Overview

Secrets Of A Duchess by Kaitlin O'Riley

On the death of their beloved father, Caroline Armstrong and her sister are whisked away to London by their grandparents. Though determined to please her doting relatives, there is one thing Caroline vows she will never do: marry. So at her society debut, she decides to use her keen intelligence to keep suitors at bay. . .

Handsome, tall, and titled, Alexander Woodward, Duke of Woodborough, is the catch of the Season--but he doesn't want to be caught. He finds a kindred spirit in the witty Caroline and makes her a scandalous proposition: they will pretend to court to dissuade any overtures of marriage. . .

Caroline thought she would be safe for the Season--and that her deepest secret would remain locked away. But with each minute spent with Alex, she finds herself increasingly enraptured by his charm, his kindness. . .his kisses. Caught up in a dizzying dance of desire, Caroline accepts another proposal from Alex--one that puts her in the most dangerous position of all. . .

While i loved the romance, i thought it was incrediblly stupid of caroline to keep such a secret from alex. And i was also disappointed in her when she felt she needed to read all of stevens leters. That hurt alex. But it was still a good story with a really good ending. Phyl

It is certainly one of the worst books I have ever read.
Bad, predictable chick-lit.
Some "period romances" at least offer some entertainment, this one doesn't.
It's tedious.
You can predict what'll happen next, how each character will act, who will say what.
Romance by the numbers.

I love this book! This is so far, the best historical novel I've read. I just bought it two days ago and read it only at night before going to sleep. I totally recommend this book!

I have to admit the theme in the story is not new but was told in a fun and exciting manner. This was a great first attempt by the author. Nothing sweeter than love at first sight story!! Great vacation book as it moves with little effort to the end. So pick it up for some fun, light reading.
