The Duke’s Mistress
The young widow Lady Dorothea Fitzroy is bored with her life. Most especially so with her role as mistress of her brother’s household, and the endless round of society engagements this forces her to endure.
What Thea so badly needs is a secret and passionate lover, to become mistress of another kind entirely, and so add excitement and spice into her humdrum life. But where is she to find this handsome and inexhaustible gentleman?
Julian Remington, the arrogant and haughty 17th Duke of Blackmoor has no interest in finding a mistress for his bedroom or his home. He’s jaded, cynical, and distrustful when it comes to women. One woman, a woman from his past, has caused too much grief in his life for him to ever trust another.
Thea and Julian are about to be caught up in a passion for each other that blazes so fiercely, and so out of control, it is beyond the power of either of them to resist.
The Duke’s Mistress is the story of an arrogant duke and an adventurous young widow, caught up in their insatiable desire for each other, the vengeful woman who would like nothing better than to see Blackmoor suffer as she has suffered, and believes Thea Fitzroy to be the means by which she will achieve it.
Author’s Note: The stories in the Regency Unlaced series are steaming hot and the language sometimes explicit.

The story catches you from the first paragraph. Revenge, passion, hot sex, and a twist . Looking forward to the other books in the series.

This book was good at times. I liked the characters..my problem with this book, it felt rushed..this book had so much potential! The storyline was good. It had great potential for a erotic or steamy book... but once again the love scene's were way to fast and passionless. Yes! There was f. Words and dirty talk but it just fell flat. The writing style was good..but if only she added more pages to get in more details, more depth, more passion!! Would have been a great read. And what's up with no epilogue??? Those are the best part..we get a glimpse of there life in the future..not just leaving me hanging, like this ending, to make my own story!

A quick read that kept my interest throughout the entire book. The characters were interesting and the scenes were sensuous. The added suspenseful element gave the story depth. A good, fun read!

A quick read. Hot scenes without too much repetitive & uncomfortable description. Liked the main couple. Wrapped up quickly but it's short so not unexpected. Actually would have liked a quick epilogue showing a naughty hea.

It is borderline BDSM . He commands her to do or not do things. He spanks her. I haven't read that in romance books.

The characters were wonderful. The story was well paced. My only complaint is I was sorry it was over.

Young Lady Dorothea is helping to plan her nephew's wedding to Amelia, Julian Remington, the Duke of Blackmoor's daughter. But lately she has been feeling restless and bored with life in her brother's home. Much to her surprise, she finds herself attracted to the cynical, jaded and arrogant Duke. Even more surprising, her desire is returned. Their passion blazes out of control, but a vengeful woman from his past has decided to use Thea to tear Blackmoor's world apart. This introduction to Mortimer's Regency Unlaced series is high on heat, but low on novelty. The plot of this novella is fairly predictable, but the author does deliver erotically charged scenes that burn up the page. The writing style is fluid and easy, and Mortimer does an excellent job of establishing a bond between the main characters given the limited length of the novella. This is a quick read introducing a series that fans of Regency erotica will likely enjoy.
