About the Author

Michael Ouellette spent a large part of his life traveling throughout North America, eventually traveling half way around the world to marry his lifetime love in the Philippines. Independent at an early age, jobs took him to places he came to love. He had worked many safety hours in isolated mining regions of Canada eagerly feeding crews with his cooking skills which he learned while in the military, combined with his Level II first aid skills to help save workers’ lives. A prospector’s license earned him a few shares in the mining industry. Catering to the public was like second nature to him. In between bush runs, he operated and owned a few taxis or driving the para-bus for seniors and the handicapped. He also worked for the Corp of Commissionaires stationed at the Joint Task Force North (JTFN) Headquarters in Yellowknife. Traumatic brain injury might have briefly thrown him off-course, but he remains a force that will not be held down. The stories in this book portrays his zest for life. Furthermore, he hopes this book sheds light on how safety of workers especially in isolated mine sites be a critical onus of employers that should not be taken lightly.
