There was very little plot to this book in the Reaper series. Unless constant sex was meant to be the main plot. Loved the characters. I hope the next book will have good balance with sex and plot to make it an excellent read.

In the last few years, Ms. Feehan's books have been hit or miss. This is a real miss. Just shy of soft porn, this book had very little depth. There was a potentially good story, but it was constantly interrupted by endless graphic sex scenes. Consequently, the ending was rushed and unsatisfying. The only series that I still find fascinating is her Ghostwalkers series. All the rest lack action and depth. I believe she has more talent as an author than what I have read in her last books.

4.5 stars--intriguing, edgy, energetic 4.5 stars---SHADOW KEEPER is the third instalment in Christine Feehan’s contemporary, adult SHADOW RIDERS erotic, paranormal romance series focusing on a species of humans- The Ferraro Family- that are able to ‘use and ride’ shadows, to move about in secret. This is Giovanni Ferraro, and cocktail waitress Sasha Provis’s story line. SHADOW KEEPER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. SOME BACKGROUND: The Shadow rider male must find his mate –a woman who is capable of riding the shadows-or at the very least with the ability to bear children with the shadow-riding gene. Within the family, the Ferraro siblings are tasked with finding a mate, fated by DNA, who is capable of continuing the family line. Told from several third person perspectives including Sasha and Giovanni SHADOW KEEPER follows the building relationship between Giovanni Ferraro, and cocktail waitress Sasha Provis. To the public and the paparazzi Giovanni Ferraro is the family playboy, a role he despises since the shooting that left him unable to ‘ride the shadows’ but a role that keeps the spotlight away from the family business. Meeting Sasha Provis, the newest cocktail waitress at the family owned club, pulled at more than our hero’s heart but at their mutual shadows the began to intertwine. When several MMA fighters turned their attentions to Sasha Provis, Giovanni knew he had to protect the woman with whom he would fall in love. What ensues is the building and fated romance between Sasha and Giovanni, as the Ferraro family come together to protect one of their own. Sasha Provis is a feisty, independent heroine who struggles to take care of her elder brother since the car accident that left him a shell of his former self. Alone but well aware of her surroundings Sasha and her shadow will cross paths with her future, a man as dangerous and powerful as he is beautiful. The relationship is intimate, erotic, intense and provocative. There is some light bondage and rope play. All of Giovanni’s sibling play secondary and supporting roles, as well as a number of cousins, who use the shadows as they work for the family business, meting out justice for those unable to protect themselves. The Ferraro family is a tight-knit, fiercely protective family unwilling to risk the lives of the people they love including those under the protection in the Ferraro territory. Christine Feehan does an incredible job creating the intricate, and secretive world of the ‘shadow riders’. The premise is intriguing, edgy and energetic; the characters are inspiring and colorful; the romance is seductive and dramatic. SHADOW KEEPER is an engaging, enjoyable and imaginative look at the paranormal.

Giovanni is living the high life, fast cars and woman but little does everyone know that he is just trying to deflect eyes from the family business of Shadow Riding. Many would love to be in Giovanni’s shoes, but in Giovanni’s case, he hates the role he must personify. When he finally meets his perfect match, Sasha, all she sees is the playboy and not the man beneath. Its his job to convince her that she is his forever. Sasha is from a ranch in Wyoming, coming to the city after her parents are killed and her brother is critically brain injured. Sasha brings her brother to a place where they can provide best care possible, but Sasha is barely keeping her head above water…working two jobs…and doesn’t have time for a playboy in her life. I’ve loved the Shadow series from the start, it just works for me. Shadow Keeper just felt different from the past two installments but yet it still works for me :D. This is my favorite book so far in this series. Sensual with a capital S, Shadow Keeper is a tantalizing, provocative, and flat out sexy mystery thriller all wrapped up in marvelous paranormal romance. I received this ARC copy of Shadow Keeper from Berkley Publishing Group. This is my honest and voluntary review.

If I wanted porn, I would buy porn. This writers series across the board have taken a turn for the distasteful. The storyline was good, but could have been a shory story. I have read sexy and steamy and this was not it. It felt forced and fake. Goodbye author!! All your works and series have taken a turn into nasty.

When a shadow rider falls in love it is fast and furious. Gee saw Sasha often at his club. She was a waitress there. He never talked to her because she did not serve in the VIP section. Today she did. Today Gee’s heart unlocked and his shadow merged with Sasha.

Giovanni has been sidelined due to an injury that prevents him from riding the shadows. So it is his turn to keep the paparazzi focused on him and his buddies, as the family does their jobs in the shadows. Sasha overhears Giovanni making up bets with his friends on how far they can get with a girl on the dance floor. To say the least, she is not impressed! But attraction strikes between the two of them. But now accidents start happening, and they aren't sure who the target is. Sasha? She is only working the club to earn money to take care of her brother who was hurt in the wreck that killed their parents. Giovanni? They have plenty of enemies. As they dodge danger, and become closer, the intrigue continues. Once you have been claimed by one of the Ferraro's, you are family. No one messes with family. You really get a great glimpse into the love and loyalty of the Ferraro's in this story. Very hot, hot, hot as most of Christine's books are, and she leaves you wanting the next book to be out right now! #ShadowKeeper

Outstanding! Shadow Keeper is the third book in the Shadow Rider series and with each successive book the Ferraro story just gets better, more exciting, and action-packed. This is the story of Giovanni Ferraro and Sasha Provis. Sasha has moved from her family ranch in Wyoming to Chicago in order to find the best care for a loved one. Giovanni and Sasha paths cross, of all places, in one of the Ferraro’s nightclub where she is working as a waitress trying to support her brother, Sandlin, who is in a brain trauma rehabilitation center following a car accident that killed their parents. Sasha’s love and devotion to her beloved brother speaks volumes of her character and as one born with ‘shadow blood,’ she fits Giovanni completely. But there is more to Sasha’s family background that connects her even more to the Ferraros and the shadow riders. I liked Sasha because she is neither an abused or exploited woman; she is self-assured and good to others without ignoring her own basic needs. Giovanni is protective and devoted to his mate and gives her just enough space to be choose him for a lifetime. But along the way, there are enemies who set friends against each other and try to take out Sasha and the Ferraros. It was awesome spending more time with the Ferraros and seeing the progression of the stories of other characters. The five Ferraro siblings are characters I want to root for…Stephano, Ricco, Giovanni, Vittorio (the enigmatic piano man), Taviano, and Emmanuelle (the only girl). I adore Emme and hope that she get to have what her mother missed out on, a man who adores her and who she can be open about with being a shadow rider. I am just not sure of the motivations of that Valentino Saldi, he seems to be toying with her heart and being that their Italian families are lifelong nemesis, the Ferraro’s and Saldi’s are modern Montague’s and Capulets. Younger brother Taviano has to walk a fine line with the broken Nicoletta, a mate he will have to go slow with and find their way forward. Their dragon of a mother, Eloisa, makes a brash and bold appearance, castigating her children and their mates. But understanding more of Eloisa’s frustration and never knowing that her husband loved her, her outbursts are understandable if not welcomed. Francesca, Stephano’s wife, is the calm, reassuring stabilizing force in this family; she was the spark of hope and continuity for this family. Shadow Rider was such an enjoyable read. For me, reading fiction is about enjoyment and escapism’ I love when the writer takes me on an exploration of new worlds with interesting stories, intriguing characters and most of all, the book needs to leave me feeling excited and wanting more. The Shadow series does that for me. I cannot wait for the next installment. Five shining stars!

Shadow Keeper by Christine Feehan is the 3rd book in her fantastic Shadow series. I love this series, as the premise though paranormal, it is different and fantastic. Refresher: Shadow riders have the ability to blend themselves to the shadows wherever they are, making themselves invisible to anyone. They have been in existence for centuries, with all members of their families trained to use those abilities. The family runs a legitimate business; they use their ability to help others in need to solve various problems and dispense justice. They are an extremely powerful and close-knit family that is totally loyal to one another, also protecting the people that in live in their community. Giovanni Ferraro, our hero, has an injury to his leg, which keeps him from shadow riding. Instead, he hangs around the family owned nightclub, keeping up his appearance of being a playboy. He finds himself attracted to the new waitress, but when she overhears him and his cousins fooling around about betting on who gets a woman to seduce them, Giovanni notices her disdain and becomes belligerent; something is never does. What is it about this girl that has him enthralled? Sasha Provis, our heroine, works two jobs; during the day at the local deli, and at night at the nightclub. She needs money to take care of her older brother, who is in a rehab after a serious accident. Sasha is filling in for someone; she has to cover the upper tier, which consists of famous and rich men. When three of them go too far, try to rip her top, it is Giovanni who will come to her rescue. He takes her to the local pizza place to unwind, and apologize for his behavior. Giovanni knows that Sasha is the one for him, and he can sense that she can do shadows, though she is not experienced in that. A slow built romance begins, as Giovanni does everything to win Sasha’s trust, and their romance is sizzling hot. He was a great hero, doing everything he can to help her financially with her brother. Sasha was a wonderful heroine, who loved her brother, though he does not remember her, and she does everything in her power to pay for everything herself, not wanting the Ferraro’s to contribute to the expense. Shadow Keeper is also a mystery, as to who is trying to break up Giovanni and Sasha, and putting other lives in danger. This will also bring Sasha and Giovanni closer, as well as indoctrinating Sasha to the Ferraro family. This was lots of fun to watch her bond with the ladies, and begin to trust all of them. What follows is an exciting adventure, where both Sasha and Giovanni find themselves under attack, with the entire Ferraro family working hard to find the culprit. This was also a very sensual romance, as Feehan had a lot of sex scenes between our couple. The intense pulse pounding story did remain in the forefront, but I did feel that the sex scenes a bit too many. What I love the most about this series is all the wonderful characters that Feehan has created. I love all of the Ferraros, and those they fall in love with that join the family. They are an awesome family, with amazing abilities that make this so much fun. Shadow Keeper is a captivating, exciting, suspenseful, action packed story, with a wonderful couple that steams the pages. This is a fantastic paranormal series that you should be reading, and very well written by Christine Feehan.

The new characters add great dimension to both the individual story and the series as a whole. She is truly a gifted writer with all of her series (who could pick a favorite???) Any day a new Christine Feehan book is published is a GREAT day!

The third installment of the Shadow Riders series focuses on Giovanni Ferraro, the one who was shot and can’t travel through shadows, so his job has become the quintessential playboy in order to give his family the alibis they need to do their work. He hates it. It has caused him to become jaded and cynical because all of the women he meets only want his money or the publicity his family name can provide, never ever him. Sasha is a waitress in the Ferraro club in Chicago and she unfortunately overheard him tell his brothers and cousins about a game that is vulgar and demeaning. A game based on points earned for having women do certain things without being asked or told; they have to offer it freely or initiate it. The moment Giovanni sees that Sasha has overheard the rules of this game he doesn’t understand his reaction to her anger and judgement of him but the fact that she stands up to him in her own way snags his attention. When he later has to rescue her after she is assaulted by other customers, he whisks her away from the club and that starts the whirlwind relationship between the two. She doesn’t take his crap and she speaks her mind and she doesn’t trust why Giovanni seems to be pursuing her. They are both stubborn and strong willed. When he finds out she is working two full time jobs to pay for her brother’s medical care, he can’t help but admire and respect her more and more and he really wants to take care of her, though she tells him how she feels about that quite succinctly. Sasha has had it rough ever since her parents were killed in a car accident and her older brother suffered a severe brain injury. She knows she doesn’t belong in Giovanni’s world but she can’t help but be drawn to him and see beneath his public persona. When a stalker breaks into her apartment Giovani and the rest of the Ferraro family come to her aid and the conflict becomes more complex and intriguing. They have to work together to figure out who her stalker is and it isn’t a clear cut case to say the least. I loved their adventure. The plot was multifaceted and engaging. The characters were entertaining and strong and I loved coming back to the Ferraro family. The series is really standing out in the Feehan universe for me as one of my favorites for sure.
