Overview

Aidan Hunter's heart has been broken twice. The first time was his mistake; Tori belonged to his brother. The second time, an entirely different kind of void remained.

After months of trying to understand how Maria perpetrated such heartless betrayal, the only thing Aidan has left is the desire to seek revenge. With everything in place to work the hustle of a lifetime, Aidan learns the truth and he'll stop at nothing to get Maria back.

Only in an unexpected twist, Peyton Miles, a woman completely opposite of Maria, begins to worm her way into Aidan's heart. She's mature, sexy and confident, and she doesn't need to be saved.

When an irreversible mistake is made, Aidan loses both women.

Fate has other plans and a second chance emerges. Can Aidan let go of the guilt he carries and allow himself happiness? Or will he continue to fight his feelings and intentionally sabotage any hope of a relationship?

This is a great book; this is the second book in the Skin in the Game series written by Christine Bell. This book can be read as a standalone, but once you read this one you will want to go back and read the other books in this series. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

Flora had her life all together. She was in her senior year, a newly appointed TA for her favorite professor in her chosen career studies. She had a backup plan if actual acting didn't happen. She was a realist. Popular with a great roomie BFF. No one—no one knew her dark side, and she didn't plan to share it with anyone. Ty didn't hide his dark side. He had one goal and didn't need anyone else. His return from the Sand Box was just part of his pain—one he'd never recover from so why try. He would fulfill a dream, part his, but more important than what he wanted—he'd play pro football. He just had to stay focused, keep average grades and ignore anything else—including sex/women.  Both had a plan, both needed to focus, both were in a bad place and didn't need an intense relationship. So why wouldn't she/couldn't she stay away from him? Why did he want to grab her every time he saw her? Fate sure had a messed up sense of humor. Both planned to ignore the other—until they were paired in very intense class.  Can Ty really ignore her and his feelings? Even with her dark side, can she just forget what she sees in him? If she tries, will he let her in? Can they confide and help each other? This is an intense story, with real life horrors and how people deal. It is also a love story you won't want to miss, with characters you won't be able to forget. I give this 5 recommends and stars. I was provided an ARC for an honest review.

Loved this! These characters grabbed my attention from the first page and I could not put this one down. Ty is a brooding 23 year old now in college as a freshman after a tour in Iraq that left him with emotional and physical scars. He just wants to play ball. Playing in the NFL is the goal and the only way to get there is to get noticed during the spring season. There's no time for anything else. Especially not the sexy TA in what was suppose to be his easy A class but is actually his worst nightmare. Drama class - what was he thinking. On the verge of failure he's forced to spend time with his biggest distraction. Flora Vasquez is determined to get Ty through this class. There is just something about him. Yes he broody and sometimes a complete jerk but she can't get him out of her head. Nor can she forget the sadness she sees in his eyes. All she wants to do is help him. This is a wonderfully written story and one I highly recommend.
