The Invader's left the world in ruin. Their first worldwide devastation, named the Accident, was unforeseen by everyone. Well, almost. Seven men knew of the approaching destruction and acted by preparing six islands as a place of refuge. Rescuing thousands of people, these Keepers decided to get the next generation ready for war; in their own way. Through training, experimentation, and study, the men created an army of young Bionics, Mutants, geeks, doctors, farmers, and militia to fight the battle.

However, things do not go as planned.

Alison is a Bionic who still has faint memories of her past life. These memories continue to haunt her and make her doubt the Keepers who saved her from an explosion eight years ago. She knows in her gut that something else is afoot, but cannot find out what. On the other hand, Sami and Aaron, a Mutant and a Geek, have absolutely no memory of the world before and continue to do as they are told. Despite their obedience, their suspicions are aroused repeatedly and they cannot shake the feeling of uncertainty.

The flame of these teens' doubts is fanned by one interesting character that subtly creates chaos on the Isles.

Read the record logs of Alison, Sami, and Aaron and join them on their journey to find the truth in their islands of lies. Follow them on their adventure as they put themselves in the lines of danger and learn to use their abilities in combat. The roller coaster of suspicions will have you on the edge of your seat until these teenagers find the answer and do something about it.

With hints at the Six Million Dollar Man, Ender’s Game, Starship Troopers, and the science of Batman Beyond, [The Isles] is a science fiction tale to entertain and enthrall. - Steven McEvoy, Top 500 Amazon Reviewer

Reviewed by A. L. Peevey for Readers' Favorite The Isles: The Terra Testimonies Volume 1 by Sara Francis begins with the destruction of the world by the Invaders. In the wake of the devastation the Invaders left behind, certain men called the Keepers have gathered thousands of survivors to six isles, which were prepared in advance to receive them. Alison, who remembers her former life, is one of the survivors, but she is very badly hurt and so receives some replacement “parts” to become a Bionic. Another survivor, Sami, is dosed with feline genetic material and she becomes a Mutant. Then there is Aaron, a Geek, someone who has been tested and has absorbed a vast amount of knowledge. In a society of ranks, each strives to rise to higher levels in their training for battle, but their dissatisfaction begins to grow - that the truth behind their existence is not what they have been led to believe. Seemingly encouraged by one of the Keepers, they search for answers, each using their particular skills. A battle is coming, but who is the enemy? The Isles by Sara Francis is a well-crafted post-apocalyptic story set in an imaginatively conceived and intricately detailed version of our world, inhabited by characters with differing motives. The author has not only mastered telling a story through log entries but also through the eyes of three different characters. This is not an easy task, but the author did it well. The language of these youthful characters rings with authenticity and will resonate with young adult readers, but older readers will also find this book an entertaining beginning to a new series of science fiction, dystopian books. I look forward to the next continuing adventures of Alison, Sami, Aaron, and their friends.
