Overview

Lacey Benoit is in need of a fresh start. Her best friend, Dr. Zoe Millis, has been begging her to make the move from Maine to California. Taking a leap of faith, Lacey does just that.

Living in San Diego definitely has its perks, such as, sunshine and beaches. The best part of moving to the west coast, however, is that Steven is still on the east coast. Catching your almost husband having sex with one of your bridesmaids on your wedding day would make even the strongest woman jaded. Therefore, Lacey has sworn off men for a while, especially men who travel a lot that have easy access to loose women.

When Lacey meets the new enforcer for the San Diego Scorpions, she thinks she might be in trouble. But she is determined to fight her attraction to the sexy NHL hunk. And she is successful...for about a day.

While the plot is interesting and the characters are likable, the writing is so bad it's distracting. Too many cliche's and characters saying things out loud that would be better left  to an internal monologue. At times, the writing seemed immature.

Wowza! This is a new author for me and I have to say I'm impressed. A beautiful story. No long drawn out process. It flowed beautifully. Sexy hockey player with issues, as well as his woman. The way she wrote the story was perfect. Looking forward to the next.

I enjoyed reading the story of Lacey and Jody. The story was great and kept my interest. A good Summer read. I'm looking forward to reading Zoe and Vlad's story! Keep writing Niki!

I loved the story! The main characters were great, the plot was fun, and the sex was hot. The problem was the point of view from which the story was told. The author told the story from multiple characters side, which I generally love. What the issue here is she goes from the hero's POV to the heroine to the best friend in a matter of paragraphs. If you don't pay attention, you will miss who is talking. Loved the book, would have loved it more with a little more structure to who was talking and when... sections for each person, not paragraphs (and sometimes a switch mid-paragraph).

I thought the characters acted too immature for their age. And the dialogue was ridiculous. Who talks like that? And how many times did they have to brag about her "curves"? For the record, "curves" is the nice way of saying fat! And no girl in her right mind would wear yoga pants to a pub. Redneck much?

## I have to agree with a previous reviewer. The writing was not great. The characters seemed too immature for their mid thirties and the dialogue was cheesy and juvenile. It took me 3 days to read this, when normally I can read a book with 250 pages in one day. Another thing that bothered me was that there was no conflict. I really felt like this story needed one. Something to give it some umpf! It was pretty dull in my opinion. I won't be reading again.

AMAZING Hockey Romance debut. Nikki Worrell has truly captured Hockey and Romance. Jody (The Enforcer) and Lacey have the best chemistry. Lacey is just drawn to Jody. Best line of the book, "Oh' his jeans hung on his hips like they were honored to be on him." If you love Alpha Male then you will love this story. The character development of the others in this book make you want to immediately read the next book. BFF's Lacey and Zoe are the best of buddies...and I cannot wait to see how Vlad comes along with Zoe in the next book. This is truly hockey romance. (She even outlines hockey terms in the beginner for the newcomers to hockey. WAY TO GO!

I try to read romance books that involve sports, music and all around fun. This book was definitely in that category. I read the book straight through because I really got wrapped up in it. What a great love story and the characters were alot of fun. I recommend this book highly.

The book is told from multiple POV's. Some other reviewers had questioned this writing style, but it worked for me. I felt like I could follow the conversations and the characters thoughts well. I thought that this book started well and got better as it progressed.  Jody and Lacey have chemistry from their first text message interaction to their first encounter in the bar, (where Lacey rescues the Alpha Male- this was one of favorite scenes).  Ms. Worrell writes a pretty awesome on-ice hockey scene and even better... she writes one heck of a toe curling love scene. Some of the interactions between Jody and Lacey are so hot you may need to read them somewhere you don't mind blushing. Jody is the typical Alpha Male- super protective.. jealous.. but he is trusting and he and Lacey develop a wonderful relationship on the pages. The back story impossible romance of Lacey's friend and team Psychologist, Dr. Zoe and team Goalie, Vlad is great and I look forward to reading their story. Zoe and Vlad are set to star in  Book #2 in this series, Goalie Interference. We meet several other players along the way and I in particular look forward to also reading Cage's story- Cage Booker is the wild hot shot rookie, who earned a place in my heart for beating up Lacey's ex, Steven, when he sees him smack Lacey.. "no one hits a woman"- he definitely has potential. I think for a debut book by a new author this is a pretty solid start. I give it 4 out of 5 stars and I will definitely be reading the other books in this series once they are released.
