Someone Special (Girls' Night Out Series #1) by Eva Moore

Someone Special

Dani Carmichael's life has turned upside-down in a matter of months. Sex is the very last thing on her mind. Processing her grief? Yes. Rallying her girlfriends? Definitely. Starting a new career? Sure. But finding a man is way down on the list. Until she meets her new neighbor, Army Vet Nick Gantry. His hidden wounds and his bare chest tempt Dani to risk her bruised heart.

Nick is looking for a place to hide away and heal, after his last tour in Iraq. The apartment building close to the VA seems perfect, until he discovers the girl next door he can't ignore. She deserves more than he can give her, but her sexy smiles and sinful cookies shake his 'just friends' resolution.

After their undeniable chemistry explodes, Nick beats a hasty retreat, afraid of hurting her. Dani is left angry and alone, picking up the pieces. He'll have to battle his demons to convince her that she is truly someone special. She must decide if she can trust the man who broke her heart.

About the Author

As a young woman, Eva Moore loved nothing more than to dive between the pages of a romance and lose herself in the story. They were perfect for avoiding midterms and report cards. She even met her husband while reading a book. About the time the second baby came along though, she found she had little time for diving into anything but laundry. Missing her stories desperately, she began to make up her own. The stories she played with in her mind while she washed dishes and changed diapers eventually made their way onto the page, and she was hooked. Eva now lives in Silicon Valley, after moving around the world and back, with her college sweetheart, her three gorgeous girls, and two Shih Tzus who think they are cats. She can be found most nights hiding in her closet/office, scribbling away, and loves to hear from the outside world. Please visit her at

Two people dealing with lost, starting over and overcoming issues the author gives a story that really touches me and is dear to my heart. PTSD is very real, touching so many lives not just our military. I thought the author gave a touching sweet read that really pulls the reader in but it is so much more than a romance it is a story based on friendship which will last way longer than lust does. It is written with true emotion with a great plot and a very believable story line. A part these are two lost souls but together they balance each other, giving the other what they need most. Neither is looking for love, neither want it, love as a way of finding you when you would rather go hide far way from anyone and everything. I really loved these two characters as well as the supporting ones. Nick is one of those characters you really just want to grab up, give a shoulder and a quite place for him lean and learn to relax. I wanted so bad to take away all that he has had to deal with and give him peace of mind. This is a story about learning to trust and love, giving of one’s self but still be able to stand on your own two feet. It is a story of overcoming, growing, learning it is OK to need and want as well as love and have fun, finding that someone that makes you feel complete. It is a very touching and emotional read that grabbed me and sucked me in. I read this at one setting and didn’t want it to in. I haven’t read anything by this author but sure do look forward to reading more of her work. Very well written leaving you with a feeling of peace, love and harmony.

Someone Special by Eva Moore Series: Girl’s Night Out 1 4 Stars - I have had this book in my tbr pile for a while, because well, the wounded hero plot is not one of my favourites. I am glad I finally picked it up. The writing is good. I liked the banter and chemistry between Nick and Dani. And while I was not not a huge fan of Nick’s destructive behaviour, I understand why it was in there. I loved the messaging that went on in the book (always a favourite for me) and in the end, I really quite.enjoyed this story. The door scene.. loved it! *sigh*. I will gladly read this author again and plan to pick up the next book in the series. ~Paragraphs and Petticoats~
