Sacrifice Me: The Demon (Episode 1) by Sarra Cannon

On her twenty-first birthday, Franki Smith receives a dozen black roses and an unsigned invitation to a nightclub that doesn't seem to exist. The dark gift haunts her because of two handwritten words near the top. Little Bird. Her mother's nickname for her.

Only, Franki's mother disappeared from her life without a trace exactly three years ago to the day.

Who sent the mysterious invitation? Franki's need to answer this question will lead her to the doorway of a strange and dangerous new world. A world her mother went to great lengths to keep hidden.

A world someone desperately wants Franki to discover.

Sarra Cannon has outdone herself in the first installment of what I'm sure is going to be an amazing series. I was pulled in immediately and needed more at the end of the first episode. The great thing about this series is that they are short and quick reads. Cannon gives us just enough to leave us hungry for more! I won't give away too much, but this series has it all - Quick installments so the laundry doesn't get too far behind, a steamy tortured hotty of a guy that you just NEED more of, a strong beautiful heroine that of course we all picture as ourselves and a strong story line with lots of twists and turns. It's fabulous - trust me, Momma Knows! While this is set in the same universe as Beautiful Demons you do NOT need to have read that series to understand what's happening in Sacrifice Me. Sarra Cannon just keeps getting better and Momma's already read the next installment!

Franki has not had the best start in life. She has always felt that her mother was forced to look after her. She never met her father or any other relatives. When her mum abandoned her on her eighteenth birthday, she resigned herself to being unwanted. Now, she is turning 21 and friend and roommate, Katy, is determined to make sure she has a great birthday. But when she receives a box with black roses and a card with an address on it she's not sure what to make of it. Especially as they call her "Little Bird" the nickname her mum used for her. After a disappointing start to their evening, Katy and Franki head out in search of Venom. Franki finds more than a nightclub!! She is thrust into an unknown destiny and then she meets Rend, handsome and mysterious bartender. We learn that there is more to Franki than meets the eye and she and her new found friends are facing a dangerous future, with treachery close at hand! I loved the characters and the book is quite fast paced. I'm looking forward to the rest of the episodes!!!

Linked to this book because of Love & Decay, which is totally worth waiting 2 weeks and paying 99 cents for each small story. This series, however, is not that fast paced and the romance so far is a zero. What is there to keep coming back for? Author should have left it as one book.
