Wrongly imprisoned whistle-blower Rachel Pierce would rather take her chances with her court appeal than accept her place as the first Interstellar Bride destined for the Colony. She's stubborn and determined to seek justice--and her freedom--on Earth...but her mates are not willing to risk her life or her future on a system they believe to be both primitive and corrupt.

Maxim of Prillon Prime fought ten long years in the Hive wars. Captured and tortured with his second, Ryston, they escaped only to be rejected by their own people and condemned to life on the Colony with the other "contaminated" cyborg warriors. As leader of Sector 3, it's Maxim's duty to set an example for his warriors and summon a bride. When she refuses transport, he can't allow her rejection to demoralize an entire planet of battle hardened but jaded warriors. Maxim and Ryston transport to Earth where they decide she's theirs and a maximum security human prison will not keep them apart.

Getting Rachel to the Colony is only the first challenge they will face. Convincing their beautiful mate to surrender to not one, but two dominant warriors is another. Even if they can win her love, a new evil is rising on the Colony and someone close to Maxim will be its first victim. Maxim will be its second, unless Rachel's love and relentless pursuit of the truth proves strong enough to save him.

I will say that I truly enjoyed this story. However once again there was NOT enough of the story. What is life like on the colony? With the parents moving to the colony how do they move past the rejection, pain, and anger? I feel there should be a few chapters about how these women embrace their new homes, and roles in them. How the relationships grow. I know these are short stories, but there is still a little more story to tell. Things I as a reader want to know.

This first book in her Cyborg series is as good as her Interstellar Bride series. Love her world building and how everything links together. Really good quality erotic sci-fi.

I totally love this series. Warriors from a coalition of planets that are fighting an alien race (the Hive) that wants to take control of everything (like the Borg from Star Trek and the Replicators from Stargate SG-1) and hoping to find their mates. This book is about the veterans of that war that are banished from their home planets due to their being "contaminated" by Hive technology. Maxim and Ryston are perfect foils for each other. Maxim is the quiet, authoritative, and super in control Governor and Ryston is the stereotypical hot-shot fighter pilot. Rachel has a strong moral center and is fighting to stop the people that set her up form hurting any more people. The author once again reminds us of the crazy S-Gen technology that the Prillon use (I am not sure if I think it is way cool or totally screwed up). I believe this is one of the better stories of the series (they are all very good but everyone has their favorites and mine are the Atlans). The Colony and its inhabitants have gotten a fantastic launch story and I can't wait to see the journey the author takes our favorite veterans on.

This book is the first in a new spinoff series from Grace Goodwin's Interstellar Bride series. We have been introduced to the Colony in several previous books and it's great that this world is getting its own storylines. The Prillon Prime is a planet that has joined in the fight against The Hive (evil group trying to turn everyone into machines with one mind). When warriors are captured by the hive they are tortured and have cyborg parts implanted. The lucky ones who escape are rejected by their people as having become "contaminated". Instead of being decorated heroes the Prillion government banishes the "contaminated" warriors to an off planet Colony to live out their lives. This reminded me of the rejection and neglect many of our war veterans get when they return from serving their countries injured physically &/or mentally, so in many ways this book also makes an important statement about tolerance and priorities. Maxim and his second, Ryston, an ace fighter pilot, escaped from The Hive are now living on The Colony. Maxim is the leader of Sector 3 on the Colony and Ryston his strong backup. On Prillion they mate in pairs as the war claims so many that there is always a second to protect the female. Now that the leader of the Prillion people has been lucky enough to get mated with a human woman from the Interstellar Brides program, despite having been tainted by The Hive himself, the warriors on the Colony have been given a chance for a match as well. When Maxim and Ryston find out they have been matched they are beyond thrilled, yet they know much depends on the success of this mating. If all goes well the can be more matches for the males on the Colony. Back on Earth, Rachel, a biochemist for a crooked pharmaceutical company tries to warn everyone their new miracle cure is actually a killer. Instead of being a heroine Rachel is set up and the company has put all the blame on her. She finds herself imprisoned with very little chance of getting justice. With a strong sense of right and wrong the determined Rachel insists on going to court and giving testimony against the company. Rachel is given a second chance by being given the choice to give up her earth citizenship and entering the Interstellar Bride program. There is a positive match and she finds herself about to be mated to two warriors on the Colony. Rachel is a great heroine, no whining here, she is stubborn, witty and strong and will challenge her mates and others when needed. I like her Biochemichal medical background I think that makes her an important addition to this new world she has to find her place in. As in Grace Goodwin's other books there is an exciting story that goes along with the very steamy scenes the author is known for. I also like the message of acceptance, honor and equality this storyline addresses. A great start to this spinoff series, I can't wait for book 2, and to see how The Colony evolves.

This new series is a spin off of Grace Goodwin's Interstellar Bride Program Books. You don't have to read them first to enjoy this one. Love the fact that the bride is smart and totally not really wanting to leave Earth but isn't really given a choice because she is involved in a whistle blowing case that now has a hit on her life if she presents evidence. I also love the fact that she is not perfect and her grooms yes, grooms are far from it as well. Soldiers in the war have left them less that what they were and she would be the first bride for their banished planet. I always have loved mail order bride series, and they always make me wonder how and why you could marry someone you didn't know. How do you start a marriage with a stranger and make it work......I am not a huge sci-fi fan but Grace Goodwin's books make me a fan! I can't wait to read more in this series. I was given this ARC for a free and honest review.
