As it does in any team sport, Dillion is determined to get a score. He goes after Claire like any man that is sunk and gets what he wants. Side point both Kara and Phoebe have their babies.

JoAnn Ross delivers another emotional journey in Sea Glass Winter. A wonderful installment in her Shelter Bay series. Tech Sergeant Dillon Slater left his high stress job in the military as a bomb specialist for the quieter life in Shelter Bay. He teaches high school physics and is the basketball coach. Dillon has his work cut out with the team, that hadn’t had a winning season in years. Seems a basketball phenom has just moved into the district and every thinks he is the answer to the teams prayers. That may be true but Dillon can’t keep his mind off Matt’s tempting mother. Claire Templeton moved her teenage son from LA to Shelter bay hoping to keep him on the straight and narrow. She is hoping he will find the direction he so needs in his life. Claire hope that the basketball coach can be a positive influence on Matt but Dillon seems to be having a totally different effect on Claire. Dillon’s charm and good looks are melting the walls Claire has around her heart. As Matt is finding his way around a new school, his mom is spending more time with Dillon. Dillon’s calm and steady influence is having an effect on both mother and son. Claire and Dillon keep running into each other and a friendship develops. That friendship slowly grows into an attraction that neither can ignore. Sea Glass Winter is a book that will stay in your heart and mind for a long time. The family and friends connection just makes a wonderful book even deeper. Claire and Dillon’s relationship is built on more then just their physical connection, its deeper because of their respect for each other. It was really a treat for me to revisit past characters and to catch up with them. I can’t remember when I have enjoyed a book and a series more then the Shelter Bay series.

In Joann Ross' latest installment from Shelter Bay, readers of the series will enjoy catching up with residents we met earlier and seeing some storylines come to completion. Unfortunately, this keeps our main characters from being as engaging as they could be. Much of the drama and conflict we've come to expect from characters finding their peace in Shelter Bay are missing. After meeting and loving soldiers fighting the demons from past battles (ghosts of fallen comrades, a frozen heart after too many death notifications, etc.) and women battling their own issues (an adulterous husband, forging new relationships with mothers), I expected more depth in Dillon's and Claire's back stories. Readers who already have spent time with Shelter Bay will enjoy catching up with old friends. Readers new to the series will find Sea Glass Winter a heartwarming romance, but should definitely read the first four books in the series before moving on.

Great series! The Shelter Bay series may be considered romance novels, but they are so much more than that. They are good stories with a lot of depth and great story lines. I love getting to revisit characters from previous books, making me feel like I am coming home to friends and family. Awesome books!
