Overview

Maurice Harper gets the feeling that something outside of him is directing his life. In a series of mysterious events that confirm Maury's darkest fears, he decides to act on his desire to abandon the forsaken town he used to call home. Before he can, though, he goes for one final run with his friend, Patrick, down an old dirt road that holds spiritual significance for him.

In the forest on a hill, Maury gets lost, but this is no ordinary forest, and he is no ordinary kind of lost. While trying desperately to keep his grip on reality in the depths of the dark forest, Maury betrays his best friend and meets a mysterious girl with whom he immediately falls in love.

Finally, Maury breaks free from the maze and gets back to what he thinks is reality. He gets a seemingly normal job and starts his life with his new found love, but all is not as it seems. While struggling to make sense of what has happened and clinging desperately to sanity, Maury discovers truth after ugly truth that leave him questioning what his own existence is all about.

Was this reality? Had he truly broken free and conquered his fears or was this all part of the continuum? Who, really, was that strange girl he had fallen in love with?
