About the Author

Margaret Ryan was one of Scotland's most prolific and celebrated writers for young people. Her books include Fat Alfie, Airy Fairy, Operation Boyfriend and the Little Blue series. Margaret won the Scottish Arts Council Award for The Queen's Birthday Hat.

Nathan Reed has been a professional illustrator since graduating from Falmouth College of Arts in 2000. He was shortlisted for the Serco Prize for Illustration in 2014 and for the World Illustration Awards in 2019 for his picture book, Incredible You.
A former teacher, Margaret Ryan is one of Scotland's most prolific and imaginative writers for young people. She wrote the Fat Alfie and Airy Fairy series for Scholastic, the Operation Boyfriend and Little Blue series for Hodder, and two Littlest Dragon titles for HarperCollins. In 2000, she won the Scottish Arts Council Award for The Queen's Birthday Hat.
Nathan Reed has been a professional illustrator since graduating from Falmouth College of Arts in 2000. He was shortlisted for the Serco Prize for Illustration in 2014 and for the World Illustration Awards in 2019 for his latest picture book, Incredible You. He also illustrated the cover of last year's Christmas edition of Time Out London. Nathan lives in London with his wife and two boys and when not illustrating he can often be found watching his beloved football team, Tottenham Hotspur.
