BBeing book number two in the Djinn series I was concerned as I did not read the first book “Chosen”. I was pleasantly surprised as I could pick up the story line easily and get involved into the fast pacing adventure and life of Jessica Monroe. Jessica being one of the chosen ones after the Djinn, an alien race, destroyed the majority of humans on earth in this book she has to choose between her loyalty to the human survivors and her love for Jace, Jasreel, her Djinn lover and mate. Jace has been taken into captivity by Captain Margolis, the leader of the human survivors. Captain Margolis and the scientist Dr Odekirk are doing tests on the Djinn captives to see how humans can destroy the Djinn race. This entertaining book by Christine Pope keeps you glued to the pages to see what is going to happen not only with Jessica and Jace but also with the humans and the two opposing sections of the Djinn. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series. Rinette Kaschula, South Afric

This is the 2nd book in the Djinn Wars series. I'm a new reader of Christine's work and I am impressed!!!! This book takes up pretty much where the first book ended. Jessica has been left alone after Jace has been taken. A fellow Chosen is directed to her and together they leave in search of Jace and Natila, their beloveds.  I loved how we see how the remaining humans are coping after the Dying and that just because they are human does  not make them humane!! Evil lurks in many forms and guises and there are lots of characters we meet during their time in  the human encampment that I would love to get my hands on and inflict some justice of my own!!! Definitely the sign of a good book. There is fear, sadness, loss of friends and lovers and the despair of being left behind. All around this was a fabulous book  and I greatly enjoyed reading it. Well driven story and characters that are well developed and complex. An absolutely fab read!!
