About the Author

Maurice Riordan was born in Co. Cork. His first book, A Word from the Loki (1995), was shortlisted for the T. S. Eliot Prize, as was his most recent, The Water Stealer (2013). He is Emeritus Professor of Poetry at Sheffield Hallam, and a former editor of The Poetry Review (2013-17).
A Word from the Loki (1995), was nominated for the T. S. Eliot Prize, as was The Water Stealer (2013). Floods (2000) was a Book of the Year in both the Sunday Times and the Irish Times, and The Holy Land (2007) won the Michael Hartnett Award. He lives in London, where he has taught at Imperial College and Goldsmiths College. Riordan was Editor of The Poetry Review from 2013 to 2017 and is Emeritus Professor of Poetry at Sheffield Hallam University.
