This book shows how an atmosphere of permission-giving, which signals the end of leaders as enablers, can help church leaders transcend bureaucracy and enhance spiritual gifts rather than assign them. The 'sacred cows' of control and regulation can be devoured, as leaders and people are converted to a new style of ministry.

I read this book when it was published 5 years ago and find it still relevant today. The church must change and evolve in order to gather Christians who are aware of the historical shortcomings of church hierarchy, traditions for traditions' sake, fundamentalism, and other problematic and judgmental aspects of modern faith. To create disciples and to send forth apostles that embody the truths found in Jesus' life and work is an ever-fresh challenge.
