I stumbled upon the first book in this series a few years ago at the library, and immediately checked out the second and then the third book. Then I decided I needed to own the series, and have been collecting the stories as they come available . Now I await impatiently for the next installment of this wonderful town.

It wass great to see how my book family was doing. I love to grow up and older with characters and I definitely hit pay dirt with this series. I was crazy about Sky O'Malley (author Bertrice Samall) and her life adventures now I have Henry Adams filling the space. Thank you Mrs. Bev!

An enriching and engaging story wonderfully written by the best selling author, Beverly Jenkins. I received an ARC from a Goodreads Giveaway. Genevieve Gibbs had been married to a no good, selfish man, Riley, for forty years, who loved his hog, Cletus, more than her. After having finally ended her marriage to Riley, Genevieve decided not to be a doormat anymore and to be 'large and in charge' (26). TC Barbour comes to town to help out his nephew and two girls. TC gets a job as a chauffeur and meets Genevieve and wants to get to know her better. Reverend Paula Grant has to go home for the funeral of her grandfather. Her Aunt Della won't tell her when the funeral is and tells her not to come. After the funeral, Paula finds out shocking and disturbing news. More riveting characters to read and a must read story.

Outstanding read.

The only issue I have with this book is the length. It was to short and the story with the Pastor' cousin should have been more developed, it was skimmed over. Other than that it works with the series. Can't wait for the next book.

And I thought ...This was a good book. I enjoyed the story line. I loved the small town feel of the story. I have to admit I did get bogged down with all the characters. There were so many. This is a book that takes the reader into the lives of almost the entire town. At any other time I probably would have gotten more into the story and read it straight through but it did take me a while to get into it. It did turn into a wonderful feel good story. I warn the reader to plan a couple of days or more because you won't want to put it down. I received a complimentary ARC copy from TLC Book Tours. A complete list of other reviews on the tour follows. My review is posted on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Good Reads. I will be linking this post at blog tours including: The Art of Homemaking,Grace At Home Party, Create with Joy, Share Your Cup

Another great read in the Blessings series by the incomparable Beverly Jenkins! This is the 7th book of the series, and I consider it a blessing to have read and thoroughly enjoyed them all. The series revolves around the current citizens of the fictional small town of Henry Adams, KS which is based on real historically black townships in Kansas that were established by free slaves fleeing the degradation and lynchings taking place in the post-Civil War southern states of America. The series follows Bernadine Brown, a multi-millionaire, thanks to her hefty divorce settlement from her cheating ex-husband who spreads her blessings by buying the almost defunct Henry Adams off of ebay and with the input of its current citizens, breathing life back into the town and offering hope of a new life to some select foster care children. This is the 7th installment in this ongoing humorous and heartwarming saga, and it focuses on longtime resident Genevieve Gibbs' new found friendship with newcomer Mr. T. C. Barbour. I loved this story so much, that when I reached the end, I went back to the beginning page and read the book again!

The title "Stepping to a New Day" apply describes the story line of the book. It is how the characters embrace or reject the changes in their lives. We are back in the town of Henry Adams catching up with some of our favorite characters from the past and some that we did not like. We wonder why they are back in the mix. This is a great story about why some people will stagnate and some will rise to the occasion put before them. It was a book with a message but you were not beaten over the head with it, you just needed to choose to listen. The only draw back is that I do not know if you will enjoy the book as much as I if you have not read all the books in the series. I really think you will have a good time if you will join us in the town of Henry Adams where a lot of people care about their neighbors.
