This book begins with the key leadership foundations of self awareness and character. From there the book provides the leadership blueprints for both leading people and organizations in an easily accessible format. The book is well researched and is filled with lessons learned in the real world from both successes and adversity. I have been a senior leader, consultant and educator. Rules and Tools is a book I always recommend for people newly promoted into leadership positions because it provides a complete map of the territory leaders need to be familiar with in order create healthy organizations. I highly recommend this book. I have used it and General Smith in senior leadership programs for the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Heath and Human Services with excellent results. You cannot go wrong buying and using this book.
