About the Author

I have been hooked on fantasy and science fiction since preschool when I watched Star Trek the Original Series with my family on TV. Then came Star Wars at the theater when I was 5, and a few years later, I discovered the joys of reading fantasy with the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings. I quickly moved up to stronger stuff like Conan, and I currently like The Song of Ice and Fire. The elements I like most about the genres are the high stakes (save the world, overthrow the empire, etc.), the diversity of characters, and how magic or extraordinary technology allows plots to expand in interesting ways. The ability of fantasy and sci fi to include analysis and criticisms of social conditions like religion and politics is especially fascinating as well. When this is done in conventional humdrum fiction, people and readers descend into arguments about whether an opinion is valid or the historical information is accurate instead of assessing the concepts themselves. These interfering issues are not present in the purely metaphorical works that occur sometimes in fantasy and science fiction. Of course, fantasy and sci fi can just be fun as well. I love a good hero or heroine and villains can be the best of all. And there is something therapeutic about picking up a sword or blaster and solving the problems of the world. My taste in genre has inevitably married itself to my love of writing. For some reason I am a person capable of writing novels. The act of creating thousands of pages of fiction does not overwhelm me. Making it a good work of fiction is the hard part that requires countless hours of editing and rewriting and lots of daydreaming too. I have written a four-novel epic fantasy series entitled The Rys Chronicles. The individual novels of the series are: Union of Renegades, The Goddess Queen, Judgment Rising, and The Borderlands of Power. I produce my novels in paperback and ebooks, and readers all over the world have been kind enough to allow me to entertain them. Currently I am in the midst of writing another fantasy series. I expect this one to be 4 novels as well, and, as of February 2009, I am closing in on completing Book II. This series is still untitled and I won't be publishing it until it is complete. This process allows me to fine tune everything throughout the novels. When I'm not writing, my other passions include cooking, growing food, reducing my consumption of fossil fuels, and reading.

I have to say at first I was concerned since the Fantasy genre is not what I have been reading lately. I was not disappointed! Tracy has created an amazing fantasy world full of complex and interesting characters. The Book has multiple heroes, in my opinion, who encounter their individual challenges and rises in power. There are magical creatures who are struggling to be accepted and respected among others who hold their existences in higher esteem. Humans, unaware of the other species, are recruited to fight in the struggle among races.  I was hooked on this wonderfully written book that has magnificent plots and twists of interlocking story lines. You can vividly imagine the various realms introduced throughout the book! Tracy has flawlessly submerged the reader into a fantasy saga that will keep you enthralled with the action of each character’s role in the overall story.  I’m normally disappointed with really short books that introduce you, seduce you, and then leave you hanging. This book does not do that to the reader at all. Over a 1,000 plus pages, on my iPad, gives the reader a book that is exciting and thought provokingly satisfying. I stayed up late and read the book as often as I could, because I had to know what would happen next!  I enjoyed Rys Rising so much that I purchased the others in the series. I have to quell my ever growing curiosity of this enchanted fantasy world!

This was an epic, descriptive and race war story about survival. The author wrote the surroundings so clear that I think that I could draw a picture. I felt like I was inside the book with the surroundings around me as well. I also got involved with the complex yet realistic characters. My favorite part was when the humans teamed up with the Rys. I also liked the complexity of the story. There were so many sub plots. However I found myself wondering about each one. This is a no noise in the background pay attention kind of book. I am giving this book a 4/5. I was given a copy to review, however all opinions are my own.

This book surprised me totally with its many plot threads making me care for each character without knowing the direction of their development. Explaining in great detail their history and life motivation.

Told from many points of reference, the characters of this epic are well conceived, there are too many to list them all and each characters is dynamic and worthy of a better review than I can give here. Death and brutality change a young man from a careless leader to a warlord. Opression, prejiduce and fear hide truths that when out in the open might lead to rebellion. This is more than one story, it truly is an epic tale and worth the time it takes to read it, over 1000 pages on my nook. I'm in love with the writers style and attention to detail, this a pleasure, almost an indulgence. Read it, love it, read it again!!!

I was introduced to the series by a free book- that was for the rys chronicals- i read this book as a prequel and it fascinates me for the rest of the story. In case you missed it there is a corollary to our world and society. Dosturbing to think about. Loved the book. Love the series! Meridith
