Otto Gunnersen, a quiet police officer in the small town of Monroe, is struck speechless by the appearance of a mysterious young woman, Sarah, another “friend” sent to hide in Monroe by the slightly shady Mr. Espina. Sarah is actually Alice, the sister of a notorious criminal; she’s escaping an arranged marriage that would cement an alliance between two major crime syndicates. Trust doesn’t come easily for her until she meets Otto, her knight in shining boots. His tenderness and love for animals quickly melts her resistance, and the affection of his friends and family seals the deal. However, as expected, danger isn’t far behind Sarah. She wants to protect her new friends, including Otto, but they refuse to let her fight alone.
