I wouldn't recommend reading Shattered Vows as a stand alone novel. While it is possible reader might find they are missing the connecting that those who have read book 1 and 2 will have. The author creates a group of friends who are connected though pain, friendship and love. Book 3 is about Molly and Jase who has been friends for a long time. As a readers of the series I was hoping that Shattered Vows would have flash backs of Molly and Jase. The story is quick fast easy read that fan of Kaylea Cross will enjoy. Thank you to the Author and Netgalley for a copy of Kaylea Cross Shattered Vows.

Molly Boyd’s husband, Carter, is dead. He suffered greatly from PTSD and was becoming a danger to her and to himself. As a nurse and wife, she had done everything she could to help him, but it was never enough. Molly is pregnant and Carter never knew that he was going to be a father. Thank goodness for her many friends in Crimson Point, especially Jase Weaver. Jase was Carter’s best friend and along with her many friends has helped Molly through this terrible tragedy. Jase has loved Molly, from afar, and has always had her back and now she needs him more than ever. Something in Carter’s past has brought danger to Molly and her baby and Jase will be there to protect her. Can he keep her safe and protect his heart? Molly is beginning to have “more than friend” feelings for Jase, but does this make her disloyal to Carter? A wonderful continuation of the Crimson Point series where the town takes care of their own and friends become family. Ms. Cross writes a wonderful romantic suspense series making you (especially me) eager for the next book. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. Molly had one night with her ex-husband, Carter, before he died, so she's pregnant and all by her self. Jase was Carter's best friend, who always loved and looked out for Molly, especially when Carter came back from Afganistan with a serious brain injury which led to erratic behaviour.  Now Molly has Carter's trouble chasing her, Jase will be there for her, he always has been, but these feelings she's been having, are they right? Another great story from Kaylea, which lots of old favourites in there

Shattered Vows (Crimson Point Series Book 3) by Kaylea Cross is the story I have been waiting to read. Yeah. It was such as impressive as I thought it would be. Jase and Molly were introduced in the first book of the series, along with Molly’s troubled husband, Carter. Definitely it is an unrequited love triangle story. I for one, enjoy hearing more about how the three met, with the faithfulness of Molly and Jase to Carter. Now though they are both free to love. I will admit that Jase waited a long time for Molly which I am not sure a man would really do. Hey, who am I to say, Jase knew other women but none really seemed to catch and hold his interest. The big element of suspense and danger was a big surprise to me. It did hold my attention, since the villain’s POV is also given. I could also feel sympathy towards him, until I saw him in action. Then I just wanted him stopped, not just before he hurt Molly and the baby but before he could hurt anyone else. As much I enjoyed the romance of the story, I read to see how close he would be able to get to Molly, though I was sure Jase and the others would stop him in the end. Sorrow especially in the beginning but happiness too. I will say my emotions ran the gamut with Shattered Vows. Surprise, terror and some anger as well as tears and smiles as I read. Couldn’t put it down but was sad to finish it too, I wanted more of this band of brothers. Now I can’t wait for the next Crimson Point book. The publisher/author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

4.25 stars-- SHATTERED VOWS is the third instalment in Kaylea Cross’ contemporary, adult CRIMSON POINT romantic suspense series focusing on the people of Crimson Point, Oregon, and a group of former Special Forces soldiers. This is ER nurse Molly Boyd, and thirty-four year old, former Special Forces soldier Sergeant Jase Weaver’s story line. SHATTERED VOWS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion as there is an on-going premise throughout. NOTE: SHATTERED VOWS contains scenes of graphic violence that may not be suitable for more sensitive readers. If you have not read the previous instalments, there may be some spoilers in my reviews. Told from several third person perspectives including Molly and Jase SHATTERED VOWS follows the friends to lovers relationship between ER nurse Molly Boyd, and thirty -four year old, former Special Forces soldier Sergeant Jase Weaver. Molly’s husband Carter Boyd’s life spiralled out of control following an IED attack that left him with a traumatic brain injury. Weeks after Carter’s death Molly discovers her late husband’s past has come seeking retribution, retribution Molly is unable to pay. For years Jase Weaver has stayed on the sidelines watching the woman he loves marry his best friend, a friend whose injury destroyed them all. With a second chance to make things right, Jase starts a slow seduction of the woman he loves but a seduction that is stopped before it begins. What ensues is the building romance between Molly and Jase, and the fall-out as Molly is targeted by her late-husband’s past. Jase Weaver has been in love with his best friend’s wife from the first time they met but Molly fell in love with someone else. Molly’s life was never the same following the IED attack that damaged her husband beyond repair, damages that would destroy Carter’s life. The relationship between Molly and Jase is a best friend’s wife to lovers romance that focuses on heart break, grief, and the fall-out of war. Molly and Jase struggled with the guilt of moving on while the man they once loved was no longer alive. The $ex scenes are passionate and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. We are reintroduced to Sierra and Beckett (Fractured Honor #1), Noah and Poppy (Buried Lies #2), as well as the return of Royal Marine Aidan MacIntyre; and Tiana Fitzgerald. Tiana and Aidan’s story line is next in Rocky Ground. The world building continues to focus on the friendships and relationships of the former Special Forces soldiers: their struggle to move forward as the ghosts from the past continue to haunt their days and nights. SHATTERED VOWS is a story of grief and loss, friendships and love, struggle and battling demons from the past. The premise is intriguing and engaging; the characters are colourful, charismatic and spirited; the romance is captivating and seductive. SHATTERED VOWS is a sexy, sensitive and edgy story of second chances and HEA.

OMG, I LOVED this book. If I could give it a 10 star rating I would. The story of Molly Boyd and Jase Weaver is one filled with heartaches, and sadness, but also with tender moments and hope. Molly, now pregnant, is recovering from a tragedy and later threats , due to her deceased husband’s actions. A man who never recovered from the injuries while serving his country. Jase has been in love with her from the moment he met her, but she chose his friend, Carter. Now, he’s her support and her rock. But things get complicated when she is threatened. It’s a story that will grab you from the start. At times your heart will hurt, and you will shed tears, while hoping that they get their HEA. Aside from an engaging plot and complex characters, it’s also a story about the dangers that our brave men and women undergo in order to keep us safe so that we can continue to live as free citizens. Some troops return with physical, emotional, and psychological injuries. It is our duty , as a society , to help not only the injured, but also those who love and care for them. Another winner by this very talented author. Can’t wait to see what else she has in store for us. Hopefully Mac’s story. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

I have been waiting for Molly and Jason's story for two books and Kaylea Cross has delivered a strong, beautiful story about unrequited love. Jason has been in love with Molly for a long time but she was his best friend wife and had a lot of troubles to overcome, including the blessing of being pregnant. In addition to all the trouble her deceased ex-husband left behind, a mafia debt collector is behind her to pay his debts. Jason and her friends (who are all like a family) get together to help her and Molly is still fighting her feelings for him. I am in love with this series and its characters. Kaylea Cross's writing is so good and engaging. A very good book to read!

Jase Weaver fell in love with Molly Boyd the first time he saw her but unfortunately it wasn't mutual. Instead, Molly married Jase's best friend and he's spent years pushing aside his feelings and being there as friend. After the tragic death of Molly's soon to be ex-husband, Jase can't keep his feelings a secret any longer. Shattered Vows frustrated me in all the best ways because I wanted the character to be together and be happy but the world just kept throwing obstacles in their way. From the very beginning of this series, we've followed Molly's tragic journey as she and her husband dealt with his traumatic brain injury and increasingly erratic behavior. With divorce papers on the table, Molly suddenly finds herself a widow and it's her friends that she leans on for support. I really admired Molly's strength to get through everything thrown at her; she handles it all with grace, dignity, and grit. I wasn't sure how the issue of guilt would play into the story but I thought that Kaylea Cross handled Molly's emotions and concerns really well. I also loved the deep friendship Molly has with Sierra and Poppy and how much we saw how important that friendship was. Watching Jase deal with his long held feelings for Molly was so heartbreaking because you could tell how much he cared for her and how much he was willing to sacrifice for Molly. We so often see books with the heroine pining for the hero so I liked that Shattered Vows was the opposite. I loved Jase's steadfast and dependable personality and the way he's always looking out for Molly. He makes her feel safe and I think it just took time for Molly to see how much he cared for her beyond friendship. I do wish that Molly and Jase could have figured things out faster because once they get together they have such amazing chemistry. Jase's playful and charming way was exactly what Molly needed to move forward with her life. This wonderful and emotional romance blended perfectly with the suspenseful side story and I can't wait for more in this series.
