Jacob and his comrades are within the Iron Head Nebula, a natural border between sectors where danger surrounds them as they do their best to assist stranded ships, fight the Order, and make connections with those who dwell in the gargantuan dust cloud.

Meanwhile, Alice and many young Officer Candidates are challenged by the rigorous training provided by the new Triton Fleet Academy. Her mind, body and preconceptions will all be tested as she makes her attempt to complete the first curriculum so she can become a leader in the growing fleet. The fight awaits Alice and her fellow students but they have to prove themselves before they are allowed to join the battle.

Everyone will be pushed to their limits as they confront some of the most incredible challenges and mysteries of their lives.

Love the series. The mix of dynamic characters and epic space battles has been awesome but this book changes focus a little too much for me. It's more personal conflicts and internal struggles. I wish it would have advanced the books big picture a little more with a little less of the daily drama that humans have in abundance. But still, the writing is engaging and the humor is natural. Randolph has created personal attachment between the reader and it's characters and that continues in this book. If you kill off Frost or Ronin you will definitely be getting hate mail from me. Cheers!

I have been a mega fan of the series from the start. I still am but...... This book felt a little bland. Dont get me wrong great writing still a good story. But i miss all the great action and fights that made the other books ssssooooo great. Min chus humor and chinese proverbs were gone and Jake Valent doesnt feel like the main charetor any more. I wish the dont take crap kill em all jake was back or at least something in the middle. All in all a good book. Still a mega fan I.T. in CT.
