The Heat Is On by Katie Rose

Perfect for readers of Joanna Blake and Sawyer Bennett, hailed as “charming, sexy, and smart” by Lauren Layne, the Bad Boys of Baseball series from award-winning author Katie Rose heats up as a homegrown baseball star returns to snag the one that got away.
When veteran catcher Connor Jackson gets traded to the New Jersey Sonics, he welcomes the opportunity to possibly cap his career with a World Series ring in his home state. But there’s another reason Connor is glad things have come full circle. In pursuit of hardball glory, he left behind his college sweetheart, the one girl he could never forget. Seeing her again stirs up long-lost desires . . . and this time, he’s determined not to strike out.
A divorced mother of four, Tracy Coleman no longer aspires to gossip-mag glam—but she’ll make an exception for a date with Connor. Their chemistry is hotter than ever, and being alone with him is more seductive than she anticipated. Who could blame her for leaving out a little detail like the kids? Now all she has to do is come clean and convince the man of her dreams that they—Connor, Tracy, and her children—have a future together.

Love sports based books and this author seems to know her baseball as well as how to craft a good story... Unique story line and excellent characters... A bit sad when a dad runs out on his 4 kids and establishes a new family when the oldest is 6 years old... Nice to see a pro athlete step up and be a "man"... Nice to see a woman that can cope with 4 kids and the uncertainty of a regular support check... Real life struggles in this one... But, they got their HEA through a lot of hard work and sacrifice... Good Read!!!

"The Heat Is On (Bad Boys of Baseball-Book 4)" by Katie Rose is my first read from this author. Even though this is book 4 in the series it is a read alone. I have not read books 1-3 in the series but after reading this one I want to go back and read them. Connor Jackson is a veteran pitcher and he is possibly trying to retire in his hometown, and he can't forget his college sweetheart Tracy Coleman who is now a divorced mom of 4. Tracy is still stinging from her ex-husband and no support system. They both seem to still need each other, and their adventure in finding themselves, and seeing each other again will bring them close again.

For some reason I didn’t really like the first book in this series, which meant that I skipped the next one but the couple I’ve read since have been fantastic. There isn’t a lot of drama involved in The Heat Is On – just a straight forward story about two old lovers who have to decide if they are willing to get involved. With the fact that Tracy has four kids there are a lot of extra hearts to break if things go bad so they have to take that into consideration. It is such a realistic issue for divorced people starting to date again and I think that Rose handles it very well. Connor is sexy, strong and truly a good man. He’s settled, both professionally and as a man, and he’s entering a time in his life when baseball isn’t going to be his sole focus. Being back home again means that he has the opportunity to look up his first love – the one woman he hasn’t been able to forget – which is super sweet. While Tracy may be a little overwhelmed as a newly single mom with four little ones, she’s definitely smart enough to give someone like Connor (who is the super-sexy total package) a chance. But it definitely doesn’t mean that things are going to be smooth for them :) We’re also treated to some fun in the locker room with the Sonics. I loved getting little glances at past couples but I think that Rose also does a great job of capturing the brotherhood amongst the players – their roles within the organization, not just on the field – which brings extra heart to all of her stories. But if this is your first read in this series, don’t worry because it can definitely stand on its own. Sexy ball players and sweet romance are the things I’m starting to associate with Rose’s stories and I really hope that she continues to knock it out of the park :) (Complimentary copy provided in exchange for an honest review)

*ARC received from Random House Publishing in return for an honest review* With retirement looming in the near future, baseball star catcher Connor Jackson has two things on his mind - his team winning the World Series, and winning back the woman he has always loved. Tracy Coleman is a single mom with four young children and although Connor wants to renew their relationship, she's fears he might head for the hills when he finds out about her kids. This is a sweet little romance about a second chance for love as Tracy and Connor have to do some soul searching about where their relationship is going and if there is a future for them. Tracy and Connor are very likable characters and the kids are portrayed realistically. I really enjoyed this book.

Katie Rose's Bad Boys of Baseball series is a fun, enjoyable series. The New Jersey Sonics are back this time with a new catcher, Connor Jackson. He was originally from the area but left to play baseball in Arizona. Knowing he was going to be let go, Connor decided to be transferred to New Jersey. He figured it was his last year playing before he would retire and what better of a place than his home town. Plus as an added benefit, his old college girlfriend, Tracy Coleman Carter, whom he was still in love with, had recently gotten divorced. Figuring he might be able to rekindle the attraction, he figured a move to New Jersey was worth the try. I loved Connor. He was a smart, sweet and determined guy. He is the type of guy every girl wants to marry, and his hope was that it would be Tracy. Tracy has been divorced for less than a year and has 4 children, six years old and under! She is trying to make life work for her and the kids but her ex is making it difficult. When Tracy sees Connor for the first time, all of her feelings for him come flying back. She is just not sure he could deal with someone with 4 kids. I loved the way these character got to know each other again. I really enjoyed the interaction with the kids....very real! Overall I really enjoyed this story and the characters. If you enjoy stories about baseball, hot men and sweet romance then try this book out. It was a fun, quick read.

The Heat Is On is the quintessential reuniting first love story. Seasoned veteran baseball player, Connor Jackson wanted to get traded to the Jersey Sonics. He wanted to go back home for a second chance at his college sweet heart Tracy Coleman. Tracy Coleman has had a few bad hands at love. Her true love leaves her for his baseball career, then her husband cheats on her leaving her with a gaggle of small children. But now Connor is back and he seems to be interested in a rekindling their relationship but she has her children to consider. What successful baseball star would want a divorcee with all her baggage and kids to boot…or is it everything he’s been missing? Cute and endearing, The Heat Is On is a great new romance from Katie Rose. Wonderful story telling, engaging characters and reuniting your belief in true love, this is contemporary sports romance that shouldn’t be missed. I received this ARC copy of The Heat is On from Random House - Loveswept in exchange for a honest review.

The Heat is On is the fourth book in Katie Rose's Boys of Summer Series. I love sports-themed romances and and in this novel, we once again find ourselves with the Jersey Sonics. Connor Jackson has made a big name for himself in baseball as a catcher and hitter. He's been traded back to the Sonics, which was something he was really looking forward to, especially since he is considering retiring and this is where he calls home. However, the biggest reason of all is that he wants to see the love of his life, Tracy Coleman, his college sweetheart and the only woman he has ever really considered being "the one." He'd heard she divorced, therefore the timing couldn't be better for him to come back. The first time they see each other, the attraction he's had for her and her for him is definitely there. As things progress between Tracy and Hunter, he soon finds out she has kids, four of them to be exact, and while he likes them, he's not quite sure if he's ready to commit to that full-time. He was amazed at how Tracy handled everything, admiring it actually, yet he knows that Tracy and her kids come as a package deal. Connor and Tracy soon find out that the chemistry between them is better than it's ever had been doesn't even come close to describing it. Connor also gets a first-hand look at what life with four small children is like....the good and the bad. Then there is Tracy's ex-husband, who is a total jerk. I enjoyed watching their romance develop over the course of the novel. The story itself was great, well-written, fun and entertaining, and it was good to see a hero that was the kind of all-around great guy that Connor is. Katie Rose fans will enjoy The Heat is On, and contemporary romance fans will as well.

3.5 stars The heat Is On was a good read. I enjoyed watching Connor and Tracy reconnect and get their second chance at love. I have to mention that I was a little frustrated with some of Tracy's actions but overall the storyline was entertaining and loved seeing them get their HEA. An added plus for me was watching Connor's interaction with Tracy's children, it was cute and heartwarming. He was such a good, fun loving and hot guy. I've enjoyed all the books from The Boys of Summer series and while each can be read as standalones I highly recommend them all.

This is book # 4 in The Boys Of Summer series. While this book is just fine as a standalone novel, it would be easier to understand and enjoy if you read the series in order as intended. All the books in this series feature hot men and steamy love stories. Connor is about to retire, as he is traded back home to the Sonics. He wants to put his life in order, and has an idea what he wants for his life after baseball. The biggest part of that is Tracy. His college girl, she was the one that got away. Tracy has been through the ringer with her ex-husband. She now is a single mom to four kids and is not sure where to fit Connor into her life. Could he accept her as she is? Is the past heat something that can be rekindled? This was an amazing story about what is important in life. There are so many parts to this book that I would love to point out, but do not want to spoil for the reader. I will say, there are surprises in store! Great book for the series and an excellent read. ***This ARC copy was given by and its publisher for an honest review only.

I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is my fourth book by Katie Rose, and the fourth book in her Boys of Summer series. This was a cute quick read just like the first three. This is a cute story of second chances, which is great since Connor and Tracy are great together.

Loved this sweet, entertaining and hot, second chance romance, about the boys of summer. I was hooked from the beginning to end and read this in one sitting. I really loved Connor and Tracy so much, they were very interesting and lovable characters. They have great heat and chemistry that led to a nice amount of schmexy times. I enjoyed learning about their history and watching them reconnect. They had a playfulness and flirtatiousness about them, that really exploded into a lot of hotness. Connor Jackson has just returned home to Philadelphia and the New Jersey Sonics. He agreed to be traded back to where he started his career, thinking it would be a great place to end it, and possibly even get into the playoffs. While baseball had been his life, it wasn't enough now, he wanted more, a home, a wife, he wanted Tracy Coleman Carter the one that got away. He had recently noted she was single on her Facebook status, and he was getting back his girl and when he set his mine to something, he succeeded. Tracy Coleman Carter is a recently divorced single parent with four children, whose ex-husband Jeremy cheated on her while she was pregnant. Then after finding out that he had a separate family miles away it was the end, she is thru with men. She takes one day at a time, trying to make ends meet with her job doing medical billing and caring for her family. When her mother tells her that the Sonics got Connor in a trade, she wonders if he is still so damn good looking with those penetrating grey-green eyes and oh so sexy mouth. Connor is so into her, Tracy is sweet, beautiful and selfless, not like the women he has been dating. I loved their connection and think they're great together. They are both such sweet people that love and care with all their hearts. I absolutely fell in love with Connor and his determination and the effort he puts into making Tracy his number one priority. It was entertaining watching Connor's world get rocked by Tracy and the kids. Loved getting the glimpse of the passion that Connor and Tracy share, it was exciting and super seductive. The journey to their happy was sweet, fun, sexy and above all else heartwarming. "What he had with her was real and just that simple." " She was it." Great secondary characters that really add to their story. I loved where this story went and how it all came together. Highly recommended ! Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book! This is the story of Connor and Tracy. They had a relationship in college and Conner left to go play baseball. Tracy gets married to someone else and has children. Unfortunately, her husband was cheating on her and she now has the responsibility of raising her kids by herself. Connor is back and would like to pick up where him and Tracy left off. However, she's now a divorcee with four kids. Can he handle FOUR kids? This was a sweet love story and I enjoyed it!

Another good story, HEA, standalone, no cliffhanger. This is book number four in the Bad Boys of Baseball series (originally called The Boys of Summer series) but each book stands alone and you won’t feel like you’ve missed anything if you start with this one. Be sure to read the others, though because they’re good books. The Heat is On is a great title for this book; it’s filled with heat between Connor and Tracy. They were an item in college but he left her for baseball. Now that she is divorced, and he is back in town, Connor wants to connect with her again and see what happens. There are a lot of ups and downs in their new relationship. Connor isn’t sure if he can handle her four kids and her ex is making trouble. While I enjoyed this book quite a bit it didn’t captivate me quite as much as the previous ones in this series. It’s entirely possible that it was just my mood when I read this one but the writing didn’t seem to flow quite as good as the earlier ones. Still, all in all, I liked this one and definitely will read more in this series and more books from this author. A word of warning – if steamy scenes and the F word seriously offend you then you might want to skip this one (but you’ll be missing a good book). I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A divorced mother of four small kids reunites with her college sweetheart. Connor returns to his hometown to play his last season of baseball. Tracey's ex leaves her with four small kids for his other family he had on the side. But now he's back and causing trouble between Tracey and Connor. Connor is ready to settle down and he knows the kids are part of the package but he's got to convince Tracey he's in it for the long haul. Second chance at love. Tracey waffled too much to me. She wants Connor but is afraid of being left again and I understand but she needed to talk it out with him. Naughty sex. A sexy baseball player. *RECEIVED A COPY FROM NETGALLEY*

3.5 stars---THE HEAT IS ON is the fourth installment in Katie Rose’s contemporary, adult THE BOYS OF SUMMER baseball, romance series. This is New Jersey Sonics catcher Connor Jackson, and divorced mother of four/medical transcriber Tracy Coleman’s story line. THE HEAT IS ON can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. All of the previous storyline couples play secondary and supporting roles. Told from dual third person perspectives THE HEAT IS ON is a second chance romance between Tracy and Connor. Tracy and Connor were college sweethearts but Connor’s dream of making it big in the majors found our couple going in opposite directions. Fast forward to present day wherein Tracy finds herself a divorced mother with four children under six years old, and Connor returns home to New Jersey for one final shot at the World Series and a championship ring. What ensues is a rekindling of a relationship that finds Tracy keeping secret her young family of four. Tracy Coleman is a woman scorned whose ex husband kept a secret family on the side. While pregnant with child number four Tracy found herself a single parent with no stable support system from her children’s father. Connor Jackson is a thirty seven year old baseball player whose best days are behind him. When he is traded to the New Jersey Sonics Connor is given a chance to make the team a contender for the championship ring-think Bull Durham-an experienced catcher whose leadership is needed to bring about a winning season. But a trade to New Jersey places Connor closer to the woman he has never stopped loving-a woman whose own life moved forward without the man that she loved. The rekindling of the relationship is a slow build to a second chance at love but our heroine keeps secrets her life at home. In this, I did have some issues with her reluctance to reveal the truth but in the end Connor is more of a hero; a man who is willing to accept everything and everyone in Tracy’s life even though Tracy’s attempts to protect her family could have come at a cost to both her relationship with Connor and hearts of her young children. The $ex scenes are seductive and provocative without the over the top erotic, graphic imagery and text. THE HEAT IS ON is a sweet storyline with a little bit of suspense, romance, $ex and love. Tracy’s ex-husband adds some uncomfortable moments when he threatens our heroine but the resolution to this particular aspect of the story is quick to resolve and with some moments that were not quite realistic. Connor’s fellow baseball players add friendship, friendly banter and an overall feeling of familiarity and

Connor Jackson is beyond happy to return home to New Jersey and play for the Sonics, and have the opportunity to finish out his final year on the baseball field in the town where it all started for him. He is also hoping his return home will reunite him with the girl he left behind to chase his baseball dreams, leaving her has always been one of his greatest regrets. When he heard she had married and settled down with another man it crushed him, but after recently learning that she is once again single he figures this is fate stepping in and giving him a second chance to win her back. The thought of losing her again is something he doesn't even want to think about, so he determined to do all he can to restore a place in her heart again. Tracy Coleman has recently found herself a single mother of four, after being completely duped by her ex-husband. She never expected to find herself raising four young children on her own, but she is committed to doing all she can to keep things as normal as possible for her children. The idea of moving on and finding love again is the furthest thing from her mind, not to mention the fact that no man in his right mind would want to involve himself with a woman in her situation. So, when she learns that her famed baseball playing ex is back in town and interested in seeing her again, she is not only hesitant, but also certain that as soon as he finds out she has four children to add to the mix he'll turn tail and run. This was my second visit to the "Boys of Summer" series and I have to say this time was even better than the first! I absolutely loved reading Connor and Tracy's story, it drew me almost immediately, and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through! The chemistry between these two burned brightly from start to finish, and every encounter they had was filled with so much heated passion and intensity that I found myself in need of a fan! I highly recommend you acquaint yourself with the men of the "Boys of Summer" series, they are not only sure to satisfy all your reading needs, but also cement a special place in your heart!! I really loved taking another trip inside the New Jersey Sonics locker room to meet their newest catcher, Connor Jackson. He's sweet, sexy, and knows what he wants out of life. Top of his list, is Tracy Coleman. Tracy & Connor were college sweethearts. He's never forgotten the one he left behind. He decided to put his everything into making his baseball career shine, and he succeeded, but he never forgot what he had given up for it. Tracy went on to marry Jeremy Carter, but she never forgot her one true love. Now she's divorced with 4 kids, and just heard that Connor is coming back to town to play ball. They run into each other at a game, and he gets her number and calls asking her out on a date. Almost immediately its easy and fun to just hang out and be themselves again. He makes her laugh, and the chemistry is still off the charts between them. And when they touch, HOT, HOT, HOT! She's just forgotten to mention one little thing ... well, really FOUR little things ... her kids! When he finds out how many strings she has attached to her these days, will Connor still want to reconnect with her? ** Received free in exchange for an honest review **

I loved this story!! A yummy ball player, a second chance at love, and four delightful kids - what's not to like??? After being best friends and one time lovers in college, Conner and Tracy are reunited when Conner gets traded to the Sonics. It didn't work back then but now with little time left in his baseball career Conner is ready to settle down and Tracy is the one woman he could never forget. He's got one last shot at both a World Series ring and love and he's determined to have both! This is one I definitely recommend.

I am not a sports fan. My least favorites are football and baseball. So if I can sit through a story centered around a subject I hate it has to be good. Katie Rose keeps me coming back to experience the nostalgia, romance, successes and failures of The Boys of Summer. With The Heat is On she really outdid herself. She gave young love a second chance despite the obstacles that pulled them apart. The fact that Tracy, the beautiful girl Connor never forgot happened to be a single mother of four was an added bonus. Connor a successful athlete was just as enamored with the mature women as he was with the beautiful young girl. Because he saw her through the eyes of love. I received an ARC of the heat is on in exchange for an honest review. Lovely story of life's little surprises.
