Overview

A handbook of survival and warfare for the citizens of Woodstock Nation

A classic of counterculture literature and one of the most influential—and controversial—documents of the twentieth century, Steal This Book is as valuable today as the day it was published. It has been in print continuously for more than four decades, and it has educated and inspired countless thousands of young activists.

Conceived as an instruction manual for radical social change, Steal This Book is divided into three sections—Survive! Fight! and Liberate! Ever wonder how to start a guerilla radio station? Or maybe you want to brush up on your shoplifting techniques. Perhaps you're just looking for the best free entertainment in New York City. (The Frick Collection—"Great when you're stoned.")

Packed with information, advice, and Abbie's unique outlaw wisdom ("Avoid all needle drugs—the only dope worth shooting is Richard Nixon."), Steal This Book is a timeless reminder that, no matter what the struggle, freedom is always worth fighting for.

"All Power to the Imagination was his credo. Abbie was the best."—Studs Terkel

About the Author

Abbie Hoffman (1936-1989) was an American political and social activist, anarchist, and revolutionary who co-founded the Youth International Party ("Yippies"). He was arrested and tried for his role in protests that led to violent confrontations with police during the 1968 Democratic National Convention. Hoffman continued his activism into the 1970s, and remains an icon of the anti-war movement and the counterculture era.

Abbie Hoffman is still the most amazing person ever. Anyone interested in anything dealing with anarchy, hacking, revolutionizing, anything, will love this and read this as a bible. Awesome.

This book is basically a guide with instructions and topics on how to live and fight the system. Coming from Abbie himself, it's packed with knowledge, experience, and character. Needless to say, it is the best damn book I ever stole. However, this book has a very exclusive audience, so I would not recommend it to any who is not an anarchist, revolutionary, or radical. Also, it includes a large amount if numbers, addresses, and references, but they are all ourdated, seeing as how this book is 40+ years old. Don't buy this book. Steal it, if that wasn't obvious enough.

Who do you think you are? Oh wait, I know, YOU are the lazy undeserving pig who is exploiting the poor to make a profit. If only we lived in a country where people like you didn't even exist. One day you will be living in a world where we" lazy, undeserving poor people" will be running the country, and you rich exploiting pigs will be the homeless, jobless, undeserving pieces of trash that you started out as when you were concieved. The poor people someday will bring you to justice, and a disgusted population will drag you alive through the dirt in the streets. LONG LIVE THE RESISTANCE!

This book was every bit the crap I thought it would be. Just another America loathing liberal hypocrite who wants to take from the deserving rich and give to the lazy, undeserving poor. Nothing in the book that espouses picking yourself up by the bootstraps and make something of yourself. No, it's filled with advice on how to "screw" the man, without ever stopping to consider that we the people ARE the man. If you follow his advice, you'll be screwing yourself. What a wasted life he led.
