulges his every whim with random other women while supposedly pining for someone who he claims to love but dumped without saying goodbye. Finding out Piper has secretly and silently had a front row seat to his bad boy party lifestyle was rough on my avid romantic heart. Him thinking he somehow deserved a ONS with her to get her out of his system once and for all, well, not cool, folks. His excuse for leaving her in the first place didn’t justify no contact or explanation whatsoever when he first left. He had a long time to try and make things right with her. But, hey, it is what it is. I still couldn’t help but wish these two knuckleheads would get their second chance. But things continued to turn into one hot, complicated mess after another. The author definitely threw in some obstacles I didn’t see coming, and I enjoy her writing style. If you are into rock band romances and can overlook not that long ago manho behavior, you might want to consider this one. The writing did flow. Dax, the more of a loner/less of a womanizing manho, will get his HEA in the next book. Title: Rock Legend, Series: Nothing But Trouble (Book 2), Author: Tara Leigh, Pages: 368, stand-alone but part of a series, second chance romance, huge former manho, not celibate during long previous separation, knucklehead decisions, very steamy, OM drama, no cheating after seeing each other again, no love triangle, claims he has always missed her, didn't like opening scene with OW. Book 1 - Rock King Book 2 - Rock Legend Book 3 - Rock Rebel (I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I was not given any payment or compensation for this review, nor is there any affiliation or relationship between this reviewer and the author/publisher/NetGalley.)

This Rocked! Love Rock Star Romances! This is the first story that I have read by Tara Leigh and it definitely will not be the last. Well written with great character development.
This is a second chance romance, and I loved learning about their past history and what happened between them. These two clash and it’s ridiculously fantastic! I enjoyed the animosity, their bickering and their chemistry immensely. But their is also a lot for them to work through, to heal their hearts. Is Love in the cards? You will have to read to find out.
Get ready for an emotional roller coaster, but also be ready for a whole lot of sweetness, and off the charts sexy in this Rock Star Romance.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thought and opinions are my own.

Landon's and Piper's story gutted me!!! These two had a love/hate relationship I could only hope that they would come up for air and see what they have. I knew that Piper had many reasons to stay away. Tara Leigh will not give you a typical rock romance. THE FEELS YOU GET! I was whole heartily invested with this story. I felt every emotion that Tara wants you to feel. You get hope, but can feel insecure. You get the love, but then the doubts. I laughed so hard then cried so hard. I loved hard on Landon, then cursed his name. Yeah I became a mad woman with this book. Rock Legend was unexpected. It was breath of fresh air. I just have to say WOW! I felt this story down to my bones. At the end of the story, I was crying and smiling at the same time. Then I was hit with Tara's message with her author notes. It hits home for me. I loved book one, but astounded with book two. I am excited for book 3 in the Nothing But Trouble series!

WOW!! I loved, loved, loved Rock Legend by Tara Leigh, book two in her Nothing But Trouble series. Ms. Leigh created a wonderful and emotional story between two people growing up with troubled pasts, one in foster care until adopted and the other feeling she needed to be perfect to be loved. After a six year separation, Landon and Piper were given a second chance to repair what went wrong with their prior relationship. Landon needed to get his act together and control the sex, drugs and alcohol he used to disguise his loneliness and desire for Piper, before and after their run in at a Nothing But Trouble concert. He really needed to curb his self-destructive behavior and stop running away when things go wrong. Piper suffered from the perception that she had to be perfect to be worthy of love. What she learns is that no one is perfect and it’s okay to make mistakes and still be loved. Landon and Piper are truly a match made in heaven and hell as they lead one another on a roller coaster journey before being able to accept and give love. Ms. Leigh wrote a wonderful and emotional story that drew me into her book and the lives of her characters, making me forget the world around me. I had trouble putting this book down, turning page after page, not letting go until I turned the last page, still wanting more and really looking forward to the next book in this series. I highly recommend this book to other readers. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Loved It!! Another great rock romance on the guys from Nothing But Trouble! The second book of the series is Landon’s story who happens to be the drummer of the group. Landon is the “Legend” not only for his mad drumming skills but also by being a “legend” onto all the women he beds. (the man has mad skills with that as well) Before Landon the legend hit it big Nothing But Trouble was playing to bars and clubs but was given a chance at hitting it big. The only problem back then was that after being called to a meeting they were given an ultimatum with board a plane that very minute and leave the cell phones behind or they were being dropped... The guys knew this was their one chance of hitting it big especially with the backing they were getting so they all left without a word to anyone. The only problem at that time was that Landon had a woman he was falling in love with and he had no way of contacting her to let her know that he wouldn’t be coming back after his meeting. Piper thought the only thing she could…he walked out on her leaving her heart broken. Years later and the two finally meet again and with everything they both have had to deal with growing up it was hard to see that this second chance would ever work out. I loved Landon and Piper’s story because it was full of surprises and a chemistry that was hot as h*ll. The childhoods they both had was sad and you wondered how they ever could come back and really be a functioning couple with any hope of a future. This series hasn’t lost a step…it started off great with book 1 and I cannot wait to see what Ms. Leigh will give us in the next book of their series.

Wow!! I started reading this book with absolutely no expectations. I read the blurb, it sounded good so I dug in. I was blown away with how much I loved this incredible story. The characters are flawed, troubled, lovable, and completely intriguing. Piper and Landon have a history and it isn't something Piper wants to repeat. He shredded her heart once and she isn't about to give him a chance to do it again. Her job may have her dealing with him but that's as far as she's willing to let it go. Landon has other ideas. He knew walking away from her was a mistake and now he wants a second chance. What will it take for Piper to trust him again and is he really up for it? I absolutely loved this book. Although it's the second in the series I read it with no problem not having read the prior book. I highly recommend this to everyone.

5 Rockin' Stars! Piper and Landon have a past. When Piper was in college and Landon was a struggling musician, they had a love affair that ended with Landon leaving one day and never coming back. And Piper didn't know why ... oh, she knew where he was, after all his band had become a hit and she saw him all over the tabloids and social media with women ... many different women. Six years later she was a talent agent's assistant and is assigned to babysit Landon to make sure he stays out of trouble. The only problem was, she was the one in trouble. Even though Landon was a total a$$hole and a mess, I couldn't help but love him ... he was just so broken and I could see that little boy through his arrogant exterior. And Piper ... I have to give her a lot of credit for even being able to talk to him after what he did to her. She is just that take charge and get it done kinda gal. There were so many twists and turns that I just didn't see coming and kept me turning the page long into the night. This book had me laughing, crying, and swooning ... in other words the trifecta. WOW ... Ms Leigh sure knows how to write a sex scene ... HOT! I highly recommend you take Piper and Landon's journey ... you won't regret it! I can't wait for the next book ... Dax and Verity. I received an ARC courtesy of Forever - Grand Publishing through NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.

This is my first Tara Leigh book, and I have to say, I really enjoyed it. I loved that both Landon and Piper felt like real people who had real problems and made plenty of mistakes while trying to overcome them. I liked the side characters and how the world the author created came to life like a movie screen. Seeing both Landon and Piper grow and develop was fun, and I really liked how everything turned out. This is definitely a series I’d be interesting in reading more of.

What a poignant, and steamy, second chance romance! Piper and Landon fell in love in college when Landon was a struggling musician. Landon disappeared one night without an explanation, leaving Piper heartbroken. Now years later they are thrown back into each other's orbit and are given a second chance. They realize their attraction is stronger than ever and their chemistry is still explosive. Landon has lived with deep regret for choosing music over Piper and jumps at his chance to make things right with the only woman he's ever loved. Piper doesn't see the 'Rock God' but the orphaned boy who just wants to be loved. When he needs her help, she will do what it takes to protect him. But Piper is tired of making her decisions based on a man in her life. She is determined to have Landon on her own terms. They find their way back to each other but still have so much to overcome. I liked that it wasn't easy but a journey that tore down their walls to rebuild a stronger foundation. I love Ms. Leigh's writing and how she covered sensitive issues with honesty and empathy. I especially love the ending. This is a beautiful story that is heartrending, complex, and very sexy. I am really falling for the men from Nothing But Trouble and the strong women who love them, and can't wait for more!

“Legends were just made up stories about people that didn’t really exist.” Rock Legend is book two in the Nothing But Trouble series by Tara Leigh. Wow. That’s the word I first want you to hear me say in regards to this book! Just Wow! While I really enjoyed the first book in this series, Rock King, I simply loved this one. I have read several rock star romances but this might be my first drummer. Does that mean I was a drummer virgin? If I was, I’m not anymore! Landon Cox was the child of addicts and a product of the system. No one expected him to really make anything of himself. Landon’s love was always drumming. So when he met up with Shane and the guys and they formed the band, Nothing But Trouble, it was the perfect life for him. At first they weren’t much more than a garage band. But then when Travis signed them on, they all had hope that they could somehow make it. Landon had met Piper when she was a freshman in college and they were inseparable. They spent two months together and it was the best two months either of them had ever experienced. But when Landon is given a choice, choose the band or the girl, he had to choose the band. His life depended on it. Piper Hastings grew up never being enough for her father. Now in college she is finally free from his expectations. When she met Landon, she thought he was the one. He had very quickly become the center of her world. And then he was gone, just gone. She never knew where or why, only that he was gone. And, he took a part of her with him. Now six years later she works for Travis, Nothing But Trouble’s manager. Only she doesn’t deal with their band. She has managed to keep herself distanced from Landon. Until now. They haven’t been face to face for six years, until now! She should run, not walk, away from him but she can’t. “She was everything I’d ever wanted. She was exactly what I’d never deserve.” Landon has been on a wild ride since their band hit it big. But, no matter how much money he makes, no matter how many women he sleeps with, there has always been that missing piece until Piper was standing in front of him and that missing piece clicked right back into place. It was her that had been missing all these years. “I’d grown a thick skin early in life, and the only one who’d ever gotten under it, burrowing way down deep, was the woman in front of me.” “Piper deserved a great guy – and that wasn’t me. I could give her a great night, maybe more than one. But I couldn’t give her a future. Not the kind that ended well.” Both Piper and Landon had unresolved darkness in their pasts. Both were keeping secrets. Six years ago, they weren’t much more than kids. They really hadn’t gotten to know each other that well. Now they had a second chance. But even as secrets are slowly revealed, can either of them truly move forward? Can Piper forgive Landon for walking away the first time? “How could I have been so wrong? I needed to know him. The rock star and the wounded boy. The loner. The legend. Landon Cox was all of those things. And then some.” This was such a beautiful book. Landon may have been a bad boy but he stole my heart. And when this man falls, he really falls. They had both dealt with so much pain and I wanted so badly for them to find happiness. Tara Leigh has such a beautiful way of writing. Even the sexy times are beautiful. I could not put this book down, and when I was forced to,

Landon is a walking heartbreak. A playboy with a rocker image, but a lonely heart. Piper was a ray of light in his otherwise dark world. When people continuously treat you like nothing, eventually you start to believe it's true. In a world where image is everything, is it possible to show others the man behind the bad boy image? Leigh is not afraid to expose life at it's most painful. There is more beauty in the hard moments. Only then does strength of character and heart show. Rock Legend is a journey though pain, self-doubt, destruction and survival. Landon and Piper take a road trip through hell to find out what heaven really means. A love sonnet perfectly in tune with the heart.
