About the Author

Trying to figure out when I started writing is like trying to decide when I started walking. The stories have always been there, rummaging around in my mind. Some went on paper. Most didn’t. I wrote my first novel when I was 22. Thankfully, I left it to the dustbin of history where it shall always remain.

Imagine the grin, yes, it was that bad.

As for influences on my latest story, The Island, that one has been up there banging away in my head for a long time. Parts of it were told at bedtime. Though honestly, those who heard the parts wouldn't recognize them in the story. By the time we get to the second book in this series, they will find some recognizable moments. They'll also probably be upset that the adventure turned into something of a horror story.

Ahh, well, most of them are old enough now to read it for what it is.

I grew up in North Carolina, which is why part of the story is set there. I’ve been to exotic parts of the world, many countries, and most states. None of them I know as well as the one I called home for most of my life. It makes it easy to write about it, and the people in it.

From Book One, Part 1, through The Final Chapters, you will find this story intriguing and exciting. It will be hard to put down once you start reading; so I recommend you get all 5 of the series so you can go right on with the story. Waiting now for The Rock (2013) to read more of Michael Stark's series.

Awesome ending to a good series! I am from the area Michael Stark writes about in this series and am a big sci-fi fan. i have camped on this island and been to the deserted town of Portsmouth. Loved the books Michael!!

I haven't had a set of books that i couldn't put down for a long time. I enjoyed the pace, the style, the charaters, nothing was disappointing, except, of course, that there was an end. Bravo! I look forward to more!

Just finished reading the last book of The Island. What a great storyline!! It makes you think of what you would do if an epidemic flu were to happen. Where would you go? Michael Stark is a great storyteller, he really draws you into the characters and setting. I loved Hill, William and hope we see him again on the Rock.....wherever that might be.... Thanks Michael, happy writing!!

I am so excited for the next book/volumes of this series. I have always supported the faulted hero and it is crazy that I could not put down a horror story. I have never actually taken the time out to write a review, but this was a one hell of a ride. Have fun reading!!

While this last book in the Island series still maintains your interest, the final reveal of who is the bad guy in all of this is a let down. This book answers none of the questions brought through the other 4 books in this series. In fact the short description of the brief encounter at the end leaves the reader feeling that somehow you have somehow had another book inserted into the final pages.

I read the series back in February and loved it. My problem now is I can't find ANY information on The Rock.

This series is very suspenseful, and difficult to put down. A bit gory for me in parts, but I don't usually read horror. Overall, I like the characters and writing. I did feel the ending was a let down, and did not make a great deal of sense to me. I guess the questions will be answered in the next series, but disappointed that could not have been wrapped up after 5 books.
