I can't get enough of this author! I love every story I've read by her and this is no different

The Charmer by Avery Flynn is the second book in her Harbor City series. A flirty, fun, sexy, romantic story told in dual POV between Hudson Carlyle and Felicia Hartigan. Can be read as a standalone but better read in series order. Each book continues with another couples story along a progressing timeline. Hudson is the younger brother of Sawyer Carlyle from the first book, The Negotiator, and an all-around charmer (hence the title of this book). At a fundraising event he fixates on a nerdy, tiny ant researcher, Felicia, and ends up agreeing to help her begin dating his brothers best friend, Tyler. What he doesn't plan on is the crazy chemistry they have together. Felicia has a plan - a list - things to accomplish before she is thirty (in a month) and the last thing unchecked on this list is dating Tyler. The problem is, he doesn't see her as anything other than a little sister. When Hudson charms his way into her life with a plan for her to nab Tyler and a small request for her to help him she is hard pressed to say no. Any attraction she feels to Hudson, while he is helping her with her Tyler issue is just transference, right? sizzlingly sexy, laugh out loud funny, with just enough emotion and angst to keep it very interesting I thoroughly enjoyed this read! Up next, The Schemer!

What a great series. Had a hard time choosing between Sawyer and Hudson as my favorite hunk but Hudson wins. Can't wait for the next story

Outrageously sexy, fun, sweet, emotional and quirky romantic journey that includes one sexy billionaire hiding a secret life and a sweet, spunky, nerdy ant researcher. Hudson Carlyle the charmer of his family has been living a double life for sometime now and is in danger of outing his secret all due to one sweetly sexy, spunky ant researcher he can't stop thinking about in inappropriate ways. Felicia Hartigan is sweet, spunky and so clueless when it comes to men it is adorable. The My Fair Lady references are great (one of my all time favorites) their banter and they way their relationship builds is brilliant. Could not get enough of her brothers and sisters either... loved them and hope to read more about them soon.

I loved this sexy romantic comedy, book 2 in the Harbor City series, from Avery Flynn. Hudson Carlyle, sexy, rich womaniser with no intention of settling down anytime soon, is instantly drawn to nerdy ant researcher Felicia Hartigan when he sees her at a museum fundraiser. She's everything he's never wanted in a woman, droll and plain. It turns out though that there's so much more under Felicia’s nerdy exterior, something that Hudson sees straight away. Felicia knows exactly what kind of man Hudson is and she's not afraid of putting him in his place. This only makes her more attractive to Hudson. They're both hiding the truth from those they love. Hudson however is a willing accomplice in helping Felicia win the heart of the one she's loved since she was 15 years old. Felicia too, agrees to help Hudson as an accomplice in his greatest secret. When they agree to help each other they both get more than they bargained for, namely super hot page sizzling chemistry. Unfortunately neither one can see what is right in front of them. Both too stubborn to see the writing in the wall. A fun, enjoyable, easy read that can be read as a standalone, I must say though I’m going to be reading book 1 in the series (The Negotiator). I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A charming story by Avery Flynn, The Chamer, book two in her Harbor City series is the perfect title for this wonderful and funny book, but you might be surprised as to who is the real charmer. What begins as someone helping another attain goals set fifteen years prior turns into a charming tale of secrets, family, humor and a steamy attraction between two people. Carefree billionaire, Hudson Carlyle has had no trouble charming his way through life. He agrees to help ant researcher Felicia Hartigan check off that last goal on her before thirty check list, get asked out by her dream guy. He decides to play Henry Higgins to Felicia’s Eliza, My Fair Lady in modern times. This story contains a lot of flirting, a number of laughs, a few secrets on Hudson’s part, and a few unexpected twists and turns. I really enjoyed reading this book. Ms. Flynn is an excellent storyteller, keeping me interested in this story so that I had trouble putting it down. I definitely recommend this outstanding book to other readers. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

such an intelligent woman, Felicity is kind of a dope! Who has sex with a guy to get “lessons” in how to catch another guy...supposedly her life long crush!? This is the problem I had with this story. I was excited that the nerdy character was our heroine...my favorite nerdy stories have been exclusively the hot and nerdy hero. And while most nerdy characters, male and female, are clueless in some way, I just couldn’t warm up to Felicity. And while this may be a double standard...because Hudson is teaching these “lessons”, I liked him!! But he also was not professing love for one but getting busy with another. I expected him to do everything he could to get Felicity in the sack, to prove that she didn’t really want the other guy, Tyler...and Hudson didn’t disappoint. His secret really didn’t need to be kept for quite so long. And this playboy facade, that no one seems to see through, wears thin (in most books that use this plot twist, not just this book). Together, though, I did enjoy them. I liked their snarky repartee, I like how they do actually bring out the best in each other, and don’t let the other get away with hiding themselves. And of the two books so far in the Harbor City series, this one is my favorite and most memorable, warts and all. So while a 3.5 may seem like a low rating, it’s not. Because even with the flaws, for me, it was still a great book. I received an ARC from Netgalley and the publisher for an honest review

I loved this book! Hudson... have mercy. Another book I did not put down. It's just that good. When the story starts to take the first few twists and turns, I couldn't help myself, just had to keep reading. Hudson is the charming of the two brothers, and frankly he is just that. Looking at him and workaholic, driven Sawyer just give me Hudson. He wants no part of the family business, shows up at events only when beckoned by his mother Helene. Here we see him invited to the museum for an exhibition when a young woman wearing what he describes as a sack catches his eye, and his desire to paint her kicks in. Hudson has a secret life. He's a highly successful artist whose paintings are prized. He hides it from his family, after being chastised in college by his father who pressed him into business or else. After the fall out from book one, Sawyer and Tyler still aren't talking to each other because they're both jackhats and Helene sets about an idea that Hudson needs to fix this. Because Hudson is a fixer. During the evening he meets Felicia. Felicia is his object d'art and desire. Felicia has a PhD in I'll be brief here, insects, namely a specific species of ant. Felicia is form across the river in Waterbury, comes from a loud, large Irish family and is no bigger than a minute. They called her pocket sized. When Tyler's family moved into the neighborhood she finally met someone she could talk to, but he was her older brothers best friend and Tyler got a scholarship to the prep school back across the river. The town that the Carlyle's basically built. Felicia has had a major crush on Tyler forever (although it totally eludes me why). Hudson doesn't get it either, but makes a deal with Felicia that she'll help him get the two guys back on speaking terms meanwhile he'll coach her on dating and in return she agrees to let him paint her. Hudson jumps in with both feet to his newly assigned duty with her and I loved it. I loved them both. Hudson was so slick without being slimy- he was -yes, charming. His nickname for her was Matches and Matches was a little slow out of the gate, but she caught up. Started getting confused about her feelings and had to remind herself that Tyler was the end goal. There were a couple of things Tyler did in this book that peeved me about his friendship with Matches and I didn't like it or him for doing it. Selfish, he is. So Avery, fantastic storyteller that she is weaves us a story that really entwines Hudson and Matches, let me not forget her one eyed cat who is one step away from feral, but of course loves Hudson. Meanwhile he takes her to his grandfathers cabin, which is his secret working place and she sees all these sketches of her. She then realizes who her favorite painter is as well and is sworn to secrecy. Hudson has a big showing coming up at Everly's gallery. When the bottom drops out of things, Felicia is wounded and holes up in her tiny apartment. Hudson is a train wreck and someone has to intervene. Yes it comes too. Small army because Hudson needs that. Yes, I'm obviously being sketchy, you're lucky you got this much... this is a must read book. I love Avery's books but this tops my list. It's got everything wrapped up into a nice tidy package, ok not tidy, the one eyed cat thing... but it is perfect. I loved this book and for me tops book one. Avery you have outdone yourself with this one. It's a must read and a keeper. **arc from NetGalley and Entangled in exchange for a fair review**

This is another winner by Avery Flynn. This book is one you can't put down, but hate to see end. I loved Hudson. I want one for myself! He did have a jerk moment that made me want to throttle him, but he completely redeemed himself to me. Hudson and Felicia had a ton of chemistry. I just loved those two together. I liked Felicia's nerdy side. I thought her personality combined with hunky Hudson was so intriguing. There is more then meets the eye when it comes to Hudson. As a cat lover and cat mom I was a fan of Honeypot. Definitely has a personality of a cat. Over all the book delivered on everything I look for humor, heat, and heart. I can't say enough how much you should give this one a read you won't be disappointed.

The Charmer (A Hot Romantic Comedy) (Harbor City) by Avery FlynHudson Carlyle and Felicia Hartigan's story. Fun Wow! Anothe. The author delivered an entertaining, funny, and hot read! Felicia is nerdy and brilliant. She loves planning and being organized. Hudson appears to be the rich pampered boy. There is more to Hudson than he lets everyone see. Hudson and Felicia are opposites but they are perfect for one another but will they take a chance on love? I really loved the characters. Hudson is such a "charmer". I enjoyed Hudson and Felicia's story. This was a fantastic book. This is book number two in the Harbor City series. This book can be read as a standalone. But if you haven't read book number one, The Negotiator, you will want to. It was really great too. FYI, contains mature and graphic content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

4.5 Stars for this modern twist to My Fair Lady! I was totally captivated by this sweet and sexy modern twist to My Fair Lady! This second book in the Harbor City series did not disappoint. It was funny, clever and very hot and steamy! We met mysterious, sexy, playboy, Hudson Carlyle in the first book and now he is back, allowing us to see he is all that, but also so much more. When he first meets nerdy ant researcher, Felicia Hartigan, he sees so much more in her than her glasses and frumpy clothes. When his mother sees her as well, she hatches a plan and enlists Hudson's help to carry it out. Hudson finds that she has a long time crush on his brother's friend, Tyler. So Hudson decides to help her catch his eye. But the more time they spend together, the more the lines become blurred. I loved how stubborn Felicity was and how she would never back down from a challenge. Hudson knew how to bring out her soft, sexy side, which helped to crack thru his walls as well. They were so perfect together and their chemistry was explosive. I loved the texts they sent each other, building a fun foundation for their relationship. Hudson's Mom was a great character as well, being able to manipulate her sons stealthily and with ease. This is the perfect blend of humor, charm, emotion and steam. It captured my heart and had me totally engaged from start to finish. I definitely recommend this must read romance!

Charmingly wonderful I absolutely loved the second book in Avery Flynn’s Harbor City series. Hudson is the brother of Sawyer from the first book in the series, he is hiding who he is from his family, plus helps his mother trying to get Sawyer back with his best friend Tyler. Felicia is an Ant specialist and believes she is in love with Tyler who she has known for years. So Hudson agrees to teach her how to have Tyler notice her, Hudson has a ulterior motive and that is he wants to paint her and get her out of his system, but can he. This was a great rom com and and another hit by Avery Flynn she did not disappoint.

This RomCom is a light-hearted, amusing read. The story is well-written and the flow is good, and I did get a few chuckles along the way. The problem, for me, is the heroine in this romance. Supposedly determined to land the elusive Tyler, Felicia's actions are quite contrary to that. I get that she is a bit obsessive about her lists and completing them, but falling into bed with Hudson, over and over, and getting right back on task with catching Tyler before the sheets have even cooled, is not what I would expect from an accomplished woman. I did enjoy Hudson's chase and failure to capture his love interest, as well as his run-in with her crazy feline, and the steam between this pair was fan yourself hot, but Felicia just left me with a sour feeling. The author is talented and the writing style is quite good, so I will continue to read her books. This one just missed the mark for me.

I have been waiting for Hudson's story in The Charmer. I was happy to see that we also get to revisit our old friends from The Negotiator. The Harbor City series by Avery Flynn has me hooked!!! I am enamored by Hudson's charm. He knows he has it to. He has that cocky and confident attitude. He can make you light up with his smile and make you get tingly everywhere. Except Felicia. Well. I am sure she was swooning too, just in a little bit of denial. These two had my head spinning. The Hot and Cold attitude has your gut churning. The Charmer is a great follow up to the first book. I am really enjoying this series

When you see Hudson Carlyle you see a rich, sexy, confident man who leaves women weak in the knees, and dying for a moment of his attention. But what you don't see is a man that is deathly afraid of letting his true self show, he is certain if anyone knew the truth about him his reputation would be completely ruined. Then a breath of fresh air crashes into his carefully constructed world, and turns it upside down...problem is she has no idea that she has any effect on him, and is completely immune to his panty melting charm! Felicia Hartigan isn't exactly bombshell material, her style is more so classified as nerdy, but for some reason unbeknownst to her she seems to have captured the attention of one the most gorgeous men in the city. It's really quite baffling, why would a man like Hudson want to spend time with her, they come from different worlds, and have little in common. But then he makes her an offer... he'll teach her how to win the affections of the man she has a crush on, if she helps him out with a little issue of his own. The deal seems easy enough, but shortly after things get underway, their little arrangement takes an interesting turn when Hudson's little plan starts to work a little better than intended and she winds up having feelings for him too... The Charmer is delightful read full of humor, heart, and passion that is sure to score a special spot in the heart of every reader!! After meeting Hudson's brother, Sawyer, in the Negotiator I was very anxious to spend a little time with Hudson, and get to know another one of the Carlyle men, and I have to say I was thrilled with what I found!! His story was quite the literary treat, the moment him and his heroine got to together the sparks started to fly, and things got nice and steamy, and very entertaining!! I really enjoyed this one, it was a lot of fun to read, these two had me smiling and laughing throughout!! Highly recommend you give this one a try, it's an attention grabbing read that is sure to leave you smiling! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this read.

Hudson is what his family call the Charmer , but he is really a world know painter ( his family doesn't know ) Felicia loves Ants oh and she studies them :D SHE thinks she wants Tyler but he doesn't see her that way ( they've been friends they whole lives pretty much ) Hudson wants HER ( well to paint her and well maybe get her out of his system ) He says he will help her get Tyler's attention ( even tho he doesn't want Tyler to see her that way ) In exchange she helps him fix the rift between Sawyer ( Hudsons brother ) and Tyler.....come along on this sometimes HOT ride with lots of "Lessons " as these two learn their way to being true to themselves you will be glad you did

A great, fun read!! Hudson is a billionaire that oozes charm but when he meets a woman who isn't interested in his charm, he sets out to convince her otherwise. Felicia is a woman focused on researching her honeypot ants, getting her research in a highly respected science magazine and getting the man she's been in love with since she was 15. She also has a personal deadline to achieve all this before her 30th birthday, which is right around the corner. These two are total opposites and the dialog between them was exciting & fun with quite a few steamy scenes the will make you swoon! The swooning was my favorite part!!

The Charmer is the second book in Avery Flynn’s Harbor City series and like the first book in the series, this one is another winner! Hudson & Felicia were so much fun to read about! When Hudson first sees Felicia while attending a fundraiser at the Harbor City Museum of Natural History’s Ant Lab, he can’t take his eyes off her. She isn’t anything like the women Hudson usually goes for, but there’s just something about her that he is drawn to. Felicia is a scientist/ant researcher at the museum. She’s had a long-time crush on her brother’s friend Tyler since she was 15 years old. On her to-do list before she turns thirty is to get the nerve up and finally make her move. Unfortunately, that isn’t going too well. Enter Hudson and his offer to help her get her man. He’s got other reasons for doing this and if all goes his way, she won’t be thinking about Tyler when all is said and done. I loved the chemistry between these two. Talk about sparks flying in the bedroom (and out if it). These hot, sexy times between may have started out as “lessons”, but quickly turn into more. But as real feelings come into play, things take a turn. Will they be able to see that what they really want is right in front of them and take the leap or will hurt feelings, pride and stubbornness get in the way of their happiness? Avery Flynn always brings the sexiness, fun, and great HEA’s in her books. This one is another to add to the list! **I received an ARC from the publisher through NetGalley for an honest review**

The Charmer is book two in the series, Harbor City, by Avery Flynn. This is my very first book by Avery. Not having read the first book in this series did not take away from my enjoyment of this one at all. But I will warn you that if you haven’t read it, you will want to after you get caught up in how fantastic this book is, just as I did. Hudson Carlyle is part of Harbor City’s elite. His family’s Carlyle Enterprises built this city. Hudson lost his father several years ago so now his brother, Sawyer, runs the business. Hudson has a corner office he visits once a quarter. Hudson’s best weapon is his legendary charm. So while he will leave running the numbers up to his brother, he helps to charm the clients. Hudson is also well known for using his charm with the ladies. It is a well deserved reputation. So no one is more confused than he is when he first spotted Felicia Hartigan in that way too big, awful dress, at the fund raiser, and he could not take his eyes off of her. Felicia is a scientist, her life’s work is studying the honey pot ants. It’s what she lives for. That, and secretly loving the man she has known literally all her life, Tyler Jacobson. Tyler grew up next door to her family and sees her as a little sister. Whenever she is around him, she gets all tongue tied and nervous. She would give anything to get Tyler to notice her as a woman. “He’d help get her the thing she wanted most, and he’d hope that at the end, she’d want someone else - him, at least for the moment.” Tyler and Hudson’s brother have been best friends for years but have had a falling out. Hudson’s mother wants them to mend fences and enlists the aid of Hudson. So, Hudson decides that he can help Tyler and his brother get back to their bromance, and at the same time, help Felicia get Tyler to notice her the way she wants. But it is obvious to him that Tyler is the complete wrong man for her. So he is hoping that in getting Felicia the one thing she thinks she wants more than anything, he can win the girl for himself. So begins operation “My Fair Lady.” Hudson is schooling Felicia in how to win the man of her dreams, or so she thinks. As things progressed, though, he had to wonder just who was the one really getting schooled. “It felt too good. He felt too good, like they were meant to be like this and that the flirting and lessons and everything else had just been a way for the universe to get them here.” Hudson has a huge secret, one he has kept hidden from everyone else for years. The more Felicia wraps herself around his heart, the harder it is to keep his secret from her. Does he dare share it with her, take the biggest risk of his life and open up and let her see who he really is, what he really is? “He made sure everyone around him was happy. He was a fixer. He just couldn’t fix himself.” This book was amazing. My love for both Hudson and Felicia was pretty much immediate. Hudson was indeed a charmer. It worked on me! And little five foot tall Felicia. At times I could feel her insecurity, but at other times, this little snippet of a woman was more like six feet tall inside. As I said above, this was my first book by this author and I was pretty surprised that it was freaking hot as heck. This is a good thing by the way. Avery Flynn can most definitely steam up the pages in the best of ways and let me tell you, Hudson and Felicia had my e-reader smoking.

Story is good but is so much GRAPHIC sex necessary? I'm guessing this author's children won't be reading her books for a very long time! And without the sex scenes this would be a short story.
