Devin has lived a controlled life following the path expected. Being a child genius she has always had trouble fitting in or letting loose, because her parents demanded rigid control after the loss of her baby sister. It is strangling her. Taking her first vacation away with her college roommate, the goal is to let loose and enjoy everything their tropical paradise offers including some hunky scenery. Things go off track when her roomate ends up in hospital with a bum ankle, and then that night the guy she had been drooling over appears on her balcony bleeding. Just like that, everything changes. Hunky Alec is on a secret mission and Devin wants in. Time to use her brilliant mind and learned skills in real life. Time to truely start living on the edge. I absolutely loved the chemistry between these two and the intricate twist and turns within this undercover spy saves the world romance story. Devin and Alec would make a great team for a whole suspense series. I hope the Bastions write more stories like this.

I became easily engrossed in The Espionage Effect as the characters and the story itself was intoxicating, full of suspense, and adventure. You have no idea what is to come next. I found it hard to put down, yet excited when I was able to pick it back up and get lost again in the story. Devin Hill is a genius. And that’s putting it mildly. Her IQ is pretty high. But the rest of her life? It’s pretty drab. That is until Alex Marquez crashes into her life during her vacation Oh and he is a spy. Alec has no idea what he is in for with Devin, but whatever it is he is all in. Devin finds that her dark world has a bit more of color since Alec entered it. And the color in her world was everything she needed. But perhaps its Alec who needs her the most. Can we talk about the connection between Devin and Alec? It was off the charts, addicting, and intense. While mysterious, Alex is also devastatingly handsome. Very much so. Devin finds it easy to be in a hot and passionate affair with him. But what does she truly know about this man? Everything isn’t what it seems. And secrets? They eventually come to light. But how many secrets can someone really have? The Espionage Effect was such an exhilarating read. I found that the authors seamlessly wrote a story that I became easily lost in and there was never a lull or boring moment. The erotic and romantic elements had the perfect balance within the story along with the suspense. It is easily seen how comfortable the authors are with their writing as the story reads as if it was written by one person rather than two. This was very well done and I look forward to more of their work.

The Espionage effect started out slow and very wordy. It did get a little easier to read from chapter to chapter. I love other books by Kat Bastion so I pushed through the first chapter. By Chapter 3, I was getting into it and by the end was very glad I was able to push through after almost giving up. Dev is a certified genius who is tired of trying to live up to her parents expectations. She took a vacation with her friend to re-evaluate her life. She meets Alec while on vacation and she gets more than a one night stand that her friend pretty much talked her into having. She also is haunted by her sisters abduction and death and now it's time to give a little payback to some bad guys. Alec is a spy and takes refuge in Dev's hotel room one night after being shot at. Coincidence? Dev doesn't think so and she immediately knows this is what she should be doing. She jumps head first into the middle of espionage, human trafficking and more wild sex than she ever thought she'd be able to enjoy. Will this end the way Dev wants it to? Or will the spy games negatively effect her life...by ending it? If you like thrilling action, bad guys and spy's then this book is for you. I received a complimentary copy of this title for review purposes.

Devin Hill goes on vacation with her roommate Anna to a exotic location for the Christmas holidays. There, she keeps running into Alec Marquez - yes, even literally. He is quite the handsome charmer, but even Devin knows 3 times in 1 day is no longer coincidence. Alejandro "Alec" Marquez actually works for a secret covert company, ESO for short. He is finding himself attracted to the intelligent Devin and when they see each other all the time... well... what is a man to do? In this case, it is show up in her hotel room bleeding and needing assistance, since Devin stabbed him. Devin came to this location to find herself and have a fling. Now a man appears that she is absolutely hot for - so she starts thinking that at least she can get her some sexy time. Anna finds someone she is interested in also. Lots of secrets and lots of shadows with this amazingly suspenseful story. I found the characters banter to be fun and sexy. They have to band together to go against the evil bad guys. Such a great book! I cannot wait to find out if it has a sequel! ***This ARC copy was given free by Netgalley.com and its publishers for review purposes only.

If you love a book filled with mystery, intrigue, adventure and spice then look no further. This very well written story has all that and more. The characters of Devin and Alec work perfectly together and are both unique and interesting individually. Devin with her off the charts IQ is the perfect partner for the dashing spy Alec. While some of the events in the book may be unrealistic, if you let your imagination go, then you will be entertained beyond belief. I highly recommend this one!

A Wild Spying adventure! Do you love romance with a spicy and intriguing touch? Then you are in for a treat! Kate and Stone Bastion's book The Espionage Effect is intensely erotic and filled with mystery! This is a standalone and full-length novel to devore! The sex scenes are very well written, the characters nicely blended into a fun spy suspense. It tells the story of Devin Hill, a child genius, who's life is so controlled, that she desperately needs to escape and go “wild”. She decides to leave on vacation with her roomate Anna, to relax and enjoy life at the fullest. Enters Alec Marquez, a gorgeous, sexy and mysterious man! Her world will never be the same! The connection between the two is sizzling! Devin will embark on a spy journey with Alec, to discover that it can be fun, but also very dangerous. Action packed, full suspense and lots of passion! What a red hot romance to devore! Story of Betrayal, Secrets, Trust and Hope! I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review!

Kat & Stone Bastion's "The Espionage Effect" is a sexy standalone read. It's an action-adventure romance. It had some very erotic scenes. Probably the most well-described first kiss scene that I've ever read. Alec is a total hottie! Devin is so smart and tough, I didn't realize at first that Devin was a girl's name! The version I read was a very early one and needed more editing. I can't wait to read Geneva's story!
