Overview

The Cowboy's Rebellious Bride by Laurie LeClair

Best friends for life. That was their pact.

Feisty, spitfire Hannah Prescott yearns to get the bulls she raises to the top rodeo circuit finals. Being a woman in a male-dominated career means she fights harder for what she wants, and romance plays no part in her goals. But when everything's on the line and her best friend asks her to play pretend, what's a girl to do?

Sexy, life of the party cowboy Cody McCall is determined to save the legacy of his family’s ranch and give his beloved, widowed grandfather something to live for again. Options are limited until he hits on the perfect plan–pretending to marry the girl who’s been his confidante and friend all these years. After stealing sweet kisses with Hannah, Cody starts to dream of something more permanent...if he can only convince Hannah to agree that the move from friendship to marriage is worth the fight. He wants a forever bride, but there's only one cowgirl he desires.

Laurie LeClair has been a favorite of mine from the time I fell into her Once Upon a Romance Series. Her stories are sweeter than any greeting card, smoother than silk and as addictive as a chocolate cake. The Cowboy's Rebellious Bride highlights the best of Ms. Leclair. She simplifies what humanity tends to complicate. To understand what love is, we have to first find it within ourselves. That message shines brightly with every character she writes. Her tales open up the heart and that is what I love most about them.

The Cowboy's Rebellious Bride (The McCall Brothers Book 1) by Laurie Le Clair This is Hannah Prescott and Cody McCall's story. Hannah and Cody have been best friends for years. They each have their own issues that they are working through. Due to a situation they end up in a fake engagement. Now, you will have to read it to find out. During their fake engagement they start crossing the friendship line. Will their fake engagement change from fake to real? If you enjoy a sweet romance, then you will enjoy their story. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

The Cowboy’s Rebellious Bride by Laurie LeClaire, the first book in her McCall Brothers series is a sweet story about love, friendship, family and trust. We have two best friends suddenly finding themselves in a fake engagement. These two are not only best friends but also the life of the party and the couple all of their friends wanted to be. Neither is sure that this is what they want or that it is the solution to the problems in their lives. There are so many people that could be hurt if they don’t go through with the marriage, but could Hannah come to terms with marrying Cody. Ms. LeClaire did a nice job handling Hannah’s fear of falling in love and getting married after witnessing the disaster of her parent’s marriage. She swore she would never marry as those memories could never be erased. Cody had so much more on his plate. There was getting his Gramps to want to live after losing Grams. Then there was the saving of the McCall ranch after being mortgaged to pay for Grams’ medical bills. Cody also needed to keep reassuring Hannah that she wasn’t her mom, that she was much, much stronger. I enjoyed reading this book and had trouble putting this book down, reading it in one day. I do recommend this book to other readers. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

A fun romance between best friends, Cody and Hannah. With a fake engagement to prevent Hannah getting in trouble with her landlords for breaking curfew, but now they are afraid of ruining the good friendship that they have had since childhood. Cody is trying to help his grandpa with saving the ranch and Hannah raises bulls to get to the top rodeo. This was a fun, entertaining laugh out loud romance. A very light read. Cody is such a great character, so patient with Hannah, with her reluctance of marriage. Miss Peaches and Miss Clementine were a hoot. This is the first book in the McCall Brother series. My first book by Laurie LeClair, and thoroughly enjoyed. I high;y recommend this book. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

OK Read. Friends to Lovers is one of my favourite tropes and I thought the story premise was good. However it didn’t flow for me, I found the writing style rather choppy and uneven and the heroine’s mindset at the end of the book illogical. This is the second book I have read by this author and I don’t think I will be trying any more.

Cowboy Cody McCall has decided it’s time to settle down and now he’s set his eyes on his best friend, Hannah Prescott. This story was ok. I didn’t really buy how, after knowing Hannah for years, all of a sudden he decides she’s the one for him. I’m not sure I’ll read this author again. **I voluntarily read and reviewed this book

3.5 Stars This is book one in the McCall Brothers series and it features Cody McCall and Hannah Prescott. This is a sweet romance. Not much angst but full of fun. Too much fun. For the most part everything was extremely upbeat with lots of silly jokes and nicknames. Sometimes the language or the way things were said was hard to follow. For all that had happened and was currently happening I felt there should have been a little more of a serious vibe in the story line. I love Cody and Hannah but again, too much joking around and not enough seriousness. All the characters were fantastic.
