South Lyon

When settlers were moving west from Detroit into the unknowns of Michigan, they went six days to the northwest and came upon what would become Lyon Township. It is unknown who settled first in the southwest corner of the township, but when William Thompson, his mother, and his brothers acquired land, along with three corners of an Indian Trail, the area became known as Thompson's Corners.
