Smolder is a name that matches this story in more ways than one. It is not only because of the setting of smokejumpers in a small town but also because the romance between Captain Sam Gaskill and Laurel Keenan burns through the pages. As a former Army Ranger, Sam had a successful career but now he wanted a new life. One that did not include staying in Texas or his having late wife’s horse. He figured becoming the Captain of the Smoke jumpers in Glacier Creek and selling the horse would do just that. He had great people to work with and new career, the horse would be boarded and sold at a local ranch. So falling in love was the farthest thing from his mind especially after he had hurt his late wife badly not just by being gone constantly but the risks that came with being in the military. Those wishes seem to go by the wayside when he met Laurel, the ranch owner’s daughter, for when she was around he felt weak in the knees and realized maybe, just maybe magic between two people was possible. Growing up Laurel Keenan had dreams of leaving town and being successful in whatever she did. All those came to a crashing end when she got pregnant by a high-risk taker boyfriend and her mother got sick. So instead she had to concentrate on helping with the ranch, raising her son and being a good daughter aka boring life. She did not want to risk falling in love or taking a chance at anything again ever. So falling in love was the farthest thing from her mind, especially with a smokejumper because that would mean taking not just one risk but two. But the magic between them made her start rethinking her ways and realizing sometimes you need to take a chance. One more time Tracy Solheim has wowed us with a romance that hits home in every way possible. Her words are so believable that it possible that if you close your eyes for a moment you can see everything laid out before you perfectly. The smiles, the love, the horses, the child being happy and the list continues... IF you have a chance then definitely READ THIS BOOK!!

In this kick off to the new Firefighters of Montana series, Tracy Solheim introduces us to the team of sexy smoke jumpers, and takes us into the world of the new captain of the squad, Sam Gaskill. She delivers great characters with lots of sweetness & sass, along with some sexy heat. Really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the rest! Former Army Ranger Sam Gaskill is relocating to Glacier Creek, Montana to start a new job as the captain to a team of smoke-jumpers. He's glad to get away from Texas and it's memories of his late wife. Laurel Keenan couldn't wait to leave Glacier Creek and explore the excitement the rest of the world had to hold, but a surprise pregnancy along with an ailing Mother brought her back home within a short time. Sam and Laurel are drawn to each other the minute they set eyes on each other, but they both have their issues and try to steer clear. He thinks he failed one woman already and doesn't want to trust his heart to another. She thinks she has to be secure and stable and can't risk her son's future to a risk-taking lifestyle. Resistance doesn't last for long, and they are soon enjoying each other's company ... but will they ever be able to trust enough to have any type of future together?

Smolder by Tracy Solheim is a great contemporary romance. This is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited reading time. Ms. Solheim has delivered a well-written book and furnished it with outstanding, lovable characters. Sam lands in Montana after leaving the military as captain of Glacier Creek's forest service station. Laurel is a single mom finishing up her classes to get her CPA. Laurel and Sam's story is loaded with drama, humor, sizzle and action. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading more from Tracy Solheim soon. Smolder is book 1 of the Firefighters Of Montana Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

Where there's smoke there's fire! This was my first book by author Tracy Solheim, but it won’t be my last! There was nothing about this story I didn’t love. The characters are so richly layered you can’t help but get sucked into the pain and uncertainty they each go through in trying to keep their already broken hearts safe from further damage. Add to that the sizzle between Sam and Laurel, and the danger of being a smokejumper fireman, and you’ve got a recipe for a book you just can’t put down. Highly recommended!

Loved the story and well written.... This is part of a series about smoke jumpers responsible for protecting Glacier National Park in Montana... Now reading the fourth book, all by different, authors and I can honestly say I enjoyed them all... I would recommend reading them in order because while the authors are all different the characters do reappear in each book ... Learned a lot about this very dangerous job and the men who seek out this way of life... Hot fires and hot romance as well... Well done to the authors and Thank God for men who choose this life to protect our natural resources...

Smolder was an entertaining and spicy read that helped me pass a few hours. Since it's the first in a series there is a lot of setup for future books and I'll admit I was a little overwhelmed by the number of characters being introduced, especially for a book that's only about 200 pages. That being said, Sam and Laurel have pretty good chemistry once they get over their initial antagonistic meeting. Of course, both are incredibly resistant to the idea of a relationship so they try to keep things casual instead. While I liked Sam and Laurel together they weren't individually my favorite characters. Laurel has one of the worst cases of foot-in-the-mouth and she says some pretty bad things early on. But I did like her journey of accepting what she really wants in life and not giving up her dreams just because she's a single mother. Sam is pretty stoic and close-minded about getting involved with another woman. In the beginning Sam throws around the "my wife is dead" card a few times to push Laurel away and I wasn't crazy about that because he made it seem like he was grieving over a lost love when he really wasn't. Not to say that Sam didn't care for his late wife, but it's more complicated than it appears. Overall, I enjoyed this while I was reading it but it just didn't make a lasting impression for me.

Received an ARC for my fair review for netgalley. We have Sam and Laurel, to very stubborn people, who are attracted to each other and not sure if they are willing to put their hearts on the line again. I always love stories of firefighters, and military men, so right there it had one me over, I loved the rest of the guys, it was cute story, and kept me fairly interest, new series, hopefully will keep my interest, enjoy.

This is book one in The Firefighters of Montana series and it features Laurel Keenan and Sam Gaskill. The attraction between these two was incredibly strong from the moment they met. I love these two! Laurel has no brain-to-mouth filter and Sam is the brooding, sexy Captain. They both have their reasons to keep it casual but things don't always work out that way. Laurel's son Tyson is a little cutie. I really liked that his father was involved and he wasn't a total failure as a part-time father. Fantastic story in an equally fantastic series. I can't wait to read the next book!

The thrill of danger helps him forget the pain of loss. Can the love of a good woman help him learn to live again? Sam is a man on a mission. Start over and leave the past behind. A new town and an adventurous job should be just what he needs to escape the helpless guilt and grief that has been his constant companion. What he doesn't count on is finding a second chance at love. Smolder is as intense as it's title, but the beauty of Ms. Solheim is she can deliver breathless romance while crafting a heart-stopping thrill.

First book in the Firefighters of Montana series where the reader is introduced to Sam, a smoke jumper and Laurel, a dreamer who returned to the family ranch. These two must find trust and love together in midst of their jobs and responsibility. Thoroughly enjoyed this story and characters. Ebook from netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.

Smolder by Tracy Solheim Firefighters of Montana #1 Smolder indeed! Great book! I enjoyed it from beginning to end and recommend it to those looking for a fun way to spend a few hours in Montana. After looking online I found that five authors have worked together to create this series of books that deal with sizzling hot men who work as smokejumpers but also as search and rescue patrol and live in a base camp on forest service land in Montana. Each of the potential men and women who will star in their own romance novels is introduced in this first book and I have to say I am intrigued by more than one of the characters and eager to read their stories if they are even half as good as this one! So, in this book…Captain Sam Gaskill has been hired to be in charge of the team of firefighters and has recently moved to town. He has brought his deceased wife’s horse to be stabled and trained at the Keenan ranch. He meets Laurel Keenan and her son Tyler almost immediately and there is a strong pull between the two of them. With both being rather impulsive it doesn’t take much time for them to heat up the sheets BUT with both also being leery of commitment there are some things for the two of them to work through if they are to have a HEA. Thank you to NetGalley and Tule Publishing for the ARC – This is my honest review. 4 Stars

Reviewed by Rosie Malezer for Readers' Favorite Smolder is the first book in the Firefighters of Montana series written by Tracy Solheim. While trying to come to terms with the sudden death of his wife, Sam Gaskill moves to Flathead Lake, Montana to head up the local Forest Service as captain and smokejumper. Sam takes with him his wife’s palomino horse, Tabitha, housing her with Wayne Keenan at the nearby Whispering Breeze Ranch. As the previous captain of the forest service, Russ Edwards, had died in the line of duty, Sam finds himself wrangling with hostilities from his crew as they don’t take kindly to outsiders. An even bigger challenge comes in the form of Wayne Keenan’s daughter, Laurel, who’d left the wrong kind of first impression on Sam when he had first boarded Tabitha at the ranch. Although Sam and Laurel had gotten off on the wrong foot, they find it hard to suppress the deep and mysterious attraction they feel for each other. As they slowly let each other through the walls they had built around themselves over the years, they not only empathize with each other’s past tragedies, but realize that those tragedies may be what is keeping them from ever possibly having a future together. Tracy Solheim’s story about two people from vastly different backgrounds, yet having an undeniable attraction to each other, has just the right amount of drama, action, love, lust, tragedy and suspense to create an epic romance which will leave you burning for more. Smolder is quite realistic in that each character has a depth which allowed me to connect and empathize with each and every one. The tight-knit community in the small town and the camaraderie amongst the firefighting crew was spot-on. Having had an upbringing where everyone knew everybody else’s business in such a small town, I became quite nostalgic in parts, even when the crew was cleaning up the forest, getting ready for fire season. The description of the terrain was remarkable and I was able to visualize myself walking in their shoes. I very much enjoyed Smolder and recommend it to all lovers of fine romance reading.

Sam Gaskill is a former Army Ranger who is starting over after loosing his wife. Laurel Keenan is a single mom to a young boy. The two meet as Sam is dropping his late wife's horse off at The Whispering Breeze Ranch for training. I really enjoyed this book. It held my interest from start to finish and was just a happy story. I'm really looking forward to continuing the series.
