New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Maisey Yates lives in rural Oregon with her three children and her husband, whose chiseled jaw and arresting features continue to make her swoon. She feels the epic trek she takes several times a day from her office to her coffee maker is a true example of her pioneer spirit. Close to Perfect by Jennifer Ryan This novella has everything I love in a good romance. Small-town, second chance romance during Christmas time and written by one of my favorite authors, Jennifer Ryan! I absolutely fell in love with Dex! He is kind and wonderful and I could see what drew Abby to him. There is love and forgiveness and lots of good happy feels! I loved everything about it and wished so hard that their story was a full novel! Hopefully we’ll see them in future books because I’d love to catch up with them and their daughter Kelly! There are a few bumps and bruises along the way, but I’ve never seen a more deserving couple of a happily ever after. It’s a beautiful story and you don’t want to miss it! Hot Winter’s Night by Lia Riley This is my first read by Lia Riley and I’m hooked! HOT WINTER’S NIGHT has funny dialog, easily relatable characters and an engaging story that will leave you completely satisfied! I love the second chance romance trope and watching these two strong, stubborn people try to come to terms with the past and fight for a well-deserved future was moving. Goldie has a smart mouth, sassy attitude and was horribly, painfully hurt by Kit’s sudden departure from her life all those years ago. She has no desire to give Kit the time of day. Kit was patient (mostly) and a little stubborn himself. But when I learned why he left, I understood. I did. But damn, can the girl at least get a phone call? The story is brilliantly written and so funny. And enchanting and now I need to check out the rest of the Brightwater series so I can find out about the rest of these wonderful characters! A great heartwarming holiday read! Snowed in at Copper Ridge by Maisey Yates This novella has quite a different tone than the first two novellas in the book. I had a bit of a hard time with this one. The hero Devlin is a tough guy who doesn’t share feelings and has been through throngs of women. Mia is an “innocent” young woman that’s been in love with Devlin since she was a teenager. She’s lived under the oppressive thumb of her parents and escaped many times to the Grayson house to spend time with her best friend, which happened to be Devlin’s sister. The pair couldn’t be more different. Which is okay because I love stories where opposites attract but their chemistry just didn’t work for me. Maybe if I read the previous books in the series, I could get a handle on the characters but I felt lost more than anything. I didn’t like Devlin at all and Mia, I didn’t care too much for her either. The story didn’t flow well and it was hard to keep my interest. I was disappointed that I couldn’t make a connection with any of the characters. I definitely feel that fans of the Copper Ridge series will enjoy this short and steamy read. It just wasn’t for me. 4 star review of Snowbound At Christmas By ((Montana Men #5.5) by Jennifer Ryan, Maisey Yates and Lia Riley What's not to love? It's the most magical time of the year and also happens to be my most favourite holiday. I love any story that is centred on Christmas; it’s a time for family and friends to get together. This anthology holds three stories, each written by a different author with a different theme, all cantered around the magic of Christmas. All three of these authors were new to me any I really enjoyed their stories. Close to Perfect: A Montana Men Novella by Jennifer Ryan This is a second chance at love story. Ripped apart by circumstances beyond their control Dex Manning and Abigail Swain have always wondered “what if”? Abigail went against her strict parents and helped Dex when he needed it the most, for that she was banished from her family and friends. Dex, determined that her sacrifice not be in vain was determined to make a name for himself and give back to the community. Fast forward ten years and Abigail is finally free to return home, bringing with her a surprise which will rock the foundation of Dex’s life. Finally re united, will they be able to build a future together or will the anger and pain of the past get in the way? Snowed in at Copper Ridge: A Copper Ridge Novella by Maisey Yates What’s not to love about a Cowboy? Mia Landry has been fixated on Devlin Grayson for a very long time, only problem is that he is her best friend’s older brother. When they are snowed in Mia seizes the opportunity to put her feelings for Dev out there, what’s she have to lose? I loved the vulnerability that Dev showed, although thought of as a player, he is in cares deeply for the innocent Mia but does not want to act on his feelings. Initially scared to pursue Dev, Mia soon finds herself out of her comfort zone and going after what she wants. Hot Winter’s Night: A Brightwater Novella by Lia Riley A second chance at love story which I really enjoyed. Kit Kane was the love of Goldie Flint’s life but circumstances separated them. When she is stuck in her flower shop due to heavy snow, it is Kit who comes to her rescue. This book was filled with humour and was well written. When Kit returns to town, Goldie is unhappy, after all he left her to join the military when she was going through a particularly difficult time in her life and she has never forgiven him. Goldie is a feisty character that I am sure I could and would be friends with, she refused to lay down for Kit and that was great. Kit and Goldie were meant to be and it was intriguing to watch these two finally come back together. I enjoyed all three of these stories and will be checking out other books written by the authors.
Didnt know Dex's story was before the Kendrick brothers' stories.
I do love Maisey Yates, so I immediately requested this on her name alone. I have a love hate relationship with novellas. It's never quite enough for me. I enjoyed the banter and chemistry of all of the stories in this collection. And I easily could have read full books from all of them. It was especially sweet to be back in the Brightwater world and see these couples again. Overall, a quick read with a balance of fluff and angsty times. **Huge thanks to Avon Books for providing the arc free of charge**
5 - "You kiss Santa with that mouth..?" Stars! Three Christmas novellas, by three different authors, all three extremely enjoyable reads. This compilation for me was the epitome of what I want from my Christmas reading; sweet, seasonal, emotive, with low drama, likeable characters and really easy to get along with writing. "Santa sent me a snowstorm." But what mainly drew me to it, was the fact that all three authors are ones I have heard a lot about but never actually read before, so it was a great way to dip my toe in with each one and see whether their writing styles agreed with my tastes, and I have to say all three authors are now ones I will be looking to read more from in the future. "We’re family. One hurts we all bleed." The offerings are as follows – Close to Perfect ~ Jennifer Ryan. Snowed in at Copper Ridge ~ Maisey Yates. How Winters Night ~ Lia Riley The other positive is that all three of these novellas are offered up, as installments in currently running series that the authors have published, and you can tell from the descriptions that they have been running for a while with the well developed locations and secondary characters included in each story, and the added depth their input gives to them. "You missed me too… I can feel it. Second chance and best friends older brother, are the main tropes used across the three stories, and I have to reiterate that each and every one of them was as enjoyable as its predecessor. I usually find with compilations like this that there is usually one story that doesn’t quite hit the spot, but not on this occasion, absolute reading bliss. "It’s you… It’s always been you." Whether you are looking for a little something to fit in for a few chapters here or there over the busy Christmas period, you are thinking about trying out some new authors, or you are literally just looking for some well written Christmas themed romances, then this selection really is a offering that would tick any or all of those requirements, and I will certainly look to read more from each of the authors involved in the future off of the strength of their inclusions to Snowbound at Christmas. Does a person ever get over the one that got away? Maisey Yates, Jennifer Ryan and Lia Riley, show the true meaning of love with their theme of second chances and sacrifices in Snowbound at Christmas. My favorite story by far was Close to Perfect by Jennifer Ryan. It embodies what the season is all about. Miracles, faith and forgiveness. Each contribution brings magic and hope to tempt readers this holiday or any time of year. Close to Perfect by Jennifer Ryan - Abigail and Dex had discovered something special. Until spite and lies tore them apart. Can a surprise homecoming and a ten year secret, give them the a chance at something new? Maisey Yates delivers the perfect winter fantasy. To be trapped in a snowstorm with the man of her dreams starts out awkward but ends of being just the gift Mia and Devlin need to set off sparks in Snowed in at Copper Ridge. Hot Winter's Night by Lia Riley blends mischief and matchmaking with a whole lot of snow to create a scenario that will heat up any winter night.
