My biggest reading regret is that I did not pick this book up sooner. Alexandre takes us to a time in France that was in turmoil. He quickly introduces us to Edmond Dantes and his lovely Mercedes. The plot quickly follows and grabs the readers imagination & attention. I found it hard to set my Nook down. I can honestly say that I have never read a book twice, but this will be the first (and you always remember your first! ;) ) I will read this book to my children one day. My next step is to listen to it on audio book so I can get the character names and location pronunciations correct. I want to say that this book is for everyone. Some might not be able to actually read the book due to the style/century it was written, but I believe audio book is the answer. Pick it up and get started.

I regret having not read this sooner. It is a "can't put down" type of book. My only complaint about this version is, it did not have the detailed table of contents it described in the product overview.

this book is wonderful! The book was easy to open, and although the spacing is set quite apart than usual books and/or nookbooks, it is wonderfully accurate in description.

This is an abridged version, but I really didn't care. Extraneous details can bore me if I don't know what I'm getting into. The plot of this book has to be one of the best of any classic I've read. The crazy thing is that Dumas heard an anecdote and got the idea for the name while he was escorting Louis Napoleon around Italy. The first 1/3 of the book is kind of like pushing a boulder up a hill. The last 2/3 everything rolls fast. The characters are all very well constructed, albeit some really don't seem as sinister as the main character believes them to be.

Possibly one of the greatest books ever written, some may find it dense while others will appreciate the depth and description that make this book so vivid. At 99 cents this is incredible value. No issues with the formatting

A truly exceptional example of story telling. Some of the fine points of the story must have been rather racey when the epic story was penned. Also, some of the resolutions to the plot points don't necessarily suit the sensibilities of modern audiences, but I certainly enjoyed this book.

This has to be value for money.  maybe I'm a bit picky,  but to change 1815 to 1810 on the very first line, and 'glass' for 'mirror' chapter 7's opening paragraph!!!   Could have been a 5 Star!!!

Edmond Dantes has everything that he needs a loving father, a beautiful girlfriend and a new job as captain of his ship. During his engagement party, all is ripped away from him and he is thrown into prison not knowing why he is there. After fourteen years in prison he finally escapes to exact his long and tortuous revenge on his enemies. Great read and lovely ending.
