Dr. Myers' book gives an enthralling look into what victims face in an active shooter situation. It is a must read not only for those who have experienced such trauma, but anyone who deals with PTSD. This first hand account of her experience is a vivid behind the scenes
ook at what has become an all too common tragedy in today's world. --Allison Martin, MAED
Author, "Could There Be A God?" and "Helping Your Child Survive Trauma" " . . . The point of view from the middle of building 197 is good and shows what was going on in the author's mind, what her experiences were from what she saw, what she could hear, and what she felt as she hid under her desk . . " --Andrew Blanco
Shooting at the Navy Yard is not a feel-good book, but it is an important one. There is a lot to gain from these pages, but especially if you distrust the media and like to hear accounts from the sources themselves. One idea that Mrs. Myers brings up a few times that stuck with me as a reader was that when the shooting first started, it was hard to believe they were gunshots because they had a false sense of security in a Navy building. She is a fantastic storyteller, and her attention to detail is impeccable. It is hard to read because it is difficult to imagine what she went through on that day and the continued effects on her psyche. I could see this story being turned into a movie at some point, and hopefully, they consult Mrs. Myers when they do. --Arthur Thares, Hollywood Book Reviews
