4 1/2 STARS! Fast paced, lots of intrigue and sexy, sexy, sexy! I really enjoyed the first book in Tara Wyatt's new Blue HEAT series! The characters were well-developed and easy to like and storyline hooked me from the start. Looking forward to more in the series! Detective Sawyer Matthews is on a mission ... a mission to catch the scum-bag who killed his partner. He's what you'd call "married to the job" and doesn't have a problem with that, but he can't deny when the new detective he's going to be partnered with walks in the room, he's thinking of a lot more than work! Brooke Simmons has just gotten the promotion of a lifetime to become a member of Atlanta's High-Risk Evaluation & Action Team (H.E.A.T.), so her life couldn't be working out better ... until she walks in and finds out her new partner is the man she had a smoking hot one-night stand with! Working with him on a daily basis, and as he's undercover as a male stripper none-the-less, is going to be temptation personified!

Tara Wyatt's writing style is great. The story and characters are all so engaging, and I found myself totally sucked in. I would totally want to hang out at The Speakeasy with Sawyer, Brooke, Jack and Amelia - and recently, wanting to be friends with the main characters has sort of become my litmus test for a great romance novel, haha. Sawyer is dealing with the death of his partner, Ryan, and certainly doesn't want a new partner - especially the bombshell he had a one-night stand with! Especially since there's a department policy against fraternization with one's partner... The sparks sure fly in this one! There's an almost enemies to lovers vibe as they both try to resist their attraction, but a bit of a friends to lover vibe as well, and ahhh, I can't even. Why do I even try to write reviews? Just go read it. This one's a keeper, OK? The best characters are fully-fleshed out, with wonderful qualities, failings, quirks... Wyatt really delivers on that with Sawyer and Brooke, and even with their partners Jack and Amelia (who are side characters, but I assume are the leads in the next two books in the series). We don't get much of Sawyer's brothers either, but from what we do get I'd really like to read their books as well, please. (Are you listening, Ms. Wyatt?) In addition to an excellent romantic storyline and heaps of sexual tension (and really meltingly hot sex scenes, don't forget those!) there is also the cop/detective aspect of this book. Sawyer goes undercover as a male stripper to infiltrate a drug ring that possibly involves the biker gang and/or cartel that murdered his partner, so there's that who detective/spy element to the story as well. I don't normally go much for mystery in my romance, but I DO enjoy action, and this really delivered in a way I enjoyed as being a detective/mystery/action type of deal while still mainly and unrepentantly being a romance. This is the first book in the series, and you bet your ass I pre-ordered book #2, Schooled. This can be read as a stand-alone, though there are little teaser bits of minor-ish plotline left hanging... Enough to make it so I just HAVE TO KNOW!!

I've never been to a strip club--never wanted to go to one (true confessions time, here--just watching Magic Mike made me cringe in mortification, and I'm pretty sure I fell asleep at one point. I know, I know--I'll be over in the corner, hanging my head in shame) but the premise of this story--a brand-new detective finding out her new partner is her one night stand, and her first major assignment involves her having to watch him pose undercover as a male stripper--made it one I couldn't resist. And I'm so very glad I didn't! Even though my inner rules-follower shook her head in dismay every time Sawyer and Brooke proved that rules were made to be broken by giving in to the attraction between them while working together (really, how did they not get busted sooner?) I absolutely loved the two of them together. They practically lit up the pages of my ereader every time they were together, and even as I worried that they'd both get their butts fired I was cheering them on every step of the way. And reading about the stripping scenes was definitely not a hardship. I didn't feel sleepy at all. ;) Ms. Wyatt also gave us two more HEAT team members to look forward to in future books, love-'em-and-leave-'em playboy detective Jack Ward and still-grieving Amelia Perez. Plus, we're sure to see more of Sawyer and Brooke in their books, so...win-win! Tara Wyatt is a new-to-me author, but I'll absolutely be reading more from her in the future. I absolutely cannot wait to see Jack go undercover at a preschool, LOL :) Rating: 4 stars / A I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

3.75 stars--STRIPPED is the first instalment in Tara Wyatt’s contemporary, adult Blue HEAT erotic, romance series focusing on the men and women who work for HEAT (High-Risk Evaluation and Action Team) of Atlanta, Georgia. This is Detectives Sawyer Matthews, and Brooke Simmons’ story line. Told from dual third person perspectives (Brooke and Sawyer) STRIPPED is a forbidden romance story line focusing on the building relationship between APD’S undercover police detectives Sawyer Matthews, and Brooke Simmons. Brooke is the HEAT rookie, having risen to the position due to the murder of Sawyer’s last partner and best friend Ryan Walker-a murder Sawyer, and his fellow undercover operatives are having a difficult time to overcome. Sawyer doesn’t want a new partner but things go from bad to worse when Sawyer discovers his new partner is a one-night stand from days before. Setting plans into motion to take down the Baracoa Cartel and the men responsible for destroying so many lives, Brooke and Sawyer must go undercover at a local strip bar with connections to the drug cartel, wherein Sawyer becomes the nightly entertainment as they struggle to uncover and take down the people behind the murder, and the influx of a new designer drug hitting the streets. What ensues is the building but forbidden romance between Sawyer and Brooke, and the potential fall-out as their undercover operation begins to implode. Brooke Simmons, as the newest member of Atlanta’s HEAT, knows she has to prove her worth but the battle is only beginning when Sawyer Matthews begins a personal campaign against the woman with whom he will fall in love. Sawyer doesn’t do relationships, and getting involved with his partner and fellow detective is a sure fire way to get kicked off the job. Unable to concentrate on the task at hand, Sawyer begins to make life a living h*ll for his new partner. The relationship between Brooke and Sawyer is one of immediate attraction that begins as a one-night stand wherein neither one was willing to go beyond the here and now. Sawyer’s attraction to Brooke is palpable but his less than mature behaviour post hook-up, and his actions scream childish and adolescent; the sexual chemistry is off the charts. The sex scenes are erotic, intense and provocative. We are introduced to Sawyer’s fellow detectives Jack Ward and Amelia Perez, as well as their captain DeMarcus Hill, and Brooke’s best friend, homicide detective Dani Harris, and Brooke’s grandmother Nan. The requisite evil has many faces. Jack and Rachel’s story line is next in SCHOOLED. The world building focuses on the take down and on-going investigation of the Baracoa Cartel, justice and revenge, and the battle between the heart and the job when lives are threatened in the line of duty. STRIPPED is a sexy and flirty, character driven story line about forbidden love. The premise is engaging and edgy; the characters are energetic; the romance is sensual and intense.

Detective Sawyer Matthews is a man on a mission, he recently lost his partner and long time best friend and he intends to find the man who killed him and get justice for his team member. He is completely beside himself right now, the last thing he wants to do right now is be saddled with a new partner... that is until he meets her! Brooke Simmons is beyond excited about the opportunity to be joining the H.E.A.T undercover detective squad, it has been a dream of hers for quite some time and she is busted her butt to earn the job. But when she shows up for her first day and finds out her new partner has already played her partner in a little different way she is left a little unsettled and not so sure how to handle the fact that her one night stand is now going to be working alongside her everyday. If you like uber steamy romance with a touch of thrilling mystery, than this is the perfect read for you!! Stripped is a well blended romance that is sure to have readers singing it's praises, the characters were superbly crafted, the story line was engrossing, and the secondary characters will leave you excited for the upcoming installments! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one, if was fun to see a heroine take charge and be able to stand toe to toe with her alpha male counterpart on the job and off. Brooke surprised me more than a few times with her strength and tenacity, and had me in her corner the whole way through... and maybe even a little envious too! This was an impressive and highly enjoyable start to the Blue Heat series; it's certain to curl your toes, warm your heart, and leave you smiling!! Highly recommend!! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.

I really enjoyed this first book in a new series, by a new-to-me author! I am always here for hot cops! And this time both the hero AND heroine are hot cops! Detective Sawyer Matthews is having a difficult time. He's an elite undercover cop in Atlanta's special HEAT unit, and he's just lost his partner and best friend, Ryan, who was murdered by the cartel drug lord they were investigating. Now, he just needs proof to take the bad guys down for good. While in the depths of his grief, drinking at a hotel bar, he runs into a woman who he decides can help him forget all his woes, at least for one night. Little does he know he'll be seeing her again after all, and in a totally surprising place. Newly minted detective Brooke Simmons has finally landed her dream job with the HEAT unit. But she is shocked to find that her new partner is her recent one night stand. Now they have to work together, and nothing else can happen between them, or else their jobs are both at risk. Brooke has had a horrible history with dating, and all the men she meets are either liars, cheaters, d-bags, or completely insane. Or all of the above. She was so happy after her one perfect night with Sawyer, but now it could ruin her chance at the career she's always wanted. Brooke lost her parents when she was very young, and she was raised by her grandparents. She's always been afraid to let anyone into her life, because she knows all too well she can't depend on them to stay for good. Could Sawyer actually be different? Brooke and Sawyer had fantastic chemistry, and I loved watching them fight their attraction, knowing that eventually they would be giving in, and it would be glorious. And it WAS. They both made mistakes, many times, but I appreciated the ways they owned up to them, and apologized for them, like grown ups. It was so refreshing. I really loved their banter, as well as their interactions with the other 2 members of their team. I felt so bad for their team member Amelia, who was in a relationship with Ryan before he died. She was breaking my heart throughout the story, and I'm curious to see throughout the series if she'll be able to find love again. Their other team member, Jack, was quite the ladies man, and I'm very interested in seeing him take a fall. I also enjoyed Brooke's relationship with her best friend and fellow cop, Dani. They seemed to have a great friendship, and Dani always told Brooke the truth, even when it wasn't easy. I'd be interested in knowing more about her as well! Brooke had a lot of repressed issues she had clearly never dealt with, and Sawyer didn't help with some of the antics he pulled during the story. It was hard for them to trust each other as partners, at first, and I loved watching them feel each other out and learn to read each other's signals. Their partnership grew stronger, and so did their bond in general. Adding the undercover op in the male strip club was genius, as it basically forced Brooke's hand in realizing she wanted to be with him. I really enjoyed watching them dance around each other. I liked the suspense aspects of the story as well, and it made everything else that much more exciting. I definitely recommend this to any hot cop/romantic suspense lovers out there. I'll be searching for more from this author, and I'll be looking forward to more in this series.
