DAN BUETTNER is the founder of Blue Zones, an organization that helps Americans live longer, healthier lives. His groundbreaking work on longevity led to his 2005 National Geographic cover story "Secrets of Living Longer" and a second, "The Search for Happiness," in 2017. I had been following the Blue Zone eating for a few years. Following this author and 2 reporters on this concept of why people are living longer in certain areas. I don't think the recipes are the whole answer. This book gives stories of people of the area, the possible other reasons they are living longer. I will be trying the recipes this week. The book is recipes are easy to follow accompanied with fantastic pictures. The ingredients don't seem too extreme and most should be readily available. A win in my recipe bookcase.

Yes, there is a very strong odor. I was thinking because it was just printed and I received it right off the press. This was on backorder for a while and when it came in it had a distinctive odor. There are a lot of pictures on almost every page (again causing the odor I am sure) and the recipes are worth trying if indeed this is what keeps you alive for 100 years. There is no other diet in the world that works as well as this. Worth a shot. I am sure smell will be gone soon.

I received the much awaited for "The Blue Zones Kitchen: 100 Recipes to Live to 100" by Dan Buettner on New Years eve and planned to enjoy reading it and deciding which recipes I was going to cook first. But there was such a strong odor that I could not keep the book in the house. I had to put in in another building which houses my canning supplies, freezer, etc. It has been airing out since January 1 and now the building smells like the book. Has anyone else received a book that sp smells strong of chemicals that they cannot enjoy the book. This is a first for me. I know I will give the cookbook a 5 star rating if I could just look at it.
