Jennifer Peterson has been unlucky in love, but now thanks to an Internet search she's found a sure-fire formula for identifying the perfect man. Statistics seem to show that if she narrows her search to men of certain careers and physical attributes, she'll have a better shot at success. So now she's on the hunt for not-so-well-endowed, short and hairy podiatrists or funeral directors, who've been dubbed less likely to cheat than their tall, good-looking counterparts. Yup, she's narrowing her playing field to the "safe" guys.

But nothing feels safe when a hit man runs Jennifer off the road and chases her into an old junkyard. The sexy cowboy who runs the place may be the best man to keep her alive, but he's also the type to most likely put her heart in jeopardy. Should she trust her head and keep playing it safe, or throw all logic out the window for the one guy who may be worth the risk?

Overall, this story has potential. However, if you are going to write about specifics, do your research. This really ruined the whole thing for me. 40 acres does NOT make a ranch. It can't support a large or even a medium about of livestock. It absolutely doesn't need ranch hands. At most, it would be a fun past time for someone who had another career. There was so much there that was just wrong. Police activities and the way they function. Interior design. All really flawed. Research. Research. Research.

"The Junkyard Cowboy" is written by Christie Craig, and it is the 3rd book in her Tall, Hot, & Texan series. It can be read as a stand-alone book. It features Jennifer Peterson and Clay Connors. One thing I've come to expect with Christie Craig's books is that her books are well-thought out and very well-written. As always, there's a balance of romance and suspense! I didn't want to book down! I wanted to see if the bad guy would get caught. Jennifer is a witness on a case. She's about to testify, but someone is out to get her before she does. The hired hit man runs her off the road, and she starts running and screaming for help. Clay just took a shower and didn't have time to put on some clothes. But his protective instincts kick in when he hears Jennifer screaming. He saves her. But boy, did Jennifer get an eyeful when she realized Clay was actually naked while doing so! This is where the story begins. Clay and Jennifer have mutual friends, and they all want Jennifer to be safe. Clay takes up on that role and watches over her. She's going to stay at his house. Along the way, readers will meet Pete Tippins, who used to work for Clay's grandfather in the junkyard, as well as Pete's dog, Devil. All hilarity ensues! Will Clay be able to protect Jennifer, or will the hit man finally get them? There are a lot of close calls! Will Clay and Jennifer be able to have their happily ever after? "The Junkyard Cowboy" is another winner! Christie Craig had me smiling and laughing the whole time!

This is a continuation of the Tall, Hot and Texan series that started way back with Gotcha. The series has definitely gotten better and better, as Christie Craig's writing has gotten better and better too. You can always expect a laugh when you pick up one of her books. Highly recommended, just like everything else she writes!

This is such a fun series, and this book was a perfect addition to this series. I love how laughter is mixed with suspense. Every character comes to life and you find yourself falling in love with everyone of them. I even found myself feeling a little bad for the "bad guy" in the book, I mean he absolutely needed to get what was coming to him but still I felt bad for him too. Christie does that though she makes this world come to life and makes you want to be a part of it yourself.
