Can't wait to turn the pages of Salt Run and see what lies beneath this dark fun-filled novel. Hope to see more from the same author. Will be back after a thorough read :'

...with a very good story. Chris Gallen introduces us to a cast of characters, an idyllic place, and a storyline as glib as any we've seen from Dorsey or Hiaasen. Like those guys, Gallen is fun to read. From where ever he is out there in that place that has no saltwater, I hope he'll meander back for some more inspiration and maybe, just maybe, the next installment will feature Dirk Appleton and Randy Glick. I'd guess those two might be up to something out there in the islands. Thanks for this one, Gallen.

As a reader who enjoys supporting first time novelists, and who in also being a Canadian having done the ¿snow bird¿ trip down to Florida and the St. Augustine area, I found this book very entertaining to say the least. Author Chris Gallen writes as a seasoned author would, this is definetely not a novel you would expect to find coming from a first time novelist. I found myself turning pages quickly to keep up with the wonderfully colorful cast of characters that come to life in a quick and entertaining fashion. The setting was perfect, the characters complimented each other and the story in such a way it was easy to let the mind wander and start putting faces with names, and allowed me to paint pictures in my mind for each and every scene as it unfolded. I don¿t often do the 5 star rating, but this book is deserving of such, as it stands out from the rest of the usual novel¿s being written today. From beginning to end Salt Run leaves you flipping pages at a fast pace!! I eagerly await to see what comes next from author Chris Gallen.

A madcap cast of characters and situations, along with a look at the intellectual as well as the seedy side of the nation's oldest beach town, make Christopher Gallen's first novel the best beach read of 2003. Fun, adventure, and suspense, it's all there.

I ordered this based on the fact that it fell into the same genre as some other writers I like (S.V. Date, Laurence Shames) and the setting intrigued me as I've been to St. Augustine a few times. I took a risk on the title and it was rewarded. The story is fresh and has some great characterizations. The setting descriptions are absolutely great. If you like books about Florida that tend to be on the humorous side you should enjoy this one.
