A princess on the run, an ex-slave returning home. Together they must battle prejudice and superstition if their love is to survive.
When Princess Milenda arrives at Isvärld, a land of snow and ice, she’s hoping for a quiet life with her new husband, Jaali. What she gets is anything but.
Even though happy he’s returned, Jaali’s people can’t see past the color of Milenda’s skin, a color she shares with the hated Mabaya Warriors who have been stealing and selling their children into slavery for centuries.
Freya, a goddess of the icy kingdom, tasked with protecting the princess and her man, doesn’t seem trustworthy, and their only true ally is Milenda’s flying lizard, Mjusi. But even the mutsi is acting strangely.

Snow Jewel (Jewel Chronicles #2) by Natalina Reis was a unique, intriguing read that has m hooked. Not my first read by this author, so I knew I was in for a original, otherworldly read. I was not disappointed, though I didn't read the first book, there was enough info given in this wonder, were I got what was going on, and the situation as to why they were on the run. The info was given at the right time, and this actually read like a stand-a-lone. But I will be checking out the first book, because I want to see the start of Milenda and Jaali’s relationship. This was quite the read, and full of raw emotions and the power of a mob mentality. I can't lie I was wanting the gods to go apocalyptic nuclear on that town's people. I was getting angry, and the way they wanted to "fix" Jaali..I was seeing red. I felt for him and for Milenda when it appeared hopeless, but they did have some powerful deities looking out for them. Since this is a fast and quick read, and it being the second book, I'm not going to say anything about the plot. I will tell you that the writing was easy to follow, even with the random words that represents the languages that are present in that world. The flow match the plot and tone, the timeline did move fast, but it made the situation realistic, and not just a quick fix. Overall I very much enjoyed this book, and as I said I will be going back and reading the first. Please take my super high recommendation that this series is worth your time. It's something special, and in my opinion relevant. I can't wait to read the next instalment, cause I think it's going to be epic. Happy Reading -E.A. Walsh
I give Snow Jewel: Fantasy Romance (The Jewel Chronicles Book 2) by Natalina Reis, 5 stars. *This review may contain spoilers from book 1.* Princess Milenda and Jaali now are on their way to meet his people. They have to be welcomed, right? It has to be better than the way Jaali was treated by her people. Turns out, maybe not. All they see is her skin and what her people have done to them. Luckily, the gods are with them. Will they be able to escape this frozen place? Will they ever find peace? This series is so good. I always forget up just how good it is, until I start the next book. I literally could not put it down. I love the princess and Jaali. They are wonderful characters written so well. The gods are something too. But what really makes this book great is the story itself. It pull you in immediately and weave a story of love, adventure and imagination. The author is a wonderful storyteller and I hope she writes many more books. I highly recommend this book to those who like love stories that are not quite simple.
Snow Jewel: Fantasy Romance (The Jewel Chronicles Book 2) By Natalina Reis 5 Stars This is not my first book by this author, but it is the first I've read in this series, I'll start with I had no problem reading this although I could tell there was a lot I wanted to know about how Milenda and Jaali got to where they were at. There is a lot that happened in the first book I'm thinking and I will go back and read that to get the history especially now that I know there will be another book to follow because to me although this did not end in a cliff hanger, there is definitely more to come in the lives of Milenda and Jaali, so I will be keeping watch for this and having their beginning Im thinking will definitely help me for when I read what is to come. This was awesome!! I chose this book not because of the genre, because I don't normally read these types of books, I chose it because of the author. I have truly enjoyed everything I have read by Natalina Reis and this one was different. I'll be honest when I first started it I thought, there's no way I'll be able to read and enjoy this story, and that falls on the fact that again I don't read this genre. Well it was about 1 chapter in where I found myself not being able to put it down, and when I had to, it stayed on my mind and I could wait to jump back in. That is how well it was written, and the storyline was tough in some places, the subject matter was oh so real and it really makes you think about things that aren't fantasy at all, but real life. This was all handled brilliantly by this author and it proves how right I was to take a chance on this book. A couple of my favorite things about this story was first...Mjusi and then all the wyverns...I want a place to go where I can sit and visit them...I fell in love…. and the second of many things I fell in love with was….wimbo wa moyo...I love that and love saying it and thinking about it all through the book and how much love there was in this endearment, and then there was Freya, she fascinates me and Im definitely looking forward to more with her. I'm not going to say anymore, I loved everything about this story and I will absolutely recommend it highly. This author is a jewel and I will absolutely keep reading everything she comes up with. Amazingly Awesome!!
