This novel is a wonderful love story with the loves of two men and one women. Julian Cardwell and David Tavistock are raised as brothers and they both love the same woman, Rebecca. Rebecca has loved Julian and married him believing he was the love of her life. In her memory she has held a fondness and a hatred for David. Both David and Julian go off to war and Julian is believed to be killed. David suffers injuries at the same time. David and Rebecca marry after two years of mourning Julian. David has always loved Rebecca his entire life and had begged her to marry him. She finds she is quite content and begins to have a fondness for David in spite of herself. Julian and Rebecca had lost two children due to miscarriages. David and Rebecca succeed in having a son by having complete bed rest from her fifth month of pregnancy. They welcome a healthy son, Charles. Julian had sowed his wild oats before and during his marriage to Rebecca. He has, however, loved her more than any other woman possible. David teaches Rebecca about the wonders of love and sex. Rebecca had been brought up to be a submissive wife in bed just to satisfy her husband. She has never had such a love with Julian and craves to be back in David's arms. The deceits and loves become tangled until a dramatic ending to this story. A well written plot that keeps you interested to the end. Cherry Blossom
