The Enemy of an Enemy (Lost Tales of Power, #1) by Vincent Trigili

Vydor is riding a wave of success, but now his ship, the Dragon Claw, is being sent to investigate a mysterious event deep within the Empire’s space. A secret research colony has fallen silent and the forces sent to investigate were never heard from again.

A new enemy has come to the Empire bringing with it dark powers that were abandoned long before the Empire was born. Powers that were thought to be legends and myths.

It's up to Vydor to keep this force at bay and protect the Empire, but it may come at the cost of his faith and shake the foundations of the Empire itself.

Not bad, somewhat entertaining, but weak on science.

The writing is a bit disjointed, but got me hooked on the series.

Worth the time and money to get into this story series. Upwardly mobile young man finds himself ordered into a suicide mission by his Emperor. He agrees to go and discovers that many of the things he was taught were incorrect. What he does to survive forms the basis of the series. It's a great plot and I look forward to the rest of the books.

It started out good, but became very predictable. It is a Teen book. It was written well, yet was as I said before predictable. The main character could have been more reluctant and made to have more faults, yet did not, he knew everything in a years time, after just realizing the talents he discovered. I will not be reading the next books.

Looks like a classic imperial space opera at the start, then turns into wizards versus soccerers magic stuff. Not my preference at all. However, it did move along well with good plot and characters.

If you are like me, always looking for a new series to read, I think you will be pleased with this series. Easy to get hooked. Good Sci-Fi. I specifically look for space fiction and I was not disappointed.

The storyline was interesting but the resolution of the plot I found simplistic and convenient. Sophomoric writing.

Funny that us computer geeks all love sci fi. Must be in the genes. Loved this book, sorcerers, spacecraft, mages and all. Read it in two sittings, I was so enthralled. What a terrific combination of sci fi and fantasy. Can't wait to read book two.

The book is 556 pages. Very well written. An enjoyable blend of Sci-Fi and Fantasy. I am 60 years old and I very much enjoyed the book. I believe it would also be enjoyed by those in their teens. Thank you Author.

A unique way to combine Sci-Fi and Fantasy. Vincent has written a well-developed plot and characters. And once again I really enjoyed reading this book. Even though this book is part of a series, it read like a standalone novel which pleased me. Even if you are just a Sci-Fi fan or just a Fantasy fan, you will enjoy reading this book. And since it is free there is no reason not to give it a try - I highly recommend it.

I really enjoyed what part of the book I was able to read although the last 50 pages were a repeat of 4 pages over and over again.
