About the Author

Charles Allen was born in Wyoming and raised in Spokane, Washington, the oldest of seven children. He is a self-taught researcher, historian, and author, but has made his living as a woodworker. With his first wife Susan, he raised six children, two of whom suffered from terminal illnesses. Charles's woodworking and fascination with history led him to the niche of making window and door restorations. He has made windows and doors for restoration projects from Utah to Idaho to Massachusetts, with the majority of work taking place in the Midwest where he makes his home. While engaged in research Charles discovered his love of writing and is the author of five books.
