The Shield, The Guardian, and the Conduit a Mighty Threesome When you have an expert story teller weaving a tale of young adults just starting to understand life, and mystical forces enter the picture, a reader has the opportunity to sit spell bound on the edge of their seat as all of the emotions and action flows from the page into their mind’s eye.  The Conduit is a thrilling, roller coaster of paranormal intrigue, action packed adventure, comedy and tear- jerker all in one. It is a book that I sat and kept saying to myself… I’ve got to fix supper, oh, one more chapter. Three chapters later, I’d repeat the process again. A master of cliff hangers, Stacy Rourke has developed a wonderful world for her characters to grow in the hearts of her readers. Even the demons have endearing qualities that would tempt the strongest of souls. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the Conduit and immediately purchased the next in the series. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

I enjoyed reading The Conduit and how could you not throw in an eccentric grandmother 3 siblings who love each other very much but also are normal siblings until Celeste advertently sets their lives on another course. Do not forget about the cute guy who comes to the rescue Alec. There was parts I laughed so hard with the banter between the siblings and there is also some action. After I finished the conduit it went straight to the next book Embrace.

The Conduit, by Stacey Rourke, is extremely entertaining and well written. I found myself laughing out loud, trying to keep quiet so I didn’t wake up my husband and newborn. The main character, Celeste, is very witty and has a great sarcastic humor that I totally fell in love with. Her siblings are very strong characters as well, and the banter between them is definitely chuckle-worthy. Plus, let’s not forget Grams. The eccentric grandmother was an awesome touch to the quirky family. A basic overview, without divulging too much, is that Celeste and her family find out they are going to be used to fight the forces of evil because of an ancient family oath. The Gryphon uses Celeste as the conduit to work through her and gift her amazing powers as she progresses through her journey. This story is a great and inventive spin to the usual ‘super hero’ story. I love that the author used different powers and elements for her characters. It was a refreshing back story (one that left me craving more details that I am desperately hoping to get)! The ending was a perfect mix of triumph and loss. Without spoiling the book for those that haven’t read it, and without giving away too much information, the heartache that Celeste suffers at the end and the decision she makes towards the guy she is starting to fall for, shows not only her human flaws, but brings a depth to her character that I found very touching. She isn’t perfect by any means, and even though the fate of the world falls in her lap, she makes mistakes that are sure to have some negative recourse. It thickens the plot and makes me hungry for more! The Conduit is an AMAZING start to what is sure to be a fantastic series!

Have you ever wanted to be a superhero, well Celeste just wanted to be a normal college kid but things so didn’t go as planned.  Imagine three siblings who emerge into powers beyond their wildest dreams.    In her first in the Gryphon series, The Conduit, Stacey Rourke has succeeded in reaching for the stars.  Celeste being the oldest sibling must protect her family at all costs.  She must call on a higher power, an ancient magical creature to help save her family.  This is her destiny and one she will gladly accept to fight the enemy.  The author’s witty and humorous one liners will keep you entertained till the end.  The plot is well thought out and will leave you wanting more.  A must read for fans of anything mythical.

The Conduit by Stacey Rourke - A Gryphon Series Novel I was given this book for an honest review. Oh my word!!  I honestly think that I would have read this book in one sitting if I had not had an eight month old at home!  This action packed book has an easy-to-follow plot and left me longing to read the next page, chapter, and book as quickly as possible.  I even allowed my OCD-ness to overlook the grammatical/typing errors because I was enthralled with the plot of this young adult novel. The Conduit is an adventurous tale of an unlikely sibling trio that is dripping with humor and sarcasm.  Celeste, Gabe, and Kendell are assembled, transformed, and trained to fight the Dark Army.  Facing three-hundred year old, evil forces is a daunting task; but the Garrett siblings learn that teamwork is an invaluable weapon in their fight.  Self discovery, close relationships, and forces unseen are revealed along the journey to an epic battle of good and evil. I look forward to reading the continuation of the Garrett siblings’ adventures in the rest of the Gryphon series.  I am thankful I don’t have to wait for book two to come out!

I liked this book. I enjoyed how different it was. But it was a little flat. It was enough to make me want to read the second one in the series, so maybe they will get better? We'll see.

It's been a minute since I've read something that literally made me laugh out loud! Stacey's writing style is very easy to follow. I absolutely adore this book! The fact that this author stepped outside of the box, making Gryphons COOL!! Gram, is by far my favorite character. She is witty, crazy and super-lovable. The cliff-hanger was well written, and will have you hanging on every last word! If you haven't read this book, you're missing out on a total jem!

I really liked this book and i can not wait to read Embrace.. and Stacey promised me i would love it! and shes not biased at all so i totally take her word for it.. I really liked Celeste shes like a fictional version of myself.. heres just some info on the both of us and you draw your own conclusions.. 1. Celeste is a female.. wow i too am a female! 2. She has bad ass powers.. i do not.. UNLESS you take into account the speed in which i can make a tub of cool whip disappear and you know i think that counts.. 3. She has siblings.. so do i.. 4. She wants to be an art teacher when she grows up.. I like art! 5.She is a smart ass.. okay thats where we differ completely.. Anyways i super enjoyed this novel :D

Finally! A book about a strong girl who isn't a vampire or a witch! Celeste shows how a young girl can overcome adversity while trying to protect her family. Highly suggested for anyone who might have enjoyed Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Celeste and her siblings get shoved from Michigan to Tennessee, to stay with their spunky grandmother. There have simply been too many break-ins around their home in Michigan, so their mother thinks they will be safer down there. She has no idea how wrong she actually is. All Celeste wants to do is get ready for college in the fall. Her brother, Gabe, is a college dropout. Her younger sister, Kendall, is preoccupied with Keith across the street. Alec is the cute cameraman who accidentally enters Celeste's life and peaks her interest. One day while out in the woods, Celeste runs into an old woman who presents as a large, exotic bird. She tells Celeste that they have been looking for her and her siblings for quite some time. Celeste passes out, only to be rescued by Alec. As she recovers, she finds a note explaining to her the power of the empathe. She begins to notice changes in her ability to read the feelings of others. Gabe starts to swell up like the Hulk. Kendall is literally floating on air in love. The transformation into superheroes is just beginning for these three, who have a centuries' old battle getting ready to reignite. Celeste and her family are amusing characters. The siblings have a strong bond that unites them in their fight against evil. They can encourage each other while also harassing each other to no end, just as you would expect siblings to do. Their quirky grandmother allows for a lot of other comic relief. Early on in the book, I had a weird feeling about Alec. Something is missing from his story, which will likely develop in the second book. I felt like the characters grew into their powers almost overnight, not really having a lot of time to prepare, nor a lot of instruction before they were thrust into battle. They had a quick rundown of their ancestor's history with the Gryphon, but a lot of questions have been left unanswered. Their battles have only just begun, though, and more should be revealed as the series continues. The Conduit is a fast read, with short chapters. I read it in just a couple of hours while sitting outside this summer. It ends somewhat abruptly with a cliffhanger that isn't completely surprising, yet enough to whet your appetite for the next part. It's a fun story, with lots of promise for future installments. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. It also appears on Andi's Young Adult Books.

A fun, fast, fantasy read! I finished this book in less than 24 hours because I could not put it down without finding out what happened next (this made for a late night of reading). From the relatable characters, to the otherworldly creatures, Rourke nails the YA Fantasy market! Overall 4/5 stars; I'm looking forward to the next book in the series!

My friend Leann Luckett turned me on to this author so based on her recommendation I decided to start reading the series and following the author. Let me start by saying that while the first book didn’t sell me on the series, I still moved on to the 2nd book (Embrace) in the series and was very happy I did. My chief complaint with The Conduit is that I found it to be a bit slow while laying the ground work for the series. Once I got past that I have to say the action was quite good and kept me interested in moving onto Embrace. I loved the family banter, the closeness shared by the siblings, and who wouldn't love Grams. The woman rocks! The reader gets inside Celeste's head and it like having a conversation with your best girlfriend. Celeste is a witty and strong female lead character. Her younger sister, Kendal, is your typical teenage girl. She is all about the fashion and the boys. Celeste’s older brother, Gabe, is cool and aloof with a lot of personal issues to work through in regards to the death of their father. Grams is simply the Granny ever kid wants. She is active, flirty and way over the top. By far my favorite character in the book. Without giving away too much of the story line, Celeste is the Conduit and her siblings are her Guardian and Protector. Together they fight demons and try to save the world from the Dark Army while trying to make a new start in a small Tennessee town. I would recommend this book as a must read if you are going to follow the series. It’s worth the time and once the action begins it is fast paced and a definite page turner. You will want to read it and immediately start Embrace (Book 2) like I did. I am looking forward to Sacrifice coming out next week too.

Ever since I was in upper elementary I have been a big mystery/horror reader. I read Stephen King's IT when I was in 4th grade. However, as of late I have been getting more and more into YA. Especially Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Paranormal YA. Therefore, when I was given the opportunity to read The Gryphon Series recently I was beyond stoked. I belong to the Anchor Group Street Team and had helped promote The Gryphon series, even though I had never read any of the books. I couldn't put The Conduit down. I was instantly drawn in by the prologue, which I don't think has really ever happened before. From start to finish The Conduit is full of action and keeps you on the edge of your seat, wanting more. I can actually visualize The Gryphon series becoming a movie! However, as always I can only help that they wouldn't slaughter it! The Garrett siblings - Gabe, Celeste & Kendall - have just moved from Michigan to live with their Grandma in Tennessee after a string of break ins in their neighborhood. Their Mother has stayed behind until their house sells. Shortly after arriving in Tennessee strange things begin to happen. It's not long before Celeste discovers that she has is The Chosen One, The Conduit, Gabe is Protector & Kendall the Guardian. The trio must stop the Dark Army before it is too late, but can they?

I LOVE THIS BOOK,I don't know why I took so long to read this book The Conduit is a very action packed book and involves three siblings that have a love for each other like siblings should, Gabe, Celest and Kendall are great characters and I truly believe that Stacey has written a great book and I can't wait to read the other books. I usually have a problem starting a new book but this was not one hard to begin reading I love all the characters from Celeste to the Grandmother and the Gryphon. Thanks Stacey for a great book.

This was quite a nice read. It had different paranormal angles and kept me intrigued. I actually liked that there was no direct heritage link when it came to the siblings inheriting their powers (The Gran or mom didn't know about it - it dates back a few centuries). What was happening was all new for all of them. Characters: 3/5 Stacey creates great likable characters. There is room for development and depth, but it is good work for the first book. They have the potential to be something even more special and spectacular later on. The sibling bond between then is great! I could picture the banter and teasing easily, and laughed out loud a few times. I loved the humor between them. I enjoyed the story line with all three of them being important, and they balanced each other out perfectly. Plot, Pace, Writing style 3/5 Stacey has a great  writing style. The flow of the story is quick and easy. At some points I think the pace is a little bit too quick - it would have been nice to slow it down and expand at some parts. Stacey really brings a great sense of humor throughout the book. Her witty quotes had me giggling in so many parts. The chapters are nice and easy reading lengths. The ending was amazing! Wow - I really cannot wait to see what happens in the next book.  Cover talk: 5/5  I love it. The green eyes contrast to her red hair. The wings are beautiful. The symbols are magical. It is just awesome. Final Thoughts: I am so glad I started this series and cannot wait to continue it.
